This is my 1985 gmc high sierra 1500 truck. i am a mechanic and have done lots of work to this truck myself. and ill try to list everything here. It has a H.O. 305 engine which has 9.5/1 compression and flattop pistons which it came with from the factory. i pulled the motor around 100,000 miles which is what is had when i got the truck, to change out the gaskets and ended up with new freeze plugs and flushed the cooling passages out, installed a mild comp cam which is tuned for high gear ratios which this truck has, 2.73 gears to be exact. was ordered with these and will run 80mph in 2nd gear at 4000 rpms, top end of third is nonexistant lol. gets 18 mpg if driven easy. also installed a double roller timing gear set and new comp lifters and edelbrock performer intake and flowtech longtube headers, all this was done a year ago and now the truck has 150,700 miles. truck shows 50,700 but we all know its rolled over. has completely new cooling system and all new accessories on the motor plus new gearbox and windshield wiper motor and sprayer motor. tranny has seals replaced to stop leaks and i changed out the filter and fluid while i was at it. tranny shifts perfect everytime. new brakes all around. calipers pads, shoes, etc. new seals and bearings in rearend. frontend has been maintained, shocks all around. mcgaughy 2.5/4 inch drop kit, spindles, hangers and shackles. rides exceptionally well even in the corners, hugs the road like a muscle truck lol. everything was installed correctly. dual exhaust and smithy 22 inch old skool glasspacks for that musclecar sound. inside has a sony cd player, new 3.5 speakers in the dash and new 4x10s in the rear with two kicker comp 10 inch subs in kicker ported boxes and a 500watt apline class D amp all from sonicelectronics.com done it all myself(i dont trust other people to work on my stuff cause i want it done right!) lmc lights blinkers brake lights rear bumper billet grille chrome headlight bezels chrome license plate holder and new regulator and weather stripping in driver door. antennae is factory built into windshield so no ugly antennae sticking out the fender. all lights work inside and out, new lmc airdam under front bumper, correct mounting hardware on rear bumper for the smoothie. lowering kit has only grade 8 bolts in it. truck was original when i got it. its a really good jam up truck and very reliable have never broken down once in 5 years that ive owned it. only issue the entire truck has is one lifter has lost its prime and started ticking. oh ya i rebuilt the factory qaudrajet that was on it. it works perfect even has a new fast idle cylenoid for the a/c which does blow cold and the heater will burn you outta there. new door pin bushing kit and strikers to get the sag out of the doors. im one of those people that if somethings wrong im gonna fix it even if it aint broke yet lol anyways whoever gets it will have a great truck, clearcoat is starting to peel the roof but thats normal. its the original paint color on the truck but i suspect its been resprayed once before but according to the sticker in the glovebox it is the original color, trim is original and so is the interior minus the stereo and tach. the seat doesnt even have a tear in it and is super comfy. if you have any questions feel free to ask. The only way i will accept payment is through paypal or cash money in person or we can go to the bank and take care of everything there. cashiers check works also. pickup is local only. if someone in the state of louisiana buys it i may deliver it depending on where you are located. thanks

Junkyard Gem: 1980 Chevrolet LUV Mikado
Sat, Oct 9 2021During the 1970s and into the 1980s, each member of the Detroit Big Three imported Japanese small pickups and sold them with Ford (Mazda Proceed), Dodge/Plymouth (Mitsubishi Forte), or Chevrolet (Isuzu Faster) badges here. Ford developed the Ranger and killed the Courier for 1983 (though Americans could still buy the Mazda-badged version all the way through 1993), while The General axed the LUV after the S-10 debuted in the 1982 model year. Isuzu sold the same truck as the P'up through 1987, though, and we might as well follow up our recent P'up Junkyard Gem with its LUV predecessor. LUV stood for Light Utility Vehicle, and I've managed to spot a handful in the boneyards over the years. This one now resides in a yard in northeastern Colorado. The Mikado trim package included striped seat upholstery and a sporty steering wheel, plus these cool dash badges. As far as I can tell, no LUV Mikado advertising featured any Gilbert and Sullivan tunes. This one is fairly rusty for Front Range Colorado, and it has endured a bed swap from some other small truck. The engine is the 75-horse Isuzu 1.8-liter. Members of this engine family went into everything from Chevy Chevettes to Isuzu Troopers in the United States. Very unusually for a small pickup during the Malaise Era, this one has a luxurious automatic transmission. Acceleration must have been a leisurely affair in this truck. Air conditioning? Unheard of! Someone stuck every one of their lunchtime apple stickers on the driver's door. After 41 years of work, this truck is done. Come on strong in a LUV of your own!
2016 Chevy Camaro takes a walk on the wild side at SEMA
Tue, Nov 3 2015From highly modified restomods to tuned pickups, Chevrolet has over 20 custom vehicles at this year's SEMA Show. Given the popularity of the Camaro in the aftermarket, it's no surprise that the new, sixth-generation model gets in on that act with four modified examples. Thanks to a combination of concept parts and components on the way in early 2016, Chevy gives future owners an idea of what's possible for their new coupe. Among the group are two takes on the SS trim at opposite ends of the color spectrum. The Chevrolet Performance version is Summit White with red accents, and it uses a lowered suspension to hunker the body over conceptual 20-inch wheels. Alternatively, the Camaro Black wears darkened trim, tinted glass, and matching 20-inch wheels. Chevy beefs up their performance to fit the added style by equipping both customs with exhaust, air intake, and brake upgrades. By far the weirdest among Chevy's group of modded Camaros is the Krypton concept in a custom shade of eye-popping green. This wild paint is electroluminescent, and when the system is activated, illuminated bowties appear across the body. Headlights with matching trim and painted exhaust tips finish off this alien aesthetic. Finally, the Camaro Hyper concept is for those looking for just a little added style for their coupe. Based on the LT trim with the 3.6-liter V6, it features Hyper Blue Metallic paint with white stripes and rides on 20-inch wheels. For a little added performance, coupe uses Chevy's aftermarket exhaust and a lowered suspension. GM says safety is a reason it's dropping Apple CarPlay, Android Auto
Tue, Dec 12 2023Update: GM sent us a statement as a follow-up to its original comments seen in this post: "We wanted to reach out to clarify that comments about GM's position on phone projection were misrepresented in previous articles and to reinforce our valued partnerships with Apple and Google and each company’s commitment to driver safety. GM's embedded infotainment strategy is driven by the benefits of having a system that allows for greater integration with the larger GM ecosystem and vehicles." The original story can be read in its entirety below.  General Motors announced its intention to remove Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality from its upcoming EVs earlier this year, and internet comments sections haven't been kind since. As the first of many EVs to follow – the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV – hits the market, GM is expanding on its initial explanations for dropping the tech. Motor Trend spoke with Tim Babbit, GMÂ’s head of product for infotainment, to learn more. Attributed to Babbit, from the story: “They have stability issues that manifest themselves as bad connections, poor rendering, slow responses, and dropped connections. And when CarPlay and Android Auto have issues, drivers pick up their phones again, taking their eyes off the road and totally defeating the purpose of these phone-mirroring programs. Solving those issues can sometimes be beyond the control of the automaker.” Babbit suggests that a world without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto will be a safer one, as folks wonÂ’t be looking to control their infotainment systems via their phones. However, Babbit also tells MT that this theory hasnÂ’t been tested in either the lab or the real world yet. Instead of using a navigation or music-playing app powered through your phone, upcoming GM EVs will use a Google-based infotainment system called “Ultifi” that runs a ton of integrated Google apps. Google Maps will be the native navigation app in the system; youÂ’ll be able to log in to Spotify or other apps to load your music up, and so on. The idea here is that youÂ’ll have all the same apps that were on your phone available but integrated within the infotainment system instead, and you'll be able to use voice controls to control every last bit of it with no need to reach for a phone. That sounds amenable in theory, but how consumers react to the removal of a feature that they know and love now is a risky gamble.
