This is the first year (1996) Chevrolet brought back the Camaro SS.  It left the factory as a Z28 and was sent to SLP (Street Legal Performance) to have the transformation made to a SS.  This is the only year Chevrolet used the Z28/SS logo together.  It is also the only year that a numbered console plaque and an air filter housing with that logo was installed on the vehicle.  You will see that logo in my pics including the key chain that has been wrapped in tissue and kept in my wife's jewelry box all these years.  I had custom painted cans with GAS, WATER, OIL made with that logo as well to show the car.  These too will go to the next owner.

I am the original owner of this car.  I purchased the car in 1998 w/300 miles on the odometer but it had never been titled to anyone prior to this.  I have complete documentation of this car in a binder which is available for anyone to see.  The tires have less than 3,000 miles on them.  One of the original BFG Competition T/A's had a bit of dry rot at 6800 miles.  It was covered under warranty but the exact tire was no longer available.  I decided to replace all 4 tires with a current set of BFG G-force.  So I took the warranty on the one tire and sold the other three.  All documentation about that is also available.

I was 44 years old when I purchased this car (now 60).  So you might say one mature owner.  This car has never been raced and has been kept completely original.  It is garage kept, never driven in the rain.  I won't even pick up take out food in this car.  It still smells new.  I like to show the car and take it for a spin on nice weather days.

I have never listed a car on Ebay.  The buyer will be responsible for any shipping to get the car to their location.  This will be a cash transaction and I must have a certified check verified before transferring the vehicle.  I have a clear and free title to the car.  Please feel free to bid with confidence on this rare find Camaro Z28/SS.  My car is #1031 of 2410 total cars built.

Why does Chevy want to trademark Camaro Krypton?

Mon, Jun 1 2015

The Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang have the type of long-lived rivalry that is often found in the pages of comic books. Is the Camaro the Kryptonite to the Mustang's Superman, though? We might get to find out soon, if two recent trademark filings are any hints. On May 5, General Motors filed trademarks in the US for both Krypton and Camaro Krypton (not pictured above). While the move seemed potentially timed with the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year, engineer Al Oppenheiser shot that theory down to The Detroit Free Press. "I think that's just Internet buzz, which is great," he said to the newspaper about the alleged connection. "It's another thing about this segment of cars: there's always Internet buzz." Rather than a special edition connected to next the superhero film, Oppenheiser speculated something else. "Sometimes when we come up with a new color in our studios, they just apply [for a trademark] in case we ever use it," he said to The Detroit Free Press. "We never said we're going to do anything with that color." Still, as Superman's home planet and part of the name for the mineral that can harm him, Krypton undoubtedly has a superhero connection. To maintain the link to the comics, such a color would likely be a shade of green. Although, depending on the depiction in the books, the exact hue can vary between bright neon and a darker tone. Body shop manager stole over $500,000 worth of government trucks and parts

Fri, Jan 27 2017

The US Department of Justice announced yesterday that the manager of a collision and restoration business in Virginia admitted he helped misappropriate and sell vehicles and parts from the State Department. Specifically, he sold 12 Chevrolet Suburbans, a Hummer, and $7,500 worth of tires and wheels. He pled guilty to charges to commit theft of government property and wire fraud. He will likely see 18 to 20 months in prison, a fine of $4,000 to $40,000, and has already agreed to pay restitution of $416,020 and asset forfeiture of the same amount. According to the Department of Justice, the body shop manager, James Ratcliffe, worked with the owner of the business and a State Department official, both unnamed, to obtain the property. It started with the wheels and tires, which were delivered and sold on two occasions, one in 2011 and another in 2012. The trucks came later, and were sold throughout 2011 and 2013. Ratcliffe and the shop owner kept most of the profits, and shared some of the leftovers with the government official. In addition to the vehicles that were sold, the government official also gave Ratcliffe a pair of Suburbans for his own personal use. The Department of Justice estimated the total value of the SUVs at $96,400. In total, the group misappropriated $512,420 worth of property. Related Video:
