well, ive decided to sell my car. nothings wrong with it and I really really like it, but ive decided to buy another turbo coupe. so, here she is. the car has the actual 5.7 LT1, not the 4.3 L99. has newer trans in it with Kevlar clutches, shift kit, and a higher stall torque converter. trans has about 40k on it, and is in perfect working order. shifts really firm and will squawk 2nd gear when half throttle or more. engine runs perfect, has great oil pressure, leaks nothing, uses noting, burns nothing. This car was a well taken care of car. I just did brakes, rotors, and bearings up front. rear end just had the gear lube changed. while changing the lube, I inspected the diff and gears. they are in perfect shape with no slop or excessive wear of any kind, and it is an 8.5 rear end. has four wheel disc brakes and will need rear pads soon, but if I still have it when they need it, ill change them. im great about maintenance and repairs being done on time and right. you could literally take this car anywhere and I wouldn't even blink an eye about it. there is one thing that does not work on it and that is the temp gauge. I believe its the sensor, but haven't gotten around to it yet. the car drives straight and is quiet. no pops, clunks, squeaks, etc. rides great. it has a cold air intake, and exhaust work with magnaflow mufflers. it sounds good with a nice rumble. now, for the history of the car. This car was the police chief of elgin illinois police departments car. it has never had a cage in it, it did have the light bar and antennas on it, but the holes have been plugged, not siliconed. the car is in really good condition, not all beat to shit like most regular patrol cars. I am the third owner, and the guy I got it from bought it from the police department with 80 some thousand miles (I saw it on the title when I got it) ten years ago. I got it from him in November of 2013 with 150k on it. it has been my daily driver and it has started on the coldest days. I have several extra parts that go with the car. I have a set of rust free rear doors for it that are complete, just wire up bolt on and go. theres nothing wrong with the doors on it now other than they still don't open from the inside. I have the original airbox set up, extra certified cluster for it, extra set of wheel bearings, drivers side complete head light with mount, several beauty rings for it, full sized matching spare, original grille, and im sure theres more. I currently have a nice pioneer cd player in it with two 10" kicker comps powered by a cap and 760 watt pioneer amp. it rocks to classic rock and hard rock!!!! im asking $2850 for it and im firm on the price. considering the condition of the car and the extras for it, im more than fair on the price. so don't ask me to take less unless I start keeping things, but even then I wont go down much. the title is free and clear and in my name. the mileage will go up because it is my daily driver still. there is no warrantee implied or written with the car. it is sold as is, where is. you are responsible for shipping. cash is king, but will accept money order or certified bank check. car does not leave my possession until I have full payment. which means if you don't bring cash, it doesn't leave until what you bring clears and I have the money. all in all, I would rate this car a 7 out of 10 because it is that nice. I put an impala ss grille on it because I like how it looks, but everything else is still caprice. fel free to call, text or email with questions. 815-977-2427. thank you for looking at my ad. I have several pictures of the car, but cant get them to upload. I got lucky with one picture I guess. thanks. oh, I will consider trades of 87-88 turbo coupe, or possibly a super coupe, but that's it. |

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
The best Super Bowl car commercials from the last 5 years
Wed, Jan 28 2015If you've been dipping into the Autoblog feed over the past days and weeks, you wouldn't even have to be a sports fan to know the Super Bowl is coming up. Automakers have been teasing their spots for the big game, dropping them days early, fully-formed onto the Internet and otherwise trying to amp up the multi-million-dollar outlays that they've made for air time on the biggest advertising day of the year. And, we're into it. The lead up to the Super Bowl is almost akin to a mini auto show around these parts; with automakers being amongst the most prolific advertisers on these special Sundays. The crop of ads from 2015 looks as strong as ever, but we thought we'd take a quick look back at some of our favorite spots from the last five years. Take a look at our picks – created from a very informal polling of Autoblog editors and presented in no particular order – and then tell us about your recent faves, in Comments. Chrysler, Imported From Detroit Chrysler, Eminem and a lingering pan shot of "The Fist" – it doesn't get much more Motown than 2011's Imported From Detroit. With the weight of our staffers hailing from in and around The D, it's no wonder that our memories still favor this epic Super Bowl commercial (even though the car it was shilling was crap). Imported really set the tone for later Chrysler ads, too, repeated the formula: celebrity endorsement + dramatic copy + dash of jingoism = pulled car-guy heartstrings. Mercedes-Benz, Soul teaser with Kate Upton One of our favorite Super Bowl commercials (and yours, based on the insane number of views you logged) didn't even technically air during the game. Mercedes-Benz teased its eventual spot Soul with 90-seconds worth of Kate Upton threatening to do her best Joy Harmon impression. (Teaser indeed.) It doesn't win points for cleverness, use of music, acting, or any compelling carness, but it proved that Mercedes' advertisers knew how to make a splash in the Internet Age. And, hey, it's still classier than every GoDaddy commercial. Kia, A Dream Car. For Real Life Like the Mercedes video above, the initial draw here is a pretty lady; in this case the always stunning Adriana Lima. But this Kia commercial really delivers the extra effort we expect while scarfing crabby snacks and homemades, too. First of all, Motley Crue. Second, a cowboy on a bucking rhino. Enjoy yet again.
Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?
Sun, Jul 9 2023The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric. Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands. If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla. Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor. Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have: Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.
