If you like attention, this is the car for you.  I ordered this phenomenal ZL1 in January, 2012, just before Chevrolet began manufacturing them in Oshawa, Canada.  She was born in April, 2012 and arrived at the dealership in San Antonio for delivery on 8 May, 2012.  The vehicle, number 872 of approximately 2,000 built in 2012, is in excellent condition with only minor unavoidable front end nicks, which you will find on every road-driven vehicle.   This ZL1 received extensive detailing last Spring in preparation for an indoor car show (Autorama) and has only been driven on a few occasions since.  Detailing included removal of every wheel to allow a full cleaning of the complicated suspension system.   This car is extremely clean and show ready.

While this ZL1 can still tear up the track, she has yet to hit the track in her short two years of life.  She was built for and has been strictly used in car shows and in car club events.  Her accomplishments are numerous including over 40 trophies, with a majority of first place finishes and several best of shows.  This is quite an accomplishment for a newer vehicle normally matched up against pristine vehicles from all generations.

Her highlight was just a few months ago when she received a highly coveted award from Al Oppenheiser, GM's chief of rear-wheel performance vehicles and lead engineer for the fifth generation Camaro.  He was extremely impressed with the fit and finish of the work on the ZL1 and hand-picked this Camaro as his top choice from over 700 in attendance at this year's Camaro5 Fest V.   When requested, Mr. Oppenheiser gladly signed both the strut tower and the passenger visor.   Other significant awards include International Show Car Assn (ISCA) Street Achievement Awards for Best Engine (2013) and Modern Muscle (2014) and a perfect 300 score for a best of show trophy at an event featuring over 100 vehicles.

Enhancements to this ZL1, to make her a true show competitor, include:
- Lambo Doors (by Vertical Doors)
- Reverse Hood (by Revolution Styling)
- Custom Stainless Steel throughout (by American Car Craft) for project video see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7X5IgY4LNmo
- CD/DVD Head Unit (by Clarion / Model NX602)
- Amplifiers (by JL Audio / Models 500x1V2 & 300x4V2)
- Speakers (by Focal / Models P165V30 & IC690)
- Subwoofers (by JL Audio / Model 12W6V2D4)
- 15" Monitor in Trunk Lid (by T-View / Model T156IRBK)
- Custom Fiberglass Tub in Trunk w/ Engraved and Lighted Plexiglass Revealing Woofers & Amplifiers
- Auxiliary Battery (Model BT60)
- Car Alarm w/ Glass Break Sensor (by Viper / Model 5704)
- Radar Detector (by Passport / Model 8500ci)
- Fire Extinguisher, Chrome w/ Custom Mount on Front of Driver's Seat

Bid with confidence.  This is an extremely well built, track-ready muscle car that will attract attention wherever you go and is a sure standout at any car show.

How two-state Chevy Spark EV outsold 50-state Volt last month

Mon, May 4 2015

Is it really just about price? Last month, the Chevy Spark EV got a sizable price drop of $1,500 alongside a lowered lease price of $139 a month (down from $199). Those numbers, particularly that cheap lease, had a tremendous impact on how many all-electric Sparks GM sold last month. There were 920 Spark EVs sold in April, and the Spark EV is available in only two states: California and Oregon. Sales will start in Maryland in the third quarter of 2015, but there are no pre-orders taking place there, so all 920 were West Coast sales. To be more precise, there were about 864 Spark EV leases signed last month, since 94 percent of those 920 sales were retail leases. As Annalisa Bluhm from Chevrolet communications told AutoblogGreen, that level was, "simply insane." "In those states which offer Spark EV, you can get a 1LT Spark EV for less than a 1LT Spark, with more features" Bluhm said. "Factor in that you will save approximately $82 per month by abstaining from gas, and it's easy to see why people went crazy for the Spark." Let's put 920 into perspective. For one thing, it's crazy up from the 151 Spark EVs sold in March 2015 and the 97 sold in April 2014. It's also almost as many as GM sold all last year, and way more than two years ago. The General sold 653 Spark EVs in 2013 and 1,146 in 2014. To throw in a comparison with GM's longstanding plug-in champion, the aging Volt, the Spark EV came out ahead in the monthly tally for the first time ever. In April, the Volt sold 905 units. The plug-in hybrid's best-ever sales month was August 2013, when it sold 3,351 units. Counting all models and powertrains, Chevy sold 3,743 Sparks in April. So, does this success mean that Chevy is looking to bring the Spark EV to more markets? Bluhm said that GM is considering other states and is always looking at the business case, but has "nothing to announce yet." MotorWeek Retro Review revisits 1984 Corvette

Thu, Oct 1 2015

MotorWeek's Retro Reviews are always a great glimpse into the cars of yesteryear. However, the newly uploaded look back at the 1984 Chevrolet Corvette is an absolute treasure trove for any auto history buff. This is a full episode of the show from the '80s, and it's dedicated to all of the details about the newest 'Vette to hit the market at the time. Beyond just the usual drive and an in-depth walk around, one of the major highlights here is a brief look at some on the concepts that eventually resulted in the fourth-generation Corvette of 1984. The C4's shape harkens back to sketches from 1978, and there even shots of early clay models that led the way for the design. MotorWeek also takes a tour through the Bowling Green, KY, factory for a detailed inspection of the entire production process. John Davis repeatedly calls the Corvette "the plastic fantastic" during the episode, and he can't find too much negative to say about being behind the wheel of the then-new coupe. See how it stands up to your own memories in the clip above.

GM pauses 3.0-liter turbodiesel production due to a supplier shortage

Mon, Aug 30 2021

General Motors confirmed it has temporarily stopped taking orders for trucks and SUVs equipped with the 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel six-cylinder engine. It blamed the last-minute pause on a supplier-related shortage. Website TFL Truck first reported the news, and a representative from General Motors quickly confirmed it. The spokesperson explained the issue is due to a "temporary part shortage" and added that production will resume "as soon as possible," meaning the Duramax engine (which is called LM2 internally) is not going away permanently. Additional details are not available, so we don't know if the issue is related to the ongoing chip shortage. Rather than delay deliveries and create a backlog, General Motors is reportedly asking its dealers to encourage buyers who want a turbodiesel engine to instead select either the 5.3-liter V8 or the 6.2-liter V8, depending on the model selected. Both are gasoline-powered units. There's no word yet on when Duramax production will resume. The shortage affects several models, including Chevrolet's Tahoe, Suburban, and Silverado 1500 and GMC's variants of these trucks. Cadillac's Escalade is temporarily diesel-less as well. Heavy Duty variants of the Silverado and the Sierra are not affected because they're powered by a different Duramax engine with eight cylinders. Motorists seeking a full-size SUV powered by an efficient turbodiesel engine are temporarily out of options because the Tahoe/Yukon and the Suburban/Yukon XL had the segment to themselves. The Duramax was surprisingly popular, too: in May 2021, GM Authority reported that the turbodiesel straight-six represented 8% of Suburban sales and 6% of Tahoe sales. Installed in a rear-wheel-drive Tahoe, the engine returns 21 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 24 mpg in a combined cycle, figures that make the body-on-frame behemoth more efficient than the unibody, front-wheel-drive Chevrolet Blazer that's 20 inches shorter and approximately 1,700 pounds lighter.
