Car is running but not driving safely. The battery is currently dead. I've had the car a few years. It IS a Rebuilt titled car. Registration is expired but car is currently in San Diego, CA. As far as I'm aware this car has been "totaled" by previous owner. You can check the VIN 2g15p32k2y2140723. My dad bought it for me and left an acquaintance to rebuild it while he went on vacation when he returned he saw that the idiot put on the wrong front end (its a 97 front end on a 2000.) I have no interest in this car anymore due to not personally knowing a mechanic where I currently live that will charge a fair price to fix it along with the fact I don't want to afford the insurance and a car seat can't quite fit in it. Buyer must pick up car at my residence and transport whatever way they want. Car only has 61201 miles on it due to it sitting for extended periods of time.Tires were in GREAT condition but since it hasn't moved much in a year (3x to be exact) they may have flat spots. Problems listed below stated by a local mechanic.

Steering rack needs replaced
Radiator needs flushed
Fuel pressure sensor needs replaced (sensor is malfunctioning, fuel pump is relatively new)

Now I am not aware of any other issues if their are any.

About the rack. I transferred this car on a dolly, drive shaft was removed but steering wheel was locked so when we arrived at our location we realized it was broken. Had the column, rack, pinion replaced. It was fine after that till we again moved and dragged it on a dolly again. Drive shaft was taken out wheel was left loose when we arrived at our location we put the drive shaft back in and it drove for a long time but eventually started making a noise when turning right (or left I forget which) and then became difficult to steer in that direction. Its been sitting 1 yr which brings us to date.

Car has stock CD player and GM issued amplifier built into trunk. Front speakers are blown. Top leaks when it rains heavily and condenses beneath rear passenger bucket seat ( I had a hard time finding where it leaks at.) Any cosmetic damage is pictured which is pretty much the front drivers side corner. Also convertible top needs a scrubbing, a pressure washer will clean it up easily.

Sold as is.

Feel free to ask questions.

*added note- I forgot to mention in the original description that the passenger side power window motor needs replaced. It works but hardly and occasionally.

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.

This 450-hp electric Lotus Evora is powered by Tesla and Chevrolet

Tue, May 9 2017

When someone mentions an electric Lotus, the first thing that comes to mind is the Tesla Roadster, the California-based automaker's first vehicle. That car started life as an Elise before being heavily massaged and adapted by Tesla's engineers. In a similar spirit, the people at Onpoint Dyno are close to finishing Blue Lightning, a track-ready all-electric Lotus Evora. Blue Lightning uses a Tesla drive unit and a Chevrolet Volt battery pack, both mounted in the middle in place of the Evora's 3.5-liter Toyota V6. It's putting down about 450 horsepower at the wheels. The car was built for time attack sessions, so power is fed through custom forged wheels and super sticky Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires, the same ones found on the last Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. There is a custom digital instrument cluster in place of the Lotus gauges. There's also a regen paddle on the left side of the steering wheel. With a full charge, Blue Lighting should go about 120 miles. While the car runs under its own power, it's only about 90 percent complete. It has no power steering, no firewall in between the seats and the motor and battery pack, no A/C, and a large hole where the shift lever used to be. Other final touches include fine-tuning the brakes and suspension. There is also a custom rear bumper coming that should make it look more like the new Lotus Evora 400. Onpoint Dyno expects the car to hit the track in the next month or so. Related Video:

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
