'70 C10 Chevy Step Side Truck:

ENGINE COMPARTMENT:

The engine was kept stock as I wanted it to be practical and dependable for everyday anywhere driving. There is not a peck or tick whatsoever in the engine compartment. Truck starts, idles and runs perfectly.

- Fresh 350 4 bolt main engine w/ 350 turbo automatic tranny…truck runs 80-85mph on the interstate with no problem whatsoever

- Weiand intake

-Coated headers w/ Flowmasters (40 series)

-New plugs/wires/oil change...everything in drive train has been recently serviced and is ready to go

-Trans cooler installed

-3 core radiator upgrade…this truck can idle in the desert for days and not run hot

-16-18mpg on average

EXTERIOR:

The sheet metal of this truck is in excellent shape(perfectly straight)….it only has normal wear that adds to the overall character of a patina vehicle. There is a small ding in the crease of the front right fender(see pics/video)…easy to fix if you want to “slick” the truck. All the suspension/steering components of this truck were rebuilt/replaced.

-Suspension is a 4/6 complete drop kit from Early Classic Enterprise that includes drop spindles, springs, KYB GR2 shocks w/ relocators, super track bar….this kit provides for a killer stance with awesome ride without any shake or vibration at any speed

-5 lug with New 20” Boss 8.5 front & back wheels w/ Michelin tires....this truck was built to drive so I went with the same size wheels and tires so they could be rotated properly.

-Power Steering & Power Disc Brakes up front with New front calipers/rotors/pads/rear drums and shoes

-Note that this truck has the ‘73-’87 front end suspension & brake upgrade

-Front end professionally lined

-New bearing carrier

-Early Classic hidden hitch with adjustable air shocks in the rear for towing/hauling

-Note that this truck has the ‘73-’87 front end suspension & brake upgrade

-Sway bar with new  Moog bushings

-Cab mounts are in excellent shape

-Cab corners/rockers/kick panels /all the notorious places for rust on these trucks are in great shape

-GM Bahama blue base coat/ clear coat…..beautiful color!

-Floor of the bed is showing its age, but again it just adds to the nostalgic appeal of the truck

-I have tons of undercarriage pics that I can text...just let me know

-The doors shut as good as a new Chevy truck

-Note that the Shop Logo is superficial to the clear coat, and with a little lacquer thinner, can be removed in about 5 mins.

INTERIOR:

It would be extremely difficult to make the interior of one of these trucks any nicer and maintain the original integrity.

-Cab has been insulated with sound mat/jute

-New floor mat

-Original style AM/FM radio with cd/iPod/mp3 upgrade & new speaker

- All glass and cab seals are in great shape

-New 3 point(shoulder) seat belts from Brothers …also installed a middle lap belt

-New Houndstooth seat cover

-New gas tank with sending unit

-All glass is in perfect shape

-Windows work great and wing glass opens perfectly

-All gauges work properly

NEEDS:

-Currently has a small trans leak where speedo cable attaches

Overall, this is a beautiful truck that is extremely nice and super clean with a lot of character and personality.  The truck is a shop/patina truck as is, but the sheet metal/body on the truck is in such great shape it is ready to block sand and paint if you want a traditional show truck. There is one small ding in the crease of the front passenger fender(see pic./video) and the front bed petition has a slight bend…these quirks add to the overall appearance of the patina style, but if you want to “slick” the truck, they will need to be addressed. If you like the shop/patina style trucks, this one is super nice.  It was not just thrown and pieced together, and if you see it, you will realize the attention to detail that was taken with this truck.  This truck was built to drive with no excuses, and I have described it to the best of my knowledge. If you have detailed questions about anything with respect to the truck, please do not hesitate to ask.  I understand that it is difficult to buy a truck by looking at pics miles away, but please understand that I have sold through ebay going on 14 years now and have never received a single negative feedback.  I am not trying to hide anything with this truck and encourage anyone interested to come look.  Most vehicles look better in pics than in person.....and trust me, I having driven countless hours with only regret and dissappointment at the end of the venture.... but I promise you will not get that experience with the vehicles/items I sell.  I guarantee the truck looks better in person than in the pics. I am not trying to hide anything on this truck and encourage anyone interested in a C10 to come look. You are more than welcome to send a 3rd party inspector to assess the truck and make sure it is describe accurately.  If need be, I will do my best with assisting with shipping of the truck, but the buyer is responsible for setup and all expenses.  If you have any questions or want other pics, please don’t hesitate to ask.  Serious inquires only!  Payment in cash, wire transfer, or cashier’s check from bank(check will need to be verified before truck is released). Clean/Clear title in my name with matching numbers on the original door tag and glove box….. Email, call 606-598-9953 evenings after 5pm, or the best way to reach me is via text at 606-813-2045 ANYTIME.  If interested, don't be afraid to make an offer.....all I can say is "NO"...Please check out my '66 C10 Step Side truck listed in another auction......I also have a sweet '71 C10 Cheyenne Super that is a cool driver as is or is perfect for a winter project restore...if interested, let me know....Thanks!

Want a V8 on the cheap? Buy a work truck

Thu, Aug 3 2017

In case you didn't notice, V8 cars have gotten pretty expensive. If you want a modern muscle car like the Dodge Challenger R/T, Ford Mustang GT, or Chevy Camaro SS, you'll need between $34,000 and $38,000 for a stripped out example of one. The cheapest of those is the Challenger, and the priciest is the Camaro. These are also the cheapest V8 cars the companies offer. But if you absolutely have to have a V8 for less, there is an option, work trucks. As it turns out, all of the Big Three offer their most basic work trucks with V8s. And because they're so basic, they're pretty affordable, especially when sticking with the standard two-wheel drive. A Ram 1500 Tradesman with a V8 can be had for as little as $29,840, which is a little more than $4,000 less than a Challenger R/T. For a bit more at $30,275, you can have a Chevy Silverado W/T, almost $8,000 less than a Camaro SS. The most expensive is the V8 Ford F-150 starts at a starting price of $30,670, which is a bit over $5,000 less than the Mustang. Of course you'll be in an ultra bare bones vehicle with few comforts, and the price will go up if you add stuff, but we're bargain hunting here, and sacrifices are sometimes necessary. Besides, what you lose in comfort, you gain in loads of cargo space and towing (try to look at the bright side). Also, as a side note, all three trucks are available with optional electronic locking rear differentials. At the discounted price of these trucks, you still get a heaping helping of power. The most potent of the trio is the Ram 1500 Tradesman with 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque generated by a 5.7-liter V8. Compared with the Challenger R/T, the Ram is up by 20 horsepower and they're tied for torque. The value proposition is even more stark between the two vehicles when looking at the price per horsepower. Each pony in the Ram costs $75.54, while the Challenger charges you $90.91. The Challenger is also more expensive per horsepower than its close competitors. The F-150's 5.0-liter V8 is just barely behind the Ram with 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. That's still more power than the Challenger, and it matches the torque of the 2017 Mustang GT. On the down side, it still would be down 20 horsepower on that same 2017 Mustang, and it's behind by 60 horsepower and 20 pound-feet on the new 2018 Mustang GT. The F-150 also just edges out the Mustang in the dollar per horsepower measure.

2020 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban and GMC Yukon all spied with production lights

Fri, Mar 22 2019

One of our spy photographers just caught a smattering of full-size GM SUVs out testing, including the Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban and GMC Yukon. Previous spy photos of the next-generation of these big GM SUVs have revealed that GM is going with an independent rear suspension design, and these shots confirm the news once again with our best look at the hardware yet. Check them out from the rear, lined up like ducks in a row to see the beefy control arms down there. This will undoubtedly give the big SUVs a more compliant ride, and should bring it back into touch with the refinement from the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. The new bits we get to see with these shots are production headlights and taillights that are shaping up to look pretty neat. Most distinguishable are the GMC Yukon's LED DRLs. These look a lot like the C-shaped LEDs outlining the headlights on the Sierra, but they have an extra LED strip on top of the C. The parts of the taillights that we can see look significantly different than that found on the Sierra, showing GM is planning on having a great deal of differentiation there. We can sort of see through the mesh covering the grille to what appears to be a classic horizontal bar style front opening. Chevy is predictably dialing the crazy LED strip design back for the Tahoe and Suburban. The parts that are lit up look a whole lot like the headlight fixtures on the 2019 Silverado. That truck uses a stack of lights with the actual headlights separated from the DRLs. We can see the same thing going on here, with the headlight up top and curved LED DRL strip sitting below. It's tough to say if the designs are exactly alike, but we expect to see an extremely Silverado-esque look once all the camouflage comes off. Chevrolet's taillight design differs from its donor truck like the GMC, showing off a curved, vertical series of LEDs out back. Once production lights start popping up like this, we know the vehicle is moving closer to its end game. A reveal sometime later this year could be in the cards for GM's next batch of full-size SUVs. It certainly needs them quick, as Ford rockets ahead with increased Expedition production announced earlier this week.
