Nice 2000 SS Camaro, Hard top. Above-average condition. Six speed manual.  Black with red stripes.  I bought this car last fall here in Montana.  It has exceeded my expectations, and could be an 8 or 9 out of 10 without a lot of money spent.  If it does not sell, my goal is to bring it back to original condition, with correction of minor dings and scratches; get rid of the stripes; add a new coat of black paint; original rims; etc. Could be a valuable, collectible car.  With a new set of tires, I would not be afraid to take on an extended highway trip.  Of course, it is a 13 year old car; AS-IS, where-is in Billings, Montana; no warranty of any kind; clear title in hand.  Bid to win, no scams please.

Highlights:
Nice paint, some blemishes referenced below.  Stripes do not detract from the car, but obviously are not stock and are not everyone's cup of tea.
Nice dark gray/charcoal cloth interior; coffee or other dark stain on passenger side floor carpet.  No apparent rips or tears in cloth interior.
LS1 runs great.  Climbs through rpm range smoothly and with ease; idles nicely. Power train appears stock.
Low mileage.  Just under 65,000.
Brakes work well.
Clutch engages well.
Exhaust appears stock; relatively quiet at idle and low rpm.
Manual transmission shifts well; goes through all gears without chatter; no known "popping out of gear" or other manual transmission issues.
CD player works.
Body lines and panel gaps are very nice.

Known Mechanical Issues:
Tires are of mismatched wear and need immediate replacement; tend to follow ruts in the road.
Front speakers do not seem to function.
Rims do not appear stock.
Has common Camaro turn signal problem.  I am told replacement of front turn-signal housings and sockets solve this problem, but I am not sure.  Turn signals currently do not blink.  Have not tried replacement of the blinker.

Known Body Issues:
Expected dings and scratches, most not visible from 10 or more feet.
2-3" crack on front plastic fascia near driver's turn signal which I am told can be repaired.  Not visible from 10 or more feet away.
"SS" badge on right front fender needs replacement.
Peeling, irritating window tint from previous owner should be removed.
Inner plastic housing around gasoline filler tube is disconnected.

Buy it now and reserve substantially lowered.  Great opportunity for a nice car at a really reasonable price.

Snapped a few more pictures today...car is dirty, but it is jet black when washed.  One of the pictures shows the crack in the front near the driver's side turn signal.  I noticed the lock cylinder for the rear hatch is loose.  The hatch still opens with the key fob (which still works).  Started the car up and moved it around for the photos - sounds NICE!!  Good luck, and happy bidding.

Buy it now and reserve dropped again...come on bidders, this is a great deal, and a wonderful present to yourself on Easter.  :-)

This is how GM is hiding new Chevy Volt in public

Wed, Oct 1 2014

General Motors is letting the public know that, well, it's not about to let the public know anything else about the next-generation Chevrolet Volt. But the automaker is willing to talk about its camouflaging process for upcoming versions of the extended-range plug-in. So it's a half-hearted secret, at best. GM actually has a "camouflage engineer" charged with creating ways to disguise the styling of new vehicles. In the Volt's case, the company is applying black and white swirly color patterns on top of the materials, such as plastics, vinyl and foam, that are used liberally across the body. It's all part of a teaser campaign that started last month with pictures of part the 2016 Volt. Earlier this month, GM said it was keeping track of Volt drivers' habits as it works on the next-gen model. The company noted that more than four out of five trips are being made in all-electric driving mode, and that 60 percent of Volt owners use a plain-old 100-volt outlet to recharge their cars. The car is slated to make its global debut at Detroit's North American International Auto Show next January, and the early word is that performance and all-electric range will be improved (we should hope so). The car will also be sleeker. By how much, we can't tell yet, because of those darn swirly patterns. GM's got more non-details in its press release below. Engineers charged with hiding styling while vehicle testing proceeds in public DETROIT – The styling of the next-generation Chevrolet Volt is one of the automotive world's best-kept secrets. Keeping customers and media eager to see the successor to the groundbreaking original at bay until the new Volt debuts at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January is tricky business. First, it is engineers, not designers, who are charged with creating camouflage that balances styling secrecy with the need to validate the Volt and its systems in public. "If it were up to me it would be a shoebox driving down the road," said Lionel Perkins, GM camouflage engineer. "The design team wants us to cover more of the vehicle and the engineering team needs to have enough of the vehicle's weight and aero exposed so that the tests in the development process are consistent with the product that will come to market." The engineers responsible for the "cool" designs covering the car might deserve style points but their efforts are intended strictly to hide the metal beneath.

Cadillac CT6 production ceases January 2020 as part of D-Ham layoffs

Fri, Dec 6 2019

General Motors filed paperwork under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act with Michigan's Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity this week, detailing events to come at the automaker's Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Starting February 28, 814 salaried and hourly workers at D-Ham, as its called, will be laid off. The 753 workers represented by the UAW will begin receiving offers in January to relocate to facilities in Michigan and Ohio, or buyout offers. As the 4-million-square-foot plant winds down through April 3 to a skeleton crew, the Cadillac CT6 ceases production in January 2020, and the last Chevrolet Impala comes off the line on February 28. The loss of the CT6 represents the end of Cadillac's latest brief, and highly regarded, adventure into flagship sedans. It might also mean the end of the 4.2-liter Blackwing twin-turbo V8 engine, at least for the moment. Both casualties are calamities. The death of the Impala closes the door on a nameplate in production for 52 years since 1957, having started off as a top-tier trim for the 1958 Bel Air known as the Bel Air Impala, once advertised with the line, "Lets you know you're the boss." As part of the new four-year labor agreement with the UAW, GM is keeping D-Ham open to build a new line of battery-electric vehicles, ultimately investing $3 billion and tripling employment to 2,225 workers when fully operational. The agreement described the coming EV as a "van" that would commence production in late 2021, but various reports say what's actually coming is a range of premium EVs in pickup and SUV bodystyles under the program codename BT1. The easy predictions put an electric GMC Sierra and Cadillac Escalade among the EV fold, but not until 2023, according to auto industry forecaster LMC Automotive. Before that, LMC claims an electric van will debut in late 2021, along with a battery-powered rebirth of the Hummer brand in pickup and SUV forms, also in late 2021.

GM's Reuss predicts 2016 Chevy Camaro will outperform Ford Mustang in every way

Tue, Apr 7 2015

We aren't going to be seeing the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro until next month. But even though we know when we're going to see the new muscle car, it's totally unclear whether Chevy will dole out technical details. That means we can't answer the latest version of the age-old question: Camaro or Ford Mustang? Not surprisingly, General Motors North America President Mark Reuss has already stated his position, saying he was "very confident" that the sixth-generation Camaro will be faster, more agile and more efficient than the Ford. Reuss made his comments after saying he drove the new Camaro back-to-back with the Mustang the week prior. Reuss' statement came in a conversation with Fox News about the 2016 Camaro where he elaborated on the car's weight shedding and how it fit into GM's strategy on other new models. "There are some really cool things in the Camaro, that are quite different than the Malibu, [and] CT6," Reuss told Fox. As we reported previously, the Camaro will shed some 200 pounds by switching to aluminum and other lightweight composites for some of its components. With May 16 just over a month away, here's hoping Reuss decides to loose some other details on the next Camaro ahead of its debut. Related Video:
