1954 Chevrolet 210 / Bel Air Deluxe Sedan Chevy Two-Ten 235 Beautiful!

Straight out of the sock hops, drive-ins, American Graffiti, and Back to the Future comes this lovingly restored 1954 Chevrolet Two-Ten. It has a correct-era 235 cu in inline-6 with a 3-speed manual transmission on the column. This car is a beauty, a looker, and a stunner. The gorgeous cherry red paint and bright shiny chrome make this car gleam in the sunshine. Hopefully you can see that in the photos. Overall the paint is excellent. This is a professional-grade restoration-quality paint job done to a very high standard.

The chrome is bright and shiny but does have some pitting here and there. The one exception is the wheels which are mirror-shiny and in perfect shape.

The interior is nice as well. The dash has been repainted in the restoration and looks fantastic. The seats have been recovered, although with a non-original fabric. The original fabric remains beneath. The headliner is new and in spotless condition. The carpets have been replaced with all-weather carpeting.

Mechanically this car is ready to cruise. I just installed a new set of spark plugs and wires and it fires up easily! I have taken it on several multi-hour trips recently and it is a true joy to drive. This classic is a one-car car show wherever you go. If you don't like people coming up and complementing the car and asking questions this car isn't for you. The motor does not smoke. It idles nicely and drives even better. The brakes are surprisingly good for a car of this vintage. I just had a wheel cylinder replaced. They are manual brakes so some adjustment in driving style is necessary. It shifts through the gears nicely and will cruise along at 60 all day long. The tires are nearly new. The exhaust is in good shape and even features some glass-packs. It has a nice throaty sound thats not too noisy. The ride is cushy and comfortable. Load this beauty up with some friends and take it out for ice cream.

The underside is in very good shape. The frame is solid as heck.

The negatives: 4 of the side windows have hairline cracks in them. I priced these out to between $35-$47 per window. They still keep the rain out and go up and down just fine. The paint, as nice as it is, does have some flaws there are a few scratches and dings and a few tiny bubbles. There are some small spots of missing clear that do not affect the overall shine. The original AM radio does not work. Big surprise I know. There is a modern radio/cd player that works just fine installed under the dash. The blower motor does not work, but the ram-air vents keep the air circulating. There is a small oil drip, probably coming from the oil pan gasket.  The clutch does exhibit some very minor chattering.  The title reads miles in excess of mechanical limits but is otherwise clear.

I did some further research into the exact model of the car because the title says it is a Bel Air. It appears that in 1954 the difference between the 150, 210, and Bel Air was largely the exterior horizontal trim strip and accompanying badges. Since this car has had those deleted in the restoration process it makes little difference at this point. For the Chevy purists the build code is 1069w which should correspond to the two-ten. For the non-purists the title says Bel Air and go with that.

I cannot guarantee that I know about every single problem/imperfection that this car has.  I have done my best to give you a good sense of the car, beyond that it is your responsibility to come look at the car for yourself.  Please call me to make an appointment to see the car.  Please also be aware that more imperfections can be found in person than from photos.  Expect this.  If you plan to drive the car a long distance away be advised that you do so at your own financial risk.  Plan on having to spend some money on upgrades and maintenance.  Overall please be realistic.  This is an old car and we live in an imperfect world.

GM recalls 740,000 vehicles over daytime running light issue

Wed, Dec 14 2022

General Motors is recalling over 740,000 vehicles due to a daytime running light issue that causes all of the affected cars to run afoul of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Vehicles affected by this recall are spread across many of GM’s brands. Models include the 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5, 2021-2023 Buick Envision, 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, 2022-2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe and 2022-2023 GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL. GM says that the daytime running lights may remain on in these cars when the headlights are activated. This is a problem, because FMVSS rules require that the daytime running lights deactivate once the headlights turn on. If the DRLs remain on, GM says that could result in additional glare, thereby increasing the risk of an accident. The cause of this failure to deactivate the DRLs comes from body control module software that “under a combination of certain pre-conditions, could fail to deactivate the DRLs,” according to GM. Other GM vehicles were tested, but due to a difference in software or hardware, they remain unaffected. If this is reminding you of another recent GM recall, youÂ’d be right, as GM recalled another 340,000 vehicles for the same issue last month. After that original issue was found within GM, the company began looking into its other cars to determine if the population was larger than originally thought. GM found the additional vehicles included in todayÂ’s recall have the problem. The fix will either be via an over-the-air update or it will require you to bring the vehicle into a dealer for a software update, depending on which vehicle you have. Owner notification letters letting folks know what is necessary are currently scheduled to go out on January 23, 2023. Related video: Cadillac Escalade Infotainment Review

One of the world's largest muscle car museums is auctioning off its cars

Mon, Jan 11 2021

Rick Treworgy's Muscle Car City is one of the biggest collections of high-performance American cars in the world. With over 200 cars of mostly GM makes, it's a mecca for fans of the golden age of Detroit iron. Unfortunately, the museum will be shutting its doors for good on Jan. 17 and auctioning off most of its assets with no reserve. The collection is, to put it bluntly, astounding. Advertised as a combined 65,000-plus horsepower, it occupies a 60,000-square-foot retail space in Punta Gorda, Fla., in a former Walmart store. It make sense when you learn that founder Rick Treworgy made his fortune in the commercial real estate business. As a hobby, he began to amass a truly jaw-dropping collection of muscle cars, filling out a collection that often has every year of a particular model represented, or a grouping of the rarest and highest-performance option packages of that year or model. Often, Treworgy bought placeholders while scouring the country for even rarer versions. It helps that Muscle Car City also houses a showroom where unwanted cars are sold, as well as its own speed shop that stocks plenty of parts. There's even a '50s-style diner called Stingray's Bar and Grill. According to a 2014 episode of Car Crazy, Treworgy has 80 Corvettes alone, more than the actual Corvette Museum. Among them are 20 models from 1967, one of Treworgy's favorites. The rest span the decades from 1954 (he once had a '53 but sold it) to a recently acquired 2020 C8, which, according to The Drive, has only 300 miles on the odometer. You like Impalas? There are models of every year from 1958 to 1969. El Caminos? He's got 'em from 1964 to 1972. Novas? Every year from 1963 to 1970 is represented. Most are the more desirable examples of each breed, with four-speed transmissions, the biggest blocks, and unicorn option packages like a factory 1965 Z16 SS396 Chevelle, one of 200 that were ordered off-menu at Chevy dealerships. And don't even get us started on the Camaros, which include not one, but two COPO 1969s. Treworgy even owns the only known surviving example of a 1936 Chevrolet Phaeton, of which only seven were built. On top of it all, many of these cars are concours quality and have won awards at prestigious car shows. While it's sad to see a collection like this broken up, Treworgy told The Drive that he'd been planning to retire next year anyway. However, the COVID-19 pandemic sped up those plans, greatly reducing the number of visitors to his museum.
