I am selling my father’s truck that he has had for the past year and this one has been remarkably reliable and is a very healthy one. We are all finished up on the house projects and he is ready to downsize and it’s a shame as it’s a super truck. Here’s what we have:

The mechanicals all check out with straight-As. Under the hood is the 5.7L V8 that pulls very strong and sounds great. The automatic transmission shifts perfectly through the gears with no issues. The brakes are strong and a couple of months ago a portion of line and the rear wheel cylinders were replaced. The suspension is comfortable and tracks smooth with no noises from the wheels. The steering is a bit soft but the truck doesn’t wander excessively and there are no leaks to fault it so we never bothered. It’s an older truck with miles and that’s just how it drives. The exhaust is quiet, the truck doesn’t smoke, and there are no warning lights illuminated. It is two-wheel drive and gets fairly good gas mileage with still enough power to pull a trailer which it does easily with the class-3 hitch on the back. No foreseeable work needs to be done and it’s a turn-key dependable worker.

The interior of the truck is beautiful with nice cloths seats that don’t have any tears, burns or stains, the carpets are in great condition and they were always kept clean. The headliner has a couple small rips but does not sag at all. The dash is in perfect shape with no big cracks, the power buttons all work, the a/c compressor kicks on but doesn’t blow cold and we never had it checked out as it was not a priority, and the heat is red hot so you’ll be comfortable for winter to come. There is an aftermarket cd player installed which as great sound through the factory speakers.

The body of the truck is really nice for a truck that’s been used and driven as there are no rot or bubbles that I can find. I hope some extra pictures of the rockers and fenders aid in my emphasis on how clean of a body it has. There are some small dents, the most notable on the nose of the hood and the tail gate, but all pretty negligible in-the-line-of-duty bumps. The clear coat is fading on the roof but nowhere else around it. There is a nice set of tires on it, the fronts are normal and the backs have some extra ‘nob’ but don’t affect the handling. The bed is in good condition but no liner so the marks are obvious and apparent in the pictures. It’s a good looking one from any angle.

All-in-all this is a really awesome running truck with a very healthy body and interior that has been very well kept. The truck has a clear Florida title and was registered there while my father was living in the state last year. He has opted not to return in the foreseeable future and thus is being sold here in Central NJ. I am selling it with no reserve on auction and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please ask prior to bidding and please respect my integrity as a seller by being a real buyer yourself!

Fri, Nov 15 2019

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski and Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder. 2019 Chicago Auto Show Truck Roundup: Toyota, Ford, Chevy and Ram bring it

Thu, Feb 7 2019

The 2019 Chicago Auto Show features an array of heavy-duty trucks, smaller trucks, other kinds of trucks, and well, more trucks. That means new versions of the 2020 Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty and 2020 Ford F-150 Super Duty, a refreshed 2020 Toyota Tacoma and a trick tailgate on the 2019 Ram 1500. Sound a little crazy? Morgan Stanley research says 68 percent of passenger vehicles sold in the United States last year were classified as light trucks. So actually, bring on the trucks! Here's some impressions on the Chicago reveals, plus our take on the 2020 Subaru Legacy sedan. — Toyota updated the 2020 Tacoma with some light but useful enhancements. An improved infotainment has new audio features and larger screens. The grilles and wheels are different, but nothing drastic. Toyota still offers nice differentiation across the Tacoma lineup, and the design tweaks are subtle but thoughtful. Toyota tends to stretch out the Tacoma's generations, so it's wise to keep modifying and iterating to keep pace in this competitive segment. — Staying with Toyota, the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition is a legit special model that fans of this historic nameplate will appreciate. An anchor of the Toyota line in the United States since 1958, the Land Cruiser's roots date to Toyota's 1951 BJ Series military vehicle. Two colors, Midnight Black and Blizzard Pearl, are exclusive to this model and look slick against the blacked-trimmed grille and lightly bronzed wheels. Inside, bronze stitching is used on the steering wheel, seats, center console and other parts. The best part? Land Cruiser spelled out in script on the rear pillar. It's a limited model (1,200 units) and pricing isn't out yet, but that badge is probably why you buy this SUV. — The 2020 Chevy Silverado HD gets imposing looks that differentiate it from the light-duty range, an eye-popping max towing capability of 35,500 pounds and some updated powertrain elements. A new gas-fed V8 that serves as the entry point is one of the highlights, and the 6.6-liter mill makes 401 hp and 464 lb-ft, up significantly over the old 6.0-liter. There's also a new Allison 10-speed transmission teaming with the Duramax diesel to achieve that lofty max towing figure. With an updated trailering system and a larger cabin, the Silverado HD range is comprehensively remade to fight Ram and Ford. — The 2020 Ford Super Duty is also redone, and like the Chevy line, it gets a new gas V8 checking in at 7.3 liters.

2016 Chevrolet Colorado Diesel First Drive [w/video]

Tue, Oct 6 2015

The first thing you notice inside the diesel Chevy Colorado is that it's quiet. Almost too quiet. A lot has been done to quell noise and vibration with this new powertrain, and it shows – or rather, doesn't. There's some characteristic diesel clatter at idle, but even then it's distant and practically disappears as you start moving down the road. At full throttle, when the engine is at its noisiest, the sound isn't particularly diesel-like, just a pleasant intake breath. The accompanying smoothness is almost eerie. When we ask where all the noise went, Chevy's engineers, marketing guys, and PR reps all explain that this refinement is what Americans want. We're still not sure. This is a truck, after all, and the diesel pickup customer is different from the guy buying a diesel Cruze for his highway commute. Chevy contends that they're also not the same as the buyer of a Silverado HD. Although this 2.8-liter Duramax four-cylinder has been in service elsewhere around the globe, its first US application is in the Colorado and its GMC Canyon twin. The engine puts out 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and it does so unobtrusively as a result of a lot of modifications for our market. To keep normal diesel sensations out of the cabin, the intake and oil pan both get acoustic treatments. A new, thicker material is used for firewall sound deadening. Redesigned balance shafts have tighter tolerances to increase smoothness. The diesel powertrain is smoother than the Colorado's gasoline V6. One of the more interesting and certainly unexpected vibration-reduction changes is a special torque converter from German supplier LuK equipped with a centrifugal pendulum absorber. This pendulum spreads from the center of the torque converter as engine speed increases and is tuned to absorb the four-cylinder's second-order vibrations, not just those in a narrow frequency band. It does an admirable job, especially considering the engine's biggish, 0.7-liter cylinders, which lead to bigger vibrations. The result is a powertrain that's smoother than GM's (not particularly smooth) corporate V6, which is available in the standard Colorado. It's quieter than a Cruze diesel and even out-softens some gas direct-injection engines on the market. Paradoxically, it may be the most refined of all of the Colorados. No vibration comes through the steering wheel, pedals, floorboards, or even the rearview mirror. But you can tell it's a diesel when you hit the throttle.
