Up for auction is my 1965 custom cab Chevy pickup with sought after big back window short box !

After looking for years for a mid sixties c10 4x4 I gave up and started looking at 2 wheel drives that I could convert to a 4x4. I bought this truck a little over a year ago with those intentions and changed my mind because it was a shame to cut up such a nice truck/frame.  Well now I'm regretfully listing my truck as I really want a 4x4.

This truck is a really nice daily driver. NOT a show truck. Paint looks great in pictures but is 12 years old and starting to show it. Surface rust is coming up under the paint in spots and is starting to fade. Bottom corners of fenders were patched at paint time and are still very solid after 12 years as in close up pics. That being said 90% of trucks I looked at that before purchasing this one looked great in pictures were total rust buckets or patched up cabs from a different trucks etc. This truck is very original and solid overall but will need paint in a few years to look show ready. I took pics of 3 dings, one in rear corner of bed and one on drivers door and front of hood, all very minor. Previous owner had glued some fake chrome louvers on tailgate so removal left residue. Both side glass could be replaced if desired as they have cracks near the bottom. Doesn't interfere with vision so I never bothered. Seat has a rip on drivers side back. Stereo is a cheap aftermarket that just screeches, never bothered to replace.

Engine I was told when I bought it was a recently rebuilt (20,000 miles) 327 with turbo 350 transmission. I do not know if it is the original engine or not. It runs very strong for  a stock 2 barrel small block. Tranny feels like it has a mild shift kit and works perfectly. Original manual steering and no power brakes.

DO NOT BID IF YOU DON'T HAVE FUNDS!!

Everything works as it should, lights, heater, wipers, gauges, doors lock with the ignition key. Doors close VERY solid. As far as I can tell all sheet metal looks to be original and never hit.
Frame is great. Wood  bed looks original but cant confirm, it's in great shape!

Only thing I have done is change oil, replace the rear pinion seal and 4" lowering springs on the rear. (I have originals)

Odometer says 81,360 so I'm guessing 183,360 total.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."

GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?

Fri, Jul 21 2017

General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.

GM CEO to meet with U.S. lawmakers over job cuts

Fri, Nov 30 2018

WASHINGTON — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra plans to visit Capitol Hill next week to discuss the company's plans to halt production at five plants in North America next year and cut up to 15,000 jobs, two congressional aides said on Friday. GM has come under harsh criticism from lawmakers from both major political parties, and from President Donald Trump, since Monday when it announced the biggest restructuring for the U.S. No. 1 carmaker since its bankruptcy a decade ago. Barra is expected to meet with lawmakers from Michigan and Ohio, where GM plans to shutter three plants, as well as senior leaders in Congress. GM did not immediately comment. Barra has been calling lawmakers this week to explain the decision to end production. Trump has threatened to revoke subsidies for GM. The Detroit automaker plans to halt production next year at three assembly plants: the Lordstown small-car factory near Youngstown, Ohio; the Detroit-Hamtramck complex in Detroit; and the Oshawa, Ontario, assembly complex near Toronto. It will also stop building several models now assembled at those plants, including the Chevrolet Cruze, the Chevrolet Volt hybrid, the Cadillac CT6 and the Buick LaCrosse. Additionally, GM plans to shutter the Warren transmission plant outside Detroit and a plant that makes electric motors and drivetrains outside Baltimore, Maryland. The Cruze compact car will be discontinued in the U.S. market in 2019, although GM may continue building it in Mexico for other markets, Barra said. Reporting by David Shepardson. Related Video:
