Up for bid is a beautiful classic Chevy truck.  Its a 1979 K10 Scottsdale with 21,251 miles on it!  This truck was a barn find from a nearby town.  The young man had it handed down to him from his grandparents where it sat in a barn for several years and he was moving to California so he had to sell it.  The part that really sucks is that he took the original carburetor off and replaced it with an edelbrock.  Along with a open air breather.  It has a brand new msd cap and rotor, along with new napa plug wires and A/C Delco spark plugs.  Other than those few things this truck is as far as i know all original.  I have the original wheels and tires that are not pictured but i can post them at a later time.  I have these nicer aluminum wheels on it now that came from an 85 chevy 4x4 from the factory.  This truck runs good.  It has electric choke.  The transmission shifts flawlessly.  Everything works.  It has ice cold air conditioning that has recently been converted to R134.  Their was nothing wrong with it, it worked perfect with the R12 we just updated it to R134.  Heat and defrost work perfect as well.  The truck has a newer pioneer cd player with usb and audio in ports.  This trucks runs down the road very nice.  Everything is nice and tight no play in the wheel.  Its like driving a brand new 79 Chevy.  The brakes work very well, can stop on a dime.  The interior is in very good shape.  The dash and gauges are flawless.  no rips or scratches in seat.  The exterior of the truck is in good shape for the age.  Very shiny yet but starting to thin out in areas.  Their is also some surface rust.  All the panels are rock solid.  A paint job wouldn't hurt. The bed is in awesome shape until you get to the tailgate area where their are two rust holes that would need patched and painted (see pics).  The hood is beautiful, very glossy and shiny blue but has some rust showing through in the very front.  (See pics).  The whole truck is beautiful!  I cant go anywhere without being stopped or getting compliments everywhere i go.  Heads turn every where this thing goes.  Newer 31 inch tires that are about 75% tread left or better.  This truck sounds good but not loud.  Just a single exhaust pipe with a flowmaster muffler.  The four wheel drive shifter works perfect in all settings.  You must see this truck to appreciate.  You can e mail me for more pics and questions.  The only reason im selling is because i have to many toys!  I dont have to sell but if the price is right i will.  I can guarantee you wont find another one like it.  So good luck bidding!  The truck is local pick up only, no shipping.  Sold as is with no warranty.  Thanks for looking.  Jason.

Corvette + fireworks = so much glory

Fri, Jul 3 2015

You might think that those of us making our living by reviewing cars, think critically about the cars we're driving most of the time. It could be that I'm an underachiever, but that's not the case with me. In fact, unless I'm set to the review task, I typically think about the cars in front of and around me more frequently. That's because a) you never know what you're going to see out there, and b) all of them could be out to bump/scratch/tailgate/crash me out. You can never be too careful. Such was the case when I was driving a 2015 Chevy Corvette earlier this week. I'd already had my fun finding the edges of grip on a river road in the car, the night before; on the morning in question I was just trying to get to work. But while scanning the suburban streets for potential dangers to the 'Vette's neat-o Daytona Sunrise orange paint, I spied a XXL-sized fireworks tent in an empty parking lot. Oh right, I remembered, 4th of July weekend. That obvious bit of observation lead to a chain of thought along these lines: "We should do something with this car for the 4th" ... "Too bad I have to give it back tomorrow." ... "Wonder if I could do a quick video?" ... "Wonder if I can set off a bunch of fireworks in slow-mo for a video?" The result, well, I won't call it genius, but I will say that I remember why every kid loves fireworks. And I will call it glorious. Happy 4th, y'all.

Engine block heater issues force GM to recall 324,226 diesel heavy duty trucks

Tue, May 7 2019

General Motors has issued a recall on 324,226 diesel heavy duty trucks that could be susceptible to short circuits, and consequently, potential fire. The recall affects several models of heavy duty Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras with optional engine block heaters. GM is recalling seven different truck models spread across three years. The recall affects the 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, 2017-2019 Silverado 3500HD, 2019 Silverado 4500HD, 2019 Silverado 5500HD, and 2019 Silverado 6500HD, plus the 2017-2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 2017-2019 Sierra 3500HD. Specifically, it includes these models with the 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engines and the optional engine block heater. The recall technically deals not with the engine block heater itself, but the way it is connected. According to NHTSA campaign No. 19V328000, the engine block heater cord or the terminals that link the cord to the heater could short circuit. A short circuit could potentially damage engine components and result in a fire. According to The Detroit News, 19 fires have been reported but nobody has been injured. GM has yet to figure out a fix, and thus has not yet released a notification schedule for affected customers. If you believe your vehicle is part of the recall, contact GM customer service at 1-586-596-1733 and use reference number N182206310.

Some 2012-13 Chevy Volts may not have enough battery coolant

Mon, Jun 23 2014

The 2012 and 2013 model year Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle may have a battery glitch caused by low coolant levels. No recall has been issued and General Motors is taking care of the issue at no cost to drivers. Some of the affected Volts may have lower-than-advisable coolant levels because of some pesky air pockets in the car's cooling circuit. When the coolant levels get too low, the charging system for the battery powering the car's onboard generator (i.e. the Rechargeable Energy Storage System, or the RESS) may be shut down, turning one's Volt into a run-of-the-mill gas-powered car, and a pricey one at that. The Car Connection says GM is advising owners of the '12 and '13 Volts to contact their local Chevy dealer for a free fix. GM representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGreen for more details. We believe this is a separate issue than the one that brought 8,000 Volts back to the dealers for a battery coolant fix, what GM called a "voluntary customer satisfaction effort," a few years ago. General Motors sold 23,094 Chevy Volts last year after selling 23,461 Volts in 2012, so that fix-it list may get fairly lengthy. Check out a GM-Volt.com user thread related to this issue here. *UPDATE: Chevrolet spokesman Randy Fox confirmed in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen that the company issued a service bulletin to dealers that they may need to top off coolant levels on certain Volts because of the issue, and that the vehicle will "return to normal charging operation" once that's done.
