I am listing this '87 IROC Z-28 Camaro for a friend of mine. The IROC has a 5.0L 305 ci tuned port injected V-8 engine and a four speed automatic overdrive transmission. The engine runs strong but I believe that the fuel injection throttle plate assembly needs disassembled and cleaned. The engine has a low off idle skip in one spot but if you accelerate just a little it clears up and runs good. I currently have the throttle position sensor unplugged as this seems to make the car run better thus this makes the "check engine" light come on. The Z-28 drives fine, brakes fine, and rides "stiff" like an old C-3 Corvette { Yes, I loved those old C-3's } and has nearly a brand new set of tires on it. The body is in very good condition with NO major dents and No rust damage. The paint is in really good condition and shines well { there is some slight scuffing on the passenger front corner please look at the pictures }. The interior is in good shape { seats, door panels, console, etc. } but the dash pad has some kind of top cover and it has wrinkled from the sun. The IROC has T-tops and the rubber weatherstripping around them is good and soft therefore no leaks. The Z-28 will need the rubber side window wipes for they are cracked up from age. The rear hatch glass lock is broken therefore it doesn't latch, it will need the electric retracting latch motor assembly to fix this. Please keep in mind that this is a 26 year old classic third generation camaro that needs some fixing up but the best part is that you can drive it and fix it up as you go. I was putting gas in it today and had a lady pull up beside me, rolled the window down and said to me " Hey, nice car ". I smiled and said " Thank you " and she drove away. I realized then that these factory IROC Camaros are getting rare and hard to find and destined to be as collectible { and high in price } as the first two generations of Camaros before it. The owner has the IROC for sale locally and reserves the right to end the auction at any time. Please look at all the pictures and ask questions and I will get back to you. Cash payment and pickup of vehicle is expected within 7 days of auction close. Buyer is responsible for making all arrangements to pickup vehicle. I am willing to help load vehicle if the buyer uses a transporter. All items are sold as is, where is. Please look at my feedback and bid with confidence, thanks and happy bidding. |

Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head
Mon, Dec 29 2014Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
2015 Chevy Volt gets larger battery, though range remains the same
Sat, Jul 19 2014The Chevrolet Volt isn't changing much for the 2015 model year. According to specifications uncovered by Inside EVs, though, the new Volt's battery does have a slightly larger capacity. According to the spec sheet, this doesn't translate to increased range. Real world driving, though, might tell a different story. The 2015 Volt's battery storage is slightly higher than the outgoing model's, up from 16.5 kilowatt-hours to 17.1 kWh. According to GM's manager of electrification technology communications, Kevin Kelly, speaking to Green Car Reports, the increased capacity is "a late change done in the cell... just another continuous improvement to surprise and delight our customers." The stated electric range, however, stays at 38 miles. Inside EVs followed up on its original report, and found that drivers could see some advantage to the battery tweak. When they spoke to Kelly, he told them, "As a result of this change, we would expect that some customers may see a slight improvement in overall EV range." It's worth noting that when battery capacity increased from 16 kWh to 16.5 kWh for the 2013 Volt, electric range increased by three miles to the current 38, while MPGe went from 94 to 98. The price of the 2015 Chevrolet Volt remains steady, at $34,995. The actual cost to the customer is considerably less with the $7,500 federal tax credit, as well as any local incentives.
National Corvette Museum to recreate sinkhole experience for patrons [UPDATE]
Sun, May 10 2015UPDATE: The Thunderdome at the National Corvette Museum is not a ride; instead it's an experience that mixes digital graphics and thundering sound. For a brief period, it looked like the National Corvette Museum was going to preserve that sinkhole that ate eight important 'Vettes last year. After all, tourism boomed there afterwards. However, keeping the crater would have been more expensive than just doing the repairs. The museum isn't ready to let people completely forget, though, and now intends to make a major attraction out of a recreated version of the calamity. The museum's plan turns the sinkhole disaster into an amusement park ride called the Thunderdome, according to GM Authority. In a smaller recreation of the Skydome, 15 people at a time would get to watch an imitation of the sinkhole devouring the eight Corvettes. To make the experience even more immersive, visitors would get to view this all from an artificial, underground cave. If you missed seeing the actual pit, this would certainly be a bizarre way to experience it. According to GM Authority, the exhibit would also include an explanation of how sinkholes occur. The Corvette museum reportedly wants the attraction open by this fall.
