This listing may initially appear to be the strangest way to list a car here on eBay that you have ever seen. Please read this entire description through very carefully so that you completely understand what I am attempting to do here. This listing is for a very special, exceptionally straight and damage free and reasonably solid 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 two door hardtop. The VIN number is shown in one of these photos. The first three digits of it are 138 which indicates that this car was indeed an SS or Super Sport car from the factory. I have been told that the more common 1967 Chevelle Malibu vehicles had a VIN number that started with 136 rather than 138.

I believe this car came originally with a 4-speed manual transmission, bench seat, power steering and perhaps a few other factory installed options. This car is presently located at the home ranch which is 225 miles north of where I normally live and was when I started this listing.

The initial photos show that the radiator, engine, clutch, transmission, rear axle, wheels, hood, windshield wipers, trunk lid, radio and several other parts are missing from this car. The original blue front bench seat is still in place. The original blue front seat upholstery is intact but is in poor condition. Both of the rear seat springs are included but were stored in the open in the trunk and have no upholstery material remaining on them. The original blue three spoke steering wheel is included and is shown in place on the steering column.

Friday, January 25, I purchased some parts from a 1967 Chevelle from a wrecking yard near where I live. Those parts included a standard duty 10 bolt rear axle assembly, a standard Chevelle hood, both hood hinges with springs, a fair grille and 4 headlamps with the buckets. I have four yellow 14" wheels with fair tires and dog dish Chevrolet hubcaps that will fit this car and are included with it.

On Saturday afternoon, January 26, I plan to take these parts to the home ranch east of Great Falls. I will then install the rear axle assembly and the four wheels on this car, load it on my trailer and haul it back to Bozeman where I live. I will then install the grille and hood and clean out the trunk and interior. I will then be able to take better photos that show the true condition of the front, rear and trunk floors as well as the other body panels.

I will then upgrade the photos of this listing to the latest photos and lower the starting price to $1,995 so that the auction can begin. I have made this listing this way so that I can get exposure for this listing in the next few days and still be able to upgrade the photos with better photos. As soon as someone bids on an item here on eBay, the seller can no longer change or upgrade the photos on that listing.

Please do not bid on this listing until I lower the starting price in a few days. I appreciate your patience while I retrieve this car from the home ranch and get my work done on this very collectible old Chevelle. This is not the only or the finest 1967 big block 1967 Chevelle Super Sport out there but it sure has a lot of potential. Not everyone can afford or even justify a nice one that costs $40,000 or more. Here is your chance to build a car the way you want it.

I have reasonably secure outdoor storage in Bozeman and can store this car for a several months or more for free for the winning bidder while we arrange transportation if need be. Perhaps you are interested in making a trip to beautiful Montana this spring or summer and can pick this car up on your trip. I am happy to work with collectors from outside the USA and can arrange for shipment to an exporter on either the east coast or the west coast here in the USA.

I will be applying for a Montana title on Monday and it usually takes about 3 weeks to get a clear and non-salvage Montana title for a car like this that has been neglected for many years. My cell phone is 406-799-1847 but I will be out of cell service for the later half Saturday,  all of Sunday and part of Monday morning. The number for the land line at the home ranch for Saturday afternoon, Sunday and Monday morning is 406-737-4496. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn in Bozeman Montana

I now have the rear axle under this car and the rear wheels in place too as you can see in the first photo. The right front wheel is only setting in position in the first photo. I will be re-installing the coil springs in the front suspension Sunday so I can get the front wheels installed and upgrade more of these photos.

                   Sunday January 26 at 11 PM :

I worked all day on this car and was able to piece the front suspension together well enough to make it possible to move the car around and actually steer it with the steering wheel that is now mounted on the steering column. Both front coil springs were missing so I cut two 10-1/2" long pieces of 4" exhaust tubing and substituted them for the missing coil springs. The driver's side went together fine but the ball joint on the passenger's side had the ball pulled out of the socket. I put the ball back in the socket and tied the joint together with heavy wire. As I was later cleaning out the trunk, I found a good usable ball joint that someone removed from another car at some time. That used ball joint is included with this car.

I found what appears to be a very good usable power steering gear in the trunk so I bolted it in place and hooked up the steering linkage to the pitman arm. I installed the original blue three spoke steering wheel that came with the car. A power steering pump was also in the trunk but I have no engine to install it on so it is included with this project car. Now this car rolls on it's four wheels and steers well enough to make moving it around much easier and safer.

Later today, two friends and I installed the hood hinges and the regular Chevelle hood that I bought a couple of days ago. I must have been tired or half asleep when I bought that hood because it has several tiny rust holes at the top of the very front surface. The car that this hood came from was quite rusty so I should have been more careful when buying a sheet metal part like a hood.

This evening I spent quite a bit of time installing the four headlamp bucket assemblies. About a third of the original very fragile plastic adjusting screw receptacles that the headlamp adjusting screws screw into were not broken so I used one on each of the headlamps. Whoever gets this project will have to buy 8 new plastic adjusting screw receptacles as well as 4 new small coil springs that hook into the headlamp buckets.

A pair of good headlamp bezels were in the trunk so I tied them into place because the plastic receptacles that the two retaining screws screw into were missing. I also installed the fair original grille that I bought a couple of days ago. I found all four of the front bumper brackets so I installed the marginal front bumper using the pair of inner brackets only at this time.

I cleaned out the trunk and took a couple of photos of the rusty trunk floor and added them to this listing. Trunk floors in cars like this do not normally rust out very much here in relatively dry Montana. This car probably sat with no trunk lid on it for sometime between 10 and 30 years so that is why the trunk floor has some holes in it. Tomorrow I hope to tackle cleaning up the interior so I can get some better photos of it and upgrade the photos already on this listing. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn

                                       Monday January 27 at 11 PM :

I am sorry for no progress on this car today. I spent all day dealing with my elderly Aunt and her medical and estate problems. Tomorrow should be a better day for more progress on this car.

                   Tuesday January 28 at 2 AM :

Today was better than Monday. I removed the front seat, carpets and all material from the front and rear floors so that I could examine the floors carefully for rust and get photos of them for you to view. I was hoping to find at least remnants of the build sheet under the front seat but found none. The rear seat cushions had been outside for many years so the upholstery was almost all gone from them. I did find remnants of rear seat upholstery in the trunk and found the two chrome plated die-cast ornaments that go on the backrest of the rear seat so they are included in the pile of loose parts.

As you can see from the four photos, the floors inside the car are in excellent condition except for two tiny rust holes. One is about 1/8" in diameter and is located under the left rear quarter window. The other is about the same size and is located on the left front area approximately under the left edge of the glove box door. Both of these holes are hard to see unless one looks very closely. I suspect that each hole has about 2 or 3 inches of weak metal around it that should be cut out and replaced. I weigh 210 pounds so I walked around inside the car and found no weak areas in the floor anywhere.

I washed the dash, seat and all interior panels and installed the front seat assembly so that I could take photos of the interior. We have a winter storm on the way so I loaded the car on my trailer and hauled it back to Bozeman where I live most of the time. Thanks for your continued patience while I work more on this listing. Bob Woodburn

                  Wednesday January 29 at 5 PM :

The storm has not arrived yet so I took the best exterior photos I have of this car here in Bozeman this afternoon. I think I am done with updating photos so I am going to work a bit on this description before I lower the bid price to $1,995 and let the bidding begin.

Chevy Corvette Z06, Ford F-150 Raptor join Lego Speed Champs

Tue, Oct 20 2015

Get ready to park some performance machines on your desk: Lego's 2016 line of Speed Champions kits will add seven new vehicles for next year, according to an update to the database Brickset. These include some serious muscle like a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Ford Mustang GT. There's also a listing called "Chevrolet Camaro Drag Race" and a very cool combo titled "Ford F-150 Raptor Ford/Model A Hot Rod". Fans of European performance don't need to be jealous, though. The database shows a kit called "Porsche 919 Hybrid and 917K Pit-Lane." Plus for fans of the Four Rings, the Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro and R8 LMS Ultra are also getting their own Lego models. Fourtitude appears to have some leaked shots, if you want to see what these kits will look like. Lego has partnered with Porsche, McLaren, and Ferrari and offers Speed Champions kits for vehicles like the Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1, Ferrari 458 Italia GT2, and LaFerrari. The models in the series aren't as heavily detailed as the massive Mini Cooper or Volkswagen Bus sets, but they make up for that in value. The individual cars retail for a fairly affordable $14.99. The Formula One playset tops the current range at $99.99, but it comes with a truck, racecar and team figures.

GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases

Wed, Nov 20 2019

NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case. The case is In re: Motors Liquidation Co, 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 18-1940. Government/Legal Chevrolet Pontiac Saturn Safety gm ignition switch

GM starting to talk seriously about 200-mile EV

Sun, Oct 12 2014

We've been hearing word of a 200-mile EV from Chevrolet for a while now. First, there was General Motors then-CEO Dan Akerson hinting at a $30,000, 200-mile EV that would take the competition by surprise. Then Akerson confirmed that GM is working on a 200-mile EV in a speech in March. LG Chem, which supplies batteries to GM and other automakers, recently said it was working on batteries for EVs with a range of 200 miles. GM's head of global product development Mark Reuss just re-confirmed that there are plans for an EV with a 200-mile range, and sources have told Automotive News what that car will be. While Reuss didn't mention anything about a specific model or platform, two undisclosed sources with knowledge of GM's plans have said that an EV with a range of about 200 miles is indeed in the works, and that it will be based on the Chevrolet Sonic. The sources also gave a timeline for the car, saying it is slated for sometime in 2017. According to Reuss, the plan is for Chevy to offer a lineup of electric cars, with the 200-mile EV joining ranks of the Chevrolet Volt and the Spark EV. He didn't hint at a timeline, but if the sources are correct, we could see a Sonic EV being built within a few years. Reuss sees demand for it, too. When speaking of the Spark EV, currently only available in California and Oregon, he says that "people wish we would sell it all around the country." If he's right about that, it's not difficult to imagine people taking interest in Chevrolet's 200-mile electric car, whether or not it's a Sonic.
