1954 Chevy 210 Bel Air W/ "air Ride" on 2040-cars
Flushing, Michigan, United States

Up for auction is one of my babies. This is one solid 2 door 1954 chevy. This is an all orig car. Its still has a 6v charging system. 235 V-6 with 3 on the tree. I've had this for close to 3 years. Its your classic flat black w/white top rat rod hot rod looking 2 door chevy. This car is lowered 2" in the front and 6" in the rear This car was originally brought back from Wyoming to Michigan by the orig owners grandson in 2009 so no major rust issues. I'm only letting this baby go just for the simple fact that I'm an Iraq war vet and my disability doesn't allow me to enjoy working on cars like I would like to anymore. This car is solid as you can see in the pics the only minor rust issue is along the driver side floor frame rail on the floor pan. I took the seats out so you can see how straight and rust free the floor boards are. Iv done all of the upgrades and work myself until my injury would not allow me to anymore. The front seats are bench covered in a black and grey Mexican blanket the same as the rear. I have a brand new Accuride air ride kit brand new in the box with all brackets and parts that I have available that I was going to put on it but never got around to it. IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE AUCTION but if you are interested we can work something out. Let me begin the list. Everything has been done within the last 2 years. Both wheels bearings have been repacked. new front breaks, shocks, lug nut bolts, new alt, battery, rebuilt carb, complete tune up wires, plugs ect, The tires are Coker orig that were purchased for another project I had but I threw them on here. Cant beat the look. The wheels have moon eyes and beauty ring in good shape with no pitting. I have everything that came with this car including the orig fender skirts. I was in the process of redoing the interior until I had to physically quit. I have all the orig door panels, chrome pieces, and chrome molding for the inside. The bumpers are not in the pics but I do have them they were orig 3 pieces I welded them into one smooth bumper. Front and back. The trunk is just as solid and still has the original cardboard sound deadener in the trunk lid. This car runs and drives straight. Never seen snow or rain the hole time I've owned it. Except for when I backed it out to take the pics. The only bad things I can think about is the pass window is cracked and so is the pass vent window. There's a BB shot in the front glass but nothing major. The undercarriage has been professionally undercoated so no issues there. If you have any other questions feel free to message me. Car is only available in the US. I will not sell out of the US. Its to much of a pain in the ass. Car is for sale locally. Seller has the right to end the auction if car is sold. A $500.00 non refundable down payment is due via PayPal within 24 hours of end of auction. The rest must be paid in cash in person when car is picked up no later than 3 days after the auction has ended. I will work with the shipping company to help load the car if needed. If winning bidder is in Michigan I may be able to ship for a fee. Good Luck On Mar-12-14 at 15:31:17 PDT, seller added the following information: *******ATTENTION TO BIDDERS WITH 0 FEEDBACK. General Motors and EVs: No stranger to firsts, but where's the leadership?
Tue, Apr 7 20152015 is already shaping up to be the year of "affordable, 200-mile EV" concepts. Nissan and Tesla have each been talking about them for some time, the latter promising to unveil its Model 3 at the North American International Auto Show in January before balking when the time came. Instead, Chevrolet beat them all by unveiling the Bolt concept at the same event, followed shortly thereafter with suggestions of a 2016 launch – potentially offering the first nationwide EV with anything close to that range. It was the ballsiest EV-related move General Motors has made in a quarter century. But will it remain so? Exactly 25 years before the Bolt rolled up onto the turntable, then-Chairman Roger Smith unveiled GM's last ground-up EV concept, the even-more-unfortunately-named Impact, at the Los Angeles Auto Show in January 1990. A few months later, he surprised most of his colleagues by announcing its intended production in honor of Earth Day. It was the first modern foray into electric vehicles for the US by any automaker, one that was rewarded by the State of California with what is now known as the Zero Emissions Vehicle mandate. The program not only forced other automakers into competing with Roger's pet project, but inspired all of them to fight it like small children against bedtime. Some years later, the drivers themselves weighed in, with a biting documentary about that obstinance and the leadership it cost both GM and the country. Within months, GM was first back into the fray of plug-in vehicles. Many criticized the company for starting with a PHEV rather than jump straight back into EVs. The choice wasn't totally out of the blue – even EV1 was meant to be followed by a PHEV. And especially on the heels of Who Killed the Electric Car?, some skittishness was understandable: even a successful EV would invite a "we told you so" public reaction, underscoring their mistake in ending the EV1 program. If a new EV didn't do well, they'd be convicted in the public eye as serial killers. All while seeking a federal bailout. For all the flak, the resulting Chevy Volt was and is a better car than GM has ever gotten credit for. But the company seemed to grow weary of having to overcome its varied past, and while the current owners remain happy, much of the stakeholder and community engagement that so effectively built early goodwill and sales growth faded not long after launch. Marketing has been spotty in both consistency and effectiveness.
Mustang retakes monthly pony car sales crown from Camaro
Wed, Dec 3 2014Going back to their origins in the Swinging '60s, the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro have been fierce rivals for fans' hearts and dollars. Historically, the Ford often led in volume, but Chevy took the muscle car top spot in 2009 upon the Camaro's rebirth. However, with the launch of the latest Blue Oval pony car, the tide is turning back in Ford's favor. November was the first full month of sales for the new 2015 Mustang, and according to TheDetroitBureau.com, the model did spectacularly well. The Blue Oval shifted 8,728 of them, up 62 percent from same month last year, with the automaker proclaiming it the model's best November sales since 2006. Conversely, 4,385 units of the Camaro were delivered, down 13.5 percent year-over-year, meaning its sales were roughly half that of the new-generation Mustang. Ford is understandably happy with the results, and product development director Raj Nair even hinted to TDB that another version of the Mustang might be unveiled at January's North American International Auto Show. Rumor has it that the model will be the even more potent Shelby Mustang GT350R. Despite the Mustang's November success, the Camaro outsells it year to day. So far in 2014, Ford has sold 73,124 Mustangs versus 79,669 examples of the Camaro. With December offering the last chance for an overtake, the Bowtie may yet remain king for this year's sales crown. A new Camaro is peeking over the horizon, as well. It's reportedly moving to the Alpha platform used by the Cadillac ATS, and production could start in late 2015. Prototypes are already testing at the Nurburgring, and camouflaged examples have been spotted weirdly being compared to its '80s forefather.
NHTSA probes 2010 Chevy Tahoe for side airbag issue
Wed, Jun 17 2015After a person was killed in a rollover accident in a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe in Texas in 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is considering whether to conduct a deeper investigation into a potential problem with the model's side airbags. According to the petition filed with the government agency, the SUV's rollover side curtain airbag deployed in the accident, but the design allegedly still allowed some of the occupants in the second- and third-row seats to be ejected from the vehicle. One of them died in the crash. Based on NHTSA's preliminary review, this is the only report of this type of incident happening in a 2007-2015 Tahoe or GMC Yukon. "GM investigated the complaint that is the basis of the petition and found no defect trend," company spokesperson Alan Adler said to The Detroit News, and said the automaker will cooperate with the feds. Still, "a defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and make a grant or deny decision," according to NHTSA. Depending on the agency's findings, this could lead to a full investigation and possible recall affecting an estimated 58,000 vehicles. INVESTIGATION Subject : Rollover Side Curtain Air Bags Date Investigation Opened: JUN 11, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: DP15004 Component(s): AIR BAGS All Products Associated with this Investigation Vehicle MakeModelModel Year(s) CHEVROLET TAHOE 2010 CHEVROLET TAHOE HYBRID 2010 Details Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received a petition requesting an investigation of alleged defects that can cause occupant ejections during rollover crashes in certain General Motors vehicles. The petition alleges the defects allow second and third row occupants to be ejected despite the deployment of rollover side curtain air bags. The petition cites a 2011 Texas crash involving a model year 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, which allegedly resulted in multiple occupants to be ejected. One of the ejected occupants was fatally injured. ODI's preliminary review of its consumer complaint data found no similar reports of occupant ejections on 2007-2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon vehicles. ODI also reviewed Early Warning Reporting data submitted by General Motors. A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and make a grant or deny decision.
