1969 Chevy short bed truck for sale. It was restored 18 months ago using house of kolor paint. Its a combination of galaxy grey metallic base, six kandy apple red mid coats, HOK clear coats and topped off with HOK flow clear. The exterior is show quality and you can definitely tell by the shine and depth of the paint. You don't see many true kandy paint jobs and so when I do take it out you get a lot of attention and compliments. The pictures don't show the real effect of the HOK paint but you can tell that it "flops and pops" in the sun...its kinda like going from a burgundy to a bright red color in the sun. It was hard to even find someone that would be willing to paint a Tri HOK job (didn't help it was a dark color and body had to be perfect). You have to trim everything in (like firewall, door jambs) and then fully assemble the vehicle before painting it all at the same time in order to not get stripes or shading. Everything but the rolling chassis was taken apart during the restoration. The body lines are better than factory...I actually went through 5 doors before finding the correct fit. The motor was also replaced and has less than 1000 miles. It is a brand new custom built 454 full roller and balanced motor that was rated around 650 hp by the builder. It has a solid roller cam and has a very lopey sound. It has several new external motor parts like Holly 750 carburetor, MSD ignition, 4 core aluminum radiator, new wiring harness, ceramic coated headers, chrome alternator and chrome power steering pump. I just installed new 40 series flow master exhaust and it sounds awesome. With the exhaust out the back you don't get the drone sound in the cab but you can sure hear the motor when you are turning 7000 rpm. I live on a gravel road and since I had it restored (about 18 months ago) its only been out a few times. I spent so much time and money restoring it and don't want to ruin it by flying gravel so it just sits in the garage. This is 1 of 3 trucks (66 and 71) I have and I need to make room for one of my kids project cars...this truck is way too nice and powerful for a new driver. Only serious bidders please...this is a very nice custom truck that has a lot of power and needs someone that can appreciate and take care of a show car quality vehicle.

The list of new parts is very long but here are a few of the big items...with each item includes new hardware when available
- 2 new doors
- front windshield with custom chrome trim

Chevrolet considering midsize crossover to slot between Traverse and Equinox

Mon, Jan 9 2017

Crossovers are the new hotness, and automakers are looking to cash in by offering a size and shape for every customer. With Chevrolet's debut of the new 2018 Traverse in Detroit, which grew ever so slightly compared to the first-generation model, there is now a midsize-crossover-sized hole between the three-row Traverse and the compact Equinox. When asked about that obvious space, a Chevrolet spokesperson told us the company is looking into the possibility of expanding its crossover lineup. It should be a relatively simple thing to do, since all it would take is reskinning and rechristening the GMC Acadia with a bow tie, and we all know how much GM loves platform sharing. Although they're now different sizes, the new Acadia and Traverse still use the same platform; the Acadia is now on a short-wheelbase version of the C1XX while the Traverse uses long-wheelbase C1XX parts. A short-wheelbase Chevy built on the C1XX likely would be differentiated visually from both the Acadia and the larger Traverse. It may seem like flooding the lineup with more and more models would cannibalize sales of existing ones, but Chevrolet said it would rather have customers stay within the brand rather than going to another automaker. There have been whispers that some form of the Blazer name (possibly TrailBlazer) may make a return on a midsizer, but if it does don't expect an old-school body-on-frame SUV like the old one. In the end, if Chevy builds it, customers will come. Related Video:

GM expected to debut two new crossovers at Detroit Auto Show

Thu, Dec 15 2016

Next month, General Motors is expected to debut two new crossovers at the North American International Auto Show. That's according to Automotive News and The Wall Street Journal, which reports that the successors to the aging Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain will finally make their debut. The two crossovers have been on sale since 2009 and 2010 respectively and are due for updates as the competition has newer models on the market. Both crossovers play in growing market segments where sales success is crucial for the respective brands. GM, and the automotive industry as a whole, has been shifting its focus towards crossovers in the last few years. The Traverse and the Terrain are some of the oldest SUVs on the market and are in dire need of an update. GMC's Acadia, the former corporate clone to the Traverse (and Buick Acadia), switched to a new platform in 2016. And the Terrain's platform-mate, the Chevrolet Equinox, was revealed a few months ago. Both the new Chevy and GMC models are expected to go on sale late in 2017 as 2018 models. Look for a follow up to the Traverse's sister, the Buick Enclave, to make an appearance soon. How GM engineers are using diaper 'snow' to keep you warm

Thu, Jan 8 2015

Testing how snow affects General Motors' vehicles isn't really a problem right now for the company's engineers, but in the dog days of summer the process isn't exactly easy. The only real option is for them to book time at the automaker's climatic wind tunnel. However, a flash of brilliance from an engineer allows snow to be simulated regardless of the temperature outside, and the discovery is all because of his daughter's wet diaper. The realization came to GM Thermal Systems engineer Nicholas Jahn while he was swimming with his daughter and noticed how her diaper ballooned in size in the water. He found out the substance that makes this possible is called sodium polyacrylate. When the material gets wet it grows and forms fluffy flakes that are a close imitation of snow. Best of all, the stuff can be prepared easily any time of the year, and it's reusable. The engineering team uses the material to test the effectiveness of the heating systems of GM's vehicles. They spread the sodium polyacrylate over the inlets at the base of the windshield to obstruct the airflow and then crank the heater. After some time, they can see how much is being sucked into the system and design more efficient systems in the future. See how the process works in the video above and read about the diaper discovery in GM's press release below. Diapers Change Chevy Cruze Winter Warm-up Time GM validation engineer uses diaper material "snow" to reduce frigid drives 2015-01-06 DETROIT – An item commonly found on an infant's changing table is helping General Motors' engineers simulate snow year round, ensuring heating systems in cars like the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze can quickly and efficiently warm its interior. Packed snow can prevent air from entering the inlet panel at the bottom of the windshield, obstructing the flow of air into the heating system and reducing the amount of air it can push out. This can lead to less efficient warming of the car's interior and windshield defrosting. "The last thing anyone wants to do when it's freezing cold out is scrape their windshield," said Nicholas Jahn, GM Vehicle Thermal Systems engineer. "The testing we perform on the Chevrolet Cruze with the diaper material allows us to maximize the car's heating capabilities." Ironically, Jahn stumbled upon his diaper-based testing method in the middle of summer. During a swim with his daughter, he noticed her diaper multiplied in size when it came into contact with water.
