Here you go. Up for sale is my Mom's 1998 Chevy Silverado. It is a solid 1 family owned North Texas (NO RUST!) truck purchased new from Classic Chevrolet Grapevine Texas. My mom mostly drove this truck to pickup supplies for her convenience store in Nocona Texas. As back then there were not many distributors that would deliver there, she drove to Denton Texas once or twice a month to Sam's Club to purchase items for resale. 98,900 mostly highway miles, always maintained, garage kept. To my knowledge this truck has never pulled a trailer although it is set up to do so. The store closed when she could no longer run it. I bought the truck from her when she could no longer drive. She moved to assisted living due to health concerns. The truck only had 1200 miles put on it in the last 2 years. I held on to it until I knew for sure she would never drive again. I have restored the truck to like new condition during the last year. I have spared no expense tuning and replacing everything that wears out with age. It runs like new to. I would not hesitate drive this truck across the USA tomorrow! It has about 3000 miles on the tires an the spare has never been on the ground. Check my Ebay history. I will not sell anything without disclosing all I know about it and I have sold a couple of cars and a couple of motorcycles here. This one is personal. If you want it, hit the BUY IT NOW key. That IS the price and the reserve is only slightly less. It IS for sale locally. I reserve the right to end this auction if it sells locally. If you have questions please ask. This truck has never been abused nor has it ever been wrecked. It is a 98 model, the last of the 350 V8's. It has minor blemishes (rock chips) on the hood and a couple of scratches in the bed and body. The paint is 95%. There is a minor ding in the rear bumper where she backed into something. The interior is excellent for a 98. No tears, no holes and no stains. Mom never smoked so no burns either. It has a new windshield, there was a rock ping in it so it got a new one. One of the little knobs for the radio is gone that tunes the fade I think. The carpet has a couple of stains the could be steamed out but shows minor wear because it always had floor mats. I scrapped the front mats for a new pair due to the age of the mats. It could use a good detail. I cleaned it as good as I'm going to. If you hit the buy it now key I will make sure it is full of gas ready to drive, I will pick you up at D/FW or Love Field if you want to fly in and have the truck there for you to drive home. It has fresh oil (700 miles), transmission fluid and rear end grease done in the last 12 months. I have a clear title. I have both key fobs but neither work, dead batteries maybe? There are also two keys. I require a $500 deposit thru PayPal to purchase this truck. This truck is worth every penny I am asking for it, please don't bid if you don't want to buy. I will report any lame bidders to EBay. I require a $500 down thru PayPal and the rest in cash/cashiers check (verified) at delivery. It might be possible to do a bank draft but I will confirm your bank and your info and the deposit will be cleared BEFORE delivery. I am an HONEST EBayer and expect to deal with the same. I have always gone overboard to make my customer happy they made the purchase. Look at the photos, if you need more I can email them if you let me know. I need to let this one go as I have too many vehicles. It's a good truck that needs a good home. If you're looking for a good, reliable, clean truck, do us both a favor and hit buy it now. This one WONT last long. Good Luck!

Recharge Wrap-up: EV torque secrets, UC Davis maps future of biofuels
Fri, Jul 25 2014A UC Davis white paper maps out "Three Routes Forward for Biofuels," balancing investment risk with carbon benefits. The first option is "incremental," in which we tinker with the existing biofuel manufacturing infrastructure for small improvements over time. The "transitional" plan suggests integrating cellulosic production and other innovations with existing operations. The third route, called "leapfrogging," would mean building refineries based on new technology such as cellulosic and algae-based biofuels. The paper suggests ways the US could use these three routes together in different areas, and predicts the payoffs in terms of carbon emissions could be significant if the right people are willing to risk the capital. After all, financial advisers are always telling investors to diversify their portfolios to manage risk and rewards in the same way. Read more over at the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies. The Formula E Long Beach ePrix will offer free admission. The seventh round of the inaugural all-electric race season, which was moved from Los Angeles to the streets of Long Beach, will offer fans free grandstand and general admission. The race, which takes place on April 5, 2015, will use a 1.6-mile portion of IndyCar's Grand Prix of Long Beach. Read more at LA Times. Polaris is now offering its 2015 GEM electric vehicles, including the new street-legal eM1400 LSV. The passenger and utility vehicles come in two- to six-passenger configurations, many of which are street legal on roads with posted speed limits of up to 35 miles per hour. The eM1400 LSV utility vehicle seats two, offers 1,250 pounds of payload, 1,250 pounds of towing capacity, a top speed of 25 mph and a range of up to 45 miles. Its on-board charger plugs into any standard 110-volt outlet. Read more at Hybrid Cars and check out all the different configurations yourself at the Polaris website. In EVs, more torque does not always equal faster. Green Car Reports found this out when driving the Fiat 500e (with 147 pound-feet) against the similarly weighted Chevrolet Spark EV (with 400 pound-feet). The secret is, at least in part, in the gearing. The Fiat has a 9.6:1 reduction gear, making it quicker at lower speeds despite having far less available torque, while the Chevy uses a 3:1 ratio. The trade-off though, is in top speed. Furthermore, Chevy electronically limits the torque delivery at low speeds, as 400 pound-feet is a lot of launch for the little Spark EV to handle.
GM learning from current Chevy Volt owners as it works on next-gen model
Tue, Sep 16 2014Details of the second-generation Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid are coming in at a trickle, and the latest is that the 2016 model-year Volt will be improved in all meaningful areas, including performance and all-electric range, says General Motors powertrain director Larry Nitz. 60 percent of Volt customers only charge using a standard 110 outlet. Nitz was speaking to Autoline After Hours about the current and future Volt. He said that GM has been tracking Volt driving habits and found that about two-thirds of the Volts' collective miles are driven in electric mode, and that 81 percent of all Volt trips were done in pure EV mode. Additionally, Volt drivers plug the car in 10 times each week, on average. Nitz also said 82 percent of the Volt's commuting miles are coming from the plug instead of the gas tank. Oh, and 60 percent of Volt customers only charge using a standard 110 outlet. Last month, GM released a teaser shot of the 2016 Volt (above) and said the car would make its worldwide debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show next January. Earlier this year, the Volt was reported to be getting a new chassis for the upcoming version. The Volt could use a bit of new life. Through August, Volt sales were down 12 percent from a year earlier to 13,146 units, and sales plunged 25 percent alone. That compares unfavorably to the Nissan Leaf battery-electric vehicle, whose 2014 sales have jumped 34 percent to almost 19,000 units. You can see Nitz dish the goods in the video below (Volt comments start at around minute 15). You will also notice AutoblogGreen contributor Gary Witzenburg talk about his history with the EV1 and share his take on the Volt. This content is hosted by a third party.
