1967 Black On Red Sinister Chevelle Ss Clone Real 396/375 Motor on 2040-cars
Evans, Georgia, United States
Up for auction is my Chevelle SS Clone. This car has been awesome and I would rather not part with it, but certain priorities make it necessary to find a new home for it. The previous owner started with a rock solid body and made this car into the next best thing to having the real deal. Black with a red interior is arguably the best muscle car color combination. This Chevelle was done five years ago, and still shows wonderfully. Everything on the car is very good to excellent condition. Over the last year, a very nice power front disc brake set up was added. The car stops on a dime, with no pulling right or left. The console clock was also sent off and reconditioned (quartz). The motor is the high horse 396 that came out of a '69 Chevelle SS (casting #3955272). This motor has a rare Winters aluminum intake with a Holley 850 double pumper mounted on top. Also included is a HEI distributor, Pete Jackson timing gear and a Be Cool aluminum radiator. The car operates on a 90 degree day in stop and go traffic at 180 degrees. The engine and 400 turbo transmission got a complete rebuild five years ago. The engine runs and idles excellent. It performs very well with plenty of power to spare, although it appears to have been a stock rebuild. The engine nor the transmission leaks any fluids, no funny smells, noises, etc. The transmission shifts smoothly but crisply. The retina burning red interior still looks fantastic, as shown in the pictures. The gauges all work, turn signals, lights, wipers, etc. The 2 1/2 inch Flowmasters sound great. The paint is very nice with very little flaws. The chrome bumpers are excellent, as is the stainless trim. The glass is very nice as well. The windows roll up and down effortlessly. The car tracks and steers very well. It also has power steering. The 15" American Racing T/T's are newer, as are all four BFG tires. You will not find any rust on the car. The floors are unrestored and exceptionally clean. I've been all up under the car. The trunk is excellent. A spare and original jack come with the car, I took it out for the pictures. Please call me (Andy) with questions at (706) 836-4410. Sorry about some of the sideways pictures. Email or call for different or specific pictures. No trades, no scams, serious calls only, please. I don't need help selling this car. Someone is going to get a very nice car for half the cost of a real 138 car in this shape! Thanks
On Jun-17-14 at 19:49:46 PDT, seller added the following information: There have been several questions about the car that I thought I'd address for everyone. The paint is very nice, probably an 8.5 out of 10. It was a quality paint job on an arrow straight body. There's no bubbling, blistering, fisheyes, sags, etc. It was sanded and buffed. The gaps are perfect. The doors close and open perfectly. The interior is show worthy. I have a clear GA title in my name. I did not intend on selling it, but last year private school for my daughter was not in the plans. This fall it has become part of the plan. I will also list my Impala 427 SS very soon as well. The UAW's 'record contract' hinges on pensions, battery plants
Thu, Oct 12 2023DETROIT - After nearly four weeks of disruptive strikes and hard bargaining, the United Auto Workers and the Detroit Three automakers have edged closer to a deal that could offer record-setting wage gains for nearly 150,000 U.S. workers. General Motors, Ford Motor and Chrysler parent Stellantis have all agreed to raise base wages by between 20% and 23% over a four-year deal, according to union and company statements. Ford and Stellantis have agreed to reinstate cost-of-living adjustments, or COLA. The companies have offered to boost pay for temporary workers and give them a faster path to full-time, full-wage status. All three have proposed slashing the time it takes a new hire to get to the top UAW pay rate. The progress in contract talks follows the first-ever simultaneous strike by the UAW against Detroit's Big Three automakers. The union began the strike on Sept. 15 in hopes of forcing a better deal from each major automaker. But coming close to a deal is not the same thing as reaching a deal. Big obstacles remain on at least two major UAW demands: restoring the retirement security provided by pre-2007 defined benefit pension plans, and covering present and future joint- venture electric vehicle battery plants under the union's master contracts with the automakers. On retirement, none of the automakers has agreed to restore pre-2007 defined-benefit pension plans for workers hired after 2007. Doing so could force the automakers to again burden their balance sheets with multibillion-dollar liabilities. GM and the former Chrysler unloaded most of those liabilities in their 2009 bankruptcies. The union and automakers have explored an approach to providing more income security by offering annuities as an investment option in their company-sponsored 401(k) savings plans, people familiar with the discussions said. Stellantis referred to an annuity option as part of a more generous 401(k) proposal on Sept. 22. Annuities or similar instruments could give UAW retirees assurance of fixed, predictable payouts less dependent on stock market ups and downs, experts said. Recent changes in federal law have removed obstacles to including annuities as a feature of corporate 401(k) plans, said Olivia Mitchell, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and an expert on pensions and retirement. "Retirees want a way to be assured they won't run out of money," Mitchell said.
GM's MPG overstatement could affect 2 million vehicles
Tue, May 17 2016Late last week, GM admitted that three of its large SUVs fuel economy window stickers did not match their actual efficiency ratings, and so the vehicles couldn't be sold. The stickers on the 2016 Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave said their ratings were one to two miles per gallon better than they should have been. Officially, the number of affected vehicles sits at about 60,000. But Consumer Reports makes a good point: what's up with all of the previous model year SUVs that are basically the same vehicle? To wit: the 2016 model year vehicles are not substantially different than the 2015 or the 2014, or even going all the way back to 2007. On the EPA's fuel economy website, all of these older models will "have better stated fuel economy numbers than the new vehicles in GM's dealerships," Consumer Reports noted. CR's best point, and the one that makes the 60,000 number potentially grow to 2 million if all of the vehicles built on this platform are affected, is that "[i]t seems unlikely that the company would change the powertrain on these carryover models so late in their model cycles in a way that would cause a dramatic, negative impact on fuel economy." GM says that earlier model year SUVs are not affected and the EPA did not respond to CR's question about the potential for more discrepancies. We've seen automakers reverse course before, so if GM has to come out with a mea culpa soon, don't be surprised. GM is rushing corrected stickers to dealers so that the SUVs can be sold again, but a fix for the already-sold vehicles could be trickier to solve. GM pickup truck plant in Flint to add 1,000 assembly workers
Tue, Feb 5 2019FLINT, Mich. — General Motors said Tuesday it will add 1,000 workers to build new heavy-duty pickup trucks at its plant in Flint, Michigan, and will give priority to GM workers who were laid off elsewhere. The announcement comes the day after GM said it was starting to hand pink slips to about 4,000 salaried workers in the latest round of a restructuring announced in late November that will ultimately shrink its white-collar workforce in North America by 15 percent out of 54,000. GM has come under fire from U.S. President Donald Trump and Midwestern lawmakers for its plans to stop production at five North American factories and cut up to 15,000 jobs in all. The automaker has said it is trying to find new jobs for 1,500 U.S. hourly workers at the affected plants. Flint's truck plant could be a haven for many of these employees. Sales of heavy-duty pickups in the United States have grown to more than 600,000 vehicles a year, up more than 20 percent since 2013, according to industry data. Prices for luxury models can easily top $70,000. GM on Tuesday will celebrate the launch of a new generation of heavy-duty GMC and Chevrolet pickups at the assembly plant in Flint, Michigan, that is now building all such trucks for the company. Elsewhere in the company on Monday, two people briefed on the cuts in the white-collar salaried workforce said GM is cutting hundreds of jobs at its information technology centers in Texas, Georgia, Arizona and Michigan and more than 1,000 jobs at its Warren, Michigan Tech Center. GM is filing new required mass layoff notices with state agencies and disclosed the cuts to lawmakers. The largest U.S. automaker announced in November it would cut a total of about 15,000 jobs and end production at five North American plants. The cuts include eliminating about 8,000 salaried workers, or about 15 percent. GM cut about 1,500 contract workers in December and said 2,300 salaried workers accepted buyouts, officials said. "These actions are necessary to secure the future of the company, including preserving thousands of jobs in the U.S. and globally. We are taking action now while the overall economy and job market are strong, increasing the ability of impacted employees to continue to advance in their careers, should they choose to do so," GM spokesman Pat Morrissey said, adding the bulk of the cuts should be completed in the next two weeks. Morrissey said GM would provide salaried workers with severance packages and job placement services.
