| 1957 Chevrolet "Black Widow". This is a very rare and special car. It started out life as an Oregon State Patrol car out of Baker Oregon. It was found in a barn in Walla Walla Washington where it had been stored for 32 years with a total of 42,000 miles. It was transformed into a Black Widow by someone very familiar with NASCAR having spent 10 years with legends like Junior Johnson, Ralph Moody of Holman Moody, and Skoal Bandit racing. Tiger Tom Pisone, who drove Black Widows at NASCAR, was consulted for the build. This 57 has a seamless boxed frame with all original sheet metal including all body and floor panels. No patching was done or needed. During the body off restoration every nut and bolt was replaced. Every part was removed and meticulouly restored to correct original paint codes from top to bottom. The 57 has one piece bumpers as well as all original stainless. The 1957 283 is fitted with a numbers matching fuel injection unit with extremely rare 5" Black Widow Air intake and Fenton Cast Iron 4 head pipe stainless steel header system. The engine was built, blueprinted, and run on a Super Flo 901 Dyno. The 283 makes 353 hp. The 3 speed w/overdrive, 4:11 posi rear end, suspension, wiring, glass, interior, gauges, etc. all disassembled, rebuilt or replaced as needed. The car comes with a photo album of the restoration. This is a one of a kind car for sale at a fraction of the cost to build. The paint and body work are flawless. It has never seen water since restoration. This car runs perfectly and needs nothing. Call or e-mail if you need more information or pictures. I am a long time acquaintance of the owner/builder and am listing it for him. If you buy this car at auction and come to pick it up and not totally satisfied you don't have to buy it. I reserve the right to end the auction early. There are no warrantees written or implied. Thanks for looking! 360 459 4516. |

Europeans ask Chevy to bring Volt back to Europe
Fri, Aug 14 2015A group of French fans is asking for a jolt of support from General Motors to get the 2016 Chevrolet Volt across the pond. The Association Amperistes et Amis des Vehicules Rechargeables is running a Change.org petition that currently has 383 signatures out of a goal of 500. While the attempt is admirable, it's probably going to take a lot more than several hundred people for the model to make a return to the continent after the poor showing of the Opel Ampera – first-gen Volt's European cousin. The group's major argument for bringing a version of the second-gen Volt to Europe is that consumers need "an intermediate choice between expensive or range-limited pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a miserable electric range." Furthermore, such a vehicle would prod the competition to produce similarly efficient electrified models. They also lavish praise on the abilities of the Ampera for its long EV driving range. The supporters aren't entirely kind to GM in the petition, though, and claim the company excluded the original car from marketing efforts there. The Ampera actually enjoyed a strong European launch with more orders than initially expected and briefly topped the best-sellers list among EVs there. It was even named 2012 European Car of the Year. Those halcyon days didn't last long, and by 2014 sales fell off to a trickle. The waning reception caused GM's decision not to introduce a version of the new 2016 Volt there or in Australia. Related Video:

GM learning from current Chevy Volt owners as it works on next-gen model
Tue, Sep 16 2014Details of the second-generation Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid are coming in at a trickle, and the latest is that the 2016 model-year Volt will be improved in all meaningful areas, including performance and all-electric range, says General Motors powertrain director Larry Nitz. 60 percent of Volt customers only charge using a standard 110 outlet. Nitz was speaking to Autoline After Hours about the current and future Volt. He said that GM has been tracking Volt driving habits and found that about two-thirds of the Volts' collective miles are driven in electric mode, and that 81 percent of all Volt trips were done in pure EV mode. Additionally, Volt drivers plug the car in 10 times each week, on average. Nitz also said 82 percent of the Volt's commuting miles are coming from the plug instead of the gas tank. Oh, and 60 percent of Volt customers only charge using a standard 110 outlet. Last month, GM released a teaser shot of the 2016 Volt (above) and said the car would make its worldwide debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show next January. Earlier this year, the Volt was reported to be getting a new chassis for the upcoming version. The Volt could use a bit of new life. Through August, Volt sales were down 12 percent from a year earlier to 13,146 units, and sales plunged 25 percent alone. That compares unfavorably to the Nissan Leaf battery-electric vehicle, whose 2014 sales have jumped 34 percent to almost 19,000 units. You can see Nitz dish the goods in the video below (Volt comments start at around minute 15). You will also notice AutoblogGreen contributor Gary Witzenburg talk about his history with the EV1 and share his take on the Volt. This content is hosted by a third party.
