1989 Silverado Blazer 4x4 W/lift-toyos-alarmed-118k Org Miles-20k On Motor-rare! on 2040-cars
Portland, Oregon, United States
This is my 1989 chevrolet 1500 SILVERADO PACKAGE FULL SIZE BLAZER! This Blazer is my BABY! I purchased it in 1994, and it is part of our family!!! I was offered 12K once, and tjen about a tear ago I was offered 10K for it by someone off the street that just saw it and came and offered my Daughter the 10K, and said that he didnt even care if it ran!! My Daughter knew better, and told him it wasnt for sale at ANY price!!! She knew as I did, that I would have it FOREVER!! And I had it put in her name many years ago, so that there was no mistaking the fact that if something happened to me, it would be HERS!!!! :) Unfortunately, I have had a knee injury, and it hurts me to try to get in and out of it! :(.I am being scheduled for surgery soon, but the doctors say that my knee will never be the same! :( I never imagined ever selling this vehicle, and now I am afraid that I dont have much choice! :( My kids are sad, and so am I!!! My kids being 30 years have came to know it as family, but I am STUCK! I have to have something that I can drive that doesn't hurt me! :{ I have owned this truck for 20 years!! It has been a great truck! It is ALL original, including the paint!! It was always garaged until about 7 years ago! It even has the original red stickers that go down each side! :) As to NON-ORIGINAL: I had a 6 inch lift put on it along with 35 inch all terrain mud tires, chrome wheels and nerf bars all at one time at Les Schwab! That cost $4,000.00, but I have LOVED it! I also had a new Sony stereo system out in it that is the latest Ipod, Aux, etc.. I love being able to hook up my phone and listen to my favorite music! Other then these items, EVERYTHING is original! That includes the spare tire! It is a smaller tire, so if you were to need a spare I don't know if it would work?? I am a 53 year old woman, so I don't know a lot, but I wouldn't use it, it just makes sense that you should use the same size tires! The interior is free of any holes, rips, etc... It could use a good detail cleaning to bring it back up to new condition though. Its not BAD or anything, just a little dirty in places, especially in the back where you carry things! I use seat covers to protect the front seats, but I took them off for the pictures so that you can clearly see how great of condition that they are in! :) I just had a new battery put in it about 8 months ago. Then I just recently had the serpentine belt replaced, new sparks plugs put in it, and a complete oil change and other fluids as well as I have ALWAYS done! I know that I am going to cry when this truck is gone! :( All that I can do is hope that I will be able to get a truck that I will feel safe in that isn't lifted to where it hurts me, and will be as dependable as this truck has always been! :( The motor WAS replaced about 20,000 miles ago! My Son was 18 years old at the time, and sneaked out with my keys late one night and took it on a joy ride, in which he took it out on the freeway doing over 100 miles an hour in SECOND gear and toasted the motor! You just got to love teenagers! :( But my Ex is a mechanic and $4,000.00 later the motor was replaced, or it would still have been fine otherwise. It ALWAYS FLEW through DEQ!! Just like a new car he would tell me! :) It does need some little things! The silverplated rectangles on the doors that cover the screws have one missing on each door. The rear view mirror came off and needs to be put back on. I have the mirror and even a glue kit but just haven't gotten around to having someone put it back on. The glue probably just let go after so many years, but the mirror is PERFECT and just needs to be put back on! As to the body, my Daughter accidently backed into it once, and the passenger side rear bumper is pushed in a little. :( There has never been any SERIOUS accidents with my truck, but one time my Son in law had his car in the shop and I allowed him to take my truck to work, and he didn't see another car when he went to switch lanes, and got into an accident. The car was hurt, but the only thing that shows on my truck is a small little dent in the nerf bar and a small ripple in the passenger side door! You have to look close to see them, but I am just letting you know that they are there!! I am honest to a fault! The hood needs to be painted as well!! This paint job has lasted a LONG time, so I am not surprised with that! Black attracks HEAT anyway! This truck is equipped with 4 wheel drive, but it has NEVER been off the road, and I have really only used the 4x4 a few times when I HAD to drive in bad weather. I avoid driving in bad weather unless absolutely necessary! This vehicle is ALL POWER! The windows, including the back window are power, power disc brakes, and came LOADED from the factory! The AC does need to be recharged, and the button for the drivers side window recently broke on me! :( Its not a big deal, and one of my Sons said that he could take the door panel off and fix it if needed! He pushes on it a certain way, and the window rolls right down! The top IS removable, but I have never had it off!! I was told that once removed they could start leaking, but I didn't want to fade out the upholstery either! I like it looking new! :) Oh! I almost forgot! I DID have an aftermarket alarm put in it with auto-start was well! That was another $1,500.00, but that included buying an extra alarm pad for in case I were to lose one! It was done by Stereo King, and they uphold their products 1000%! There have been a few times that I have taken it back to them and they will take care of it at NO CHARGE no matter what! This last time the valet button was just getting old, so they replaced it with a NEW one with no charge! I will tell you that this alarm system is the best investment that I have EVER made! If not for the alarm system I would not have this TRUCK!!! The flashing blue light really lights UP at night, and I know that most people will ignore the ones that are alarmed, but with this vehicle there has been MANY attempts to steal it! It could be that it is an eye catcher, but I think that it is because it is SOOOO RARE!! I have had sooo many people asking questions! Even people with K5s! There are still plenty of K5s out there, but these Silverado packages are just about extinct! Matter of fact, insurance companies don't even have that classification in their computers anymore!~ They insure it as a V10!! That's the way that it reads on my insurance card! I just want you to be aware of the fact that this vehicle NEEDS to be alarmed of garaged to protect it! Or you WILL lose it! Due to this reason, I wont allow people to know exactly where I am! If someone wants to see it I will be happy to meet you somewhere in the area! But I wont allow someone to come to the house, just to protect it! This vehicle is built like a TANK, and is the LAST year of the BIG rigs! It will last someone a VERY long time!! I am still depressed that I am having to let it go! I NEVER thought that this day would come! :( Getting old and injuring myself wasn't ever expected! :( I hope that it will be babied as I have always done by it, and loved even HALF as much as I love it! Gee, when you add up the lift and tires/wheels, the new motor, and the alarm system, I am actually giving away the rest of the truck! But I will consider offers as well. If I think of anything elase that I might have forgotten, I will be sure to come back in and add it! I looked and saw that one a lot like it, minus the alarm system, and minus the lift and toyos that was in Portland sold for $91,000.00, so I guess I am about in the right category! I doubt that there will be many that will have this few of miles on it! Thanks for looking, and you take care and have a great day! :) |

2022 Chevy Silverado HD gains Multi-Flex tailgate as an option
Mon, May 17 2021GM is spreading the Multi-Pro Tailgate love around its truck lineup, and the Silverado HD is the latest pickup to gain the option. Just like the 2021 Silverado 1500, Chevy uses the “Multi-Flex” name for it in the HD, eschewing GMCÂ’s “Multi-Pro” branding for the bowtie vehicles. YouÂ’ll be able to option the tailgate on 2022 model year Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD models. ItÂ’ll be available optionally in every trim, so thereÂ’s no need to grab a more expensive trim to gain access to the trick tailgate — youÂ’re also not required to take it in higher trims. Functionality is the same as the standard Silverado and Sierra. The primary gate opens and closes like any other tailgate out there. ThereÂ’s a primary gate load stopper that allows you to put the gate down and still keep things from flying out the back (it can also be arranged such that the load stopper is at a higher height by using the inner gateÂ’s stopper). The inner gate folds down perpendicular to the ground to allow closer access to the bed. A full-width step is available if you fold both “gates” down and pop out the inner panel. And lastly, the inner gate can be lowered to use it as a small work space. You can watch the short video above to get a quick run through of all the positions, or scroll through the gallery at the top of this post. Besides the tailgate, Chevy says the 2022 Silverado HD is gaining a new Greenstone Metallic exterior paint color. Other changes for 2022 were not detailed at this time, but Chevy says the trucks with this tailgate should be available sometime this summer. Related video:
Want a V8 on the cheap? Buy a work truck
Thu, Aug 3 2017In case you didn't notice, V8 cars have gotten pretty expensive. If you want a modern muscle car like the Dodge Challenger R/T, Ford Mustang GT, or Chevy Camaro SS, you'll need between $34,000 and $38,000 for a stripped out example of one. The cheapest of those is the Challenger, and the priciest is the Camaro. These are also the cheapest V8 cars the companies offer. But if you absolutely have to have a V8 for less, there is an option, work trucks. As it turns out, all of the Big Three offer their most basic work trucks with V8s. And because they're so basic, they're pretty affordable, especially when sticking with the standard two-wheel drive. A Ram 1500 Tradesman with a V8 can be had for as little as $29,840, which is a little more than $4,000 less than a Challenger R/T. For a bit more at $30,275, you can have a Chevy Silverado W/T, almost $8,000 less than a Camaro SS. The most expensive is the V8 Ford F-150 starts at a starting price of $30,670, which is a bit over $5,000 less than the Mustang. Of course you'll be in an ultra bare bones vehicle with few comforts, and the price will go up if you add stuff, but we're bargain hunting here, and sacrifices are sometimes necessary. Besides, what you lose in comfort, you gain in loads of cargo space and towing (try to look at the bright side). Also, as a side note, all three trucks are available with optional electronic locking rear differentials. At the discounted price of these trucks, you still get a heaping helping of power. The most potent of the trio is the Ram 1500 Tradesman with 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque generated by a 5.7-liter V8. Compared with the Challenger R/T, the Ram is up by 20 horsepower and they're tied for torque. The value proposition is even more stark between the two vehicles when looking at the price per horsepower. Each pony in the Ram costs $75.54, while the Challenger charges you $90.91. The Challenger is also more expensive per horsepower than its close competitors. The F-150's 5.0-liter V8 is just barely behind the Ram with 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. That's still more power than the Challenger, and it matches the torque of the 2017 Mustang GT. On the down side, it still would be down 20 horsepower on that same 2017 Mustang, and it's behind by 60 horsepower and 20 pound-feet on the new 2018 Mustang GT. The F-150 also just edges out the Mustang in the dollar per horsepower measure.
CES 2022 was huge for EVs | Autoblog Podcast #711
Fri, Jan 7 2022In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder. CES took place this week, and there were some nice electric surprises from automakers, especially General Motors. John has been driving the Ram 1500 Power Wagon, as well as what seems to be its polar opposite, the electric Mini Cooper SE. Greg talks about the differences between the Acura TLX A-Spec long-termer (which is back in the shop) and the Type S loaner that's filling in for it. John's also got some interesting thoughts on leather interiors. Finally, the editors reach into the mailbag and help a repeat customer decide on a suitable replacement for a 2008 Lexus GX 470 in this week's Spend My Money segment.
