Chevy Camaro Z28 Iroc Convertible 5-speed 13k Orig Miles!! on 2040-cars
|
Hi Everyone, Available is a Stunning 89 IROC-Z convertible in the most desirable color combination and drivetrain. Car is a 305, 5.0L TPI, 5-speed. Has 13k original miles, never driven in rain in inclement weather. Deluxe cloth interior with just about all options. Most of the 13k miles were put on it by the current owner since 2005. Blue with a gray cloth interior, Black top, very original benchmark level car. 100% original paint, no accidents ever, no rust ever, was a southern car until it was shipped up to Mass about 6-7 years ago when bought. Never been driven in any foul weather and it's always garaged. Yes, the car has the original "ink-mark-still-showing" GoodYear Gatorback tires (which are near impossible to find and validate the mileage), as well as the original GM floor mats. Photocopy of the original window sticker is available. Car has no stories, just a collector owned car since day 1. Currently on it's 4th owner. The following has been replaced over the years: the injectors, MAF sensor, plugs, antenna (with stationary antenna), radio (YES the original is included, none of the wires were cut when the CD player was installed), and all fluids. The battery has been replaced too. Car is fun to drive and ALWAYS gets attention at cruise nights and car shows. Like anything, if you want to use it to drive it, it should have the tires replaced, they are definitely old and are starting to dry rot. If you want to get real critical, the car does have a very small ding or two that you need to climb all over it to find, but it's really a very nice car. The top does have some very small wear from being down and the vinyl boot around the rear deck has the wear marks from the top (see pics, every one of these cars does this, it's due to design). Also, the arm rests are just starting to separate (again, they all do this over time and it's easily fixable). They are only original once and thirdgen Camaros and Firebird with low mileage and the right options / colors are starting to skyrocket in value, they have recently been in the press about how they are great to collect as they are going up in value quickly. Buy this one to enjoy before the prices go nuts. I am posting for a very close friend, if you have any questions, I will get you in touch with him direct. You are welcome to view the car if serious prior to making a bid. Serious bids only please!! Car is located in Worcester MA, about an hour from Boston. If you do not have the funds, please do not bid. He may consider a partial trade for a low mile ram air trans am convertible with a 6-speed, nothing else. I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. $2,000 is due within 24 hours of auction close. The rest is due within 7 days, cash or certified bank check only. The car must be picked up within 7 days of auction close. The buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements. Thanks! |

Chevy Malibu will become 45-mpg strong hybrid with next update
Wed, Mar 25 2015Come next year there'll be no more mild hybrid pretensions for the Chevrolet Malibu - the next-generation sedan will borrow technology from the 2016 Volt and get a proper hybrid powertrain. A 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine gets help from a two-motor drive unit adapted from the Volt for 182 system horsepower, the motor drive powered by an 80-cell, 1.5-kWh lithium-ion battery. Chevrolet says that when combined with features like grille shutters and a lower ride height, it expects the Malibu Hybrid will post a combined fuel economy rating of more than 45 miles per gallon, which would best the hybrid trims of the Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata. Electric power alone can power the car up to 55 miles per hour, and The Bowtie's first use of exhaust gas heat recovery will help maintain high hybrid performance in cold weather and be used to heat the engine and cabin. The Malibu Hybrid should go on sale in the Spring of next year, for now there's a press release below. Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid Derives Technology from Volt GM estimates combined fuel economy ratings to exceed 45 mpg DETROIT, 2015-03-25 – Chevrolet's recent production announcement of its all-electric vehicle based on the Bolt EV concept, as well as the introduction of the 2016 Chevrolet Volt, will be joined by a strong hybrid version of the next-generation Malibu. Using technology from the 2016 Chevrolet Volt propulsion system, Malibu Hybrid will offer an estimated combined fuel economy rating exceeding 45 mpg, higher than the combined mileage ratings of the Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata hybrid variants. "The 2016 Malibu Hybrid will offer impressive fuel economy, exceptional driving characteristics and gorgeous styling," said Jesse Ortega, Chevrolet Malibu chief engineer. "Besides leveraging innovation from the Chevrolet Volt, the Malibu Hybrid also has unique features that help improve aerodynamics, like upper and lower grille air shutters to improve airflow and a reduced ride height, all of which help reduce fuel consumption," Ortega said. An all-new direct-injection 1.8L 4-cylinder engine mated to a two-motor drive unit slightly modified from the 2016 Chevrolet Volt drive unit powers the Malibu Hybrid. The drive unit provides additional power to assist the engine during acceleration, for 182 horsepower (136 kW) of total system power.
Chevy Colorado gets box delete option designed for upfitters
Fri, Mar 6 2015The Colorado, which marks the return of Chevrolet to the midsize truck segment, is receiving critical praise, and now it's time for the pickup to get to work. At the National Truck Equipment Association Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN, Chevy is unveiling a box delete option package for the model that allows businesses to custom tailor the Colorado to their needs. The choice to remove the bed is exclusively available on the Colorado Work Truck trim in the rear-wheel drive, extended cab model with a 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 and six-speed automatic gearbox, and Chevy claims this is the only option of its type in the segment. Beyond the obvious loss of the rear, these trucks feature eight mounting points on the frame for upfitters to install any necessary modifications. They also get the Z82 trailering package and a locking differential. The versions with the box delete package carry a payload rating of 2,200 pounds an a gross vehicle weight rating of 6,001 pounds. "It's ideal for utility companies requiring service bodies, as well as landscapers and other businesses needing the utility of a flatbed," Ed Peper, US Vice President for General Motors Fleet and Commerical, said in the option's announcement. Further options with the package are limited to choosing a repositioned fuel filler for the upfitter to install and deleting the rear seat for extra interior capacity. The box delete becomes available in mid-April, and buyers get a $300 credit off the price of the Colorado when it's selected. Colorado 'Box Delete' Expands Options for Businesses Chevrolet package offers unique midsize pickup platform for alternative uses 2015-03-04 INDIANAPOLIS – With a box delete option, business owners and fleet managers can have it their way when it comes to customizing the back end of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. Chevrolet today announced availability of the package in mid-April. It is on display this week at the annual National Truck Equipment Association Work Truck Show in Indianapolis. It is the only such option offered in the midsize truck segment. "With the segment-leading efficiency and maneuverable size, the Colorado makes a great, flexible choice for urban businesses and fleets to make the most of a midsize truck," said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, GM Fleet & Commercial.
GM opens official investigation into C8 Corvette transmission leaks
Mon, Nov 1 2021In March 2020, a month after Chevrolet began customer deliveries of the 2020 C8 Corvette, a GM dealer technician created a Reddit thread about a leaking gearbox in a Corvette with 32 miles. That car hadn't even been sold yet. Since then, as a search of "C8 Corvette transmission leak" shows, it's been tales of woe for some owners. Something in the Tremec TR-9080 transaxle in the back of the mid-engined Corvette doesn't work as it should, the fault able to cause codes that the transmission needs service, or that the driver needs to shift to park. In some cases, the battery would die because of follow-on issues after the initial transmission code, that code preventing the car from powering down. As Autoevolution reports, GM filed paperwork with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in August to look into what's going on. Between forum threads and GM's investigation document, there are several issues mentioned. The most common appears to be the dual-clutch transmission leaking fluid due to gasket failures like the one suffered by one owner at 858 miles, and another for an owner currently enduring a second leaking transmission. The Midengined Corvette Forum reported that Chevy engineers redesigned the TR-9080 pan, fitting Corvettes with the new unit at some point in the 2021 model year. The original pan was stamped steel unit affixed to the engine with two studs and 13 bolts, plus "reinforcement plates." The updated pan is said to be a cast aluminum unit affixed with two studs and 17 bolts, omits the reinforcement plates, and gets a new machined new groove around its edge to seat the gasket seal. The GM paperwork now at the NHTSA mentions a P1789 code, and says one reason for it could be "debris on the park position sensor magnet causing an incorrect position reading to the TCM." This might be caused by another issue mentioned in forums, which is clogged transmission filters. GM gives instructions for returning transmission filters to the company, and a poster on one forum said the Corvette tech at the dealer where he bought his Corvette told him the automaker "requires every used transmission filter to be returned to GM."Â Whatever's going on, the problems haven't stopped, and they go beyond the P1789 code. Over the weekend, a 2022 Corvette owner posted on Corvette Forums that he got a check engine light on his car after just 850 miles.
