My 2002 Chevy AWD Astro started throwing a PO304 code as well as a lower end knock. I found metal filings on the oil plug. The motor is done and a cost effective repair is not possible as the frame bolts look rusted in place and I am not willing to risk possibly damaging or breaking them. Therefor I am selling it as a Parts Van. The Astro has 86350 miles on it. It is Blue with a grey interior and never gave me trouble till this event. Whats in the Van: Near mint grey cloth interior (see pictures) New windshield (last winter) all other glass is good, clean & clear Lower cladding in nice shape (some are new as of last summer) Hood is new (last year) Transfer case was redone (late last summer) Had a good tranny New starter (past winter) New AC compressor ( in April) New headlight lenses and bulbs ( last summer) New turn signal lenses ( last fall) Custom lighted cornering lenses (last fall) New custom tail lights ( last summer) Custom carpeted storage area behind 2nd seat (third seat included) Sliding door has new rollers (last fall) and was repaired from some body damage Paint has been maintained and touch ups done as needed. Some rust starting to show on drivers rocker ( planned to fix this year) Body is very nice with only a small rust area on front lower lip of passenger fender The rear bumper does have a fair dent in it from being hit Front bumper is good Whats NOT in the Van: Exhaust system from the cat back has been removed Distributor has been removed Tires and rims (pictured) are NOT part of the van as being sold. The Van is being sold as-is, (minus the noted parts) final sale for parts. Keep in mind it will have to be towed out of driveway. I have 1 spare that goes with it as well as 2 additional OEM rims. You will need an additional tire to tow it OR it can be flat bedded. PICK UP ONLY ! Any shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser. Please contact me with any questions and I will get back to you ASAP. Payment in full by Cash required at pickup. |

GM recalling 686k Lambda-platform models for hatch repair
Fri, Jul 10 2015General Motors is recalling 686,287 units of its Lambda platform crossovers. On models equipped with a power rear hatch the system can potentially fail. This campaign includes the 2008-2012 Buick Enclave, 2009-2012 Chevrolet Traverse, 2007-2012 GMC Acadia, and 2007-2010 Saturn Outlook. According to GM's documents to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), dirt can get into a portion of the strut that holds up the hatch and cause the part to prematurely fail. There's a redundancy in place called the Prop Rod Recovery system that's designed to shut the liftgate if there's a malfunction. However, if the breakdown happens too quickly after the hatch is opened the prop rod might not work the way it's supposed to. If someone were in the way of the falling liftgate, they could be hurt. For the repair, dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit to prevent the hatch from closing so quickly. They'll also check the operation of the system afterward. The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall. CONSEQUENCE: If the open liftgate unexpectedly falls, it may strike a person, increasing their risk of injury. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit so that the motor will prevent the rapid closing of the lift gate, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.
GM recalls over 323,000 HD pickups because tailgates can open unexpectedly
Tue, Feb 6 2024General Motors is recalling more than 323,000 heavy-duty pickup trucks in the U.S. because the electronic tailgate release switches can short circuit and open the gates while the vehicles are in park. The recall covers certain Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks from the 2020 through 2024 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says in documents posted on its website Tuesday that water can get into the switches and cause the tailgates to open when in park gear. The agency says that can result in unsecured cargo falling out of the beds, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash. GM is advising owners to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before they drive the trucks. Dealers will replace an exterior touchpad switch. Owners are to be notified by letter starting March 18. GM dealers also have been told to stop selling affected vehicles until repairs are made. The company says in documents that it has 136 complaints about the tailgates opening unexpectedly. GM reported one complaint of a minor injury and three complaints of minor property damage. GM recalls Colorado, Canyon, and Malibu for airbag problem
Wed, Mar 9 2016The Basics: General Motors will recall and issue a stop sale on 1,740 total examples of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, Malibu, and GMC Canyon. This includes 1,579 units in the US and 161 in Canada. The Problem: The second stage of the driver front airbag inflator might not be present. If this happens, the airbag won't fill as quickly as it should in a high-speed crash, which could increase the risk of injury, according to Reuters. This is not related in any way to Takata's inflator problems, and these parts come from a different supplier. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: GM will replace the vehicles' airbag assemblies. If You Own One: GM spokesperson Tom Wilkinson told Autoblog he wasn't specifically sure when recall repairs would begin but said it would be "shortly." He expects the fixes to happen "quickly" because of the small number of affected vehicles, and many of them are either in transport or already in dealer stock. More Information: GM recalled the 2015 Canyon and Colorado in 2014 for a completely separate airbag issue. In that case, a manufacturing error improperly wired the connectors. Related Video: GM Statement GM is recalling 1,579 MY 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Malibu vehicles in the United States and 161 in Canada to replace driver-side front airbags. The second stage of the airbag may not deploy properly in certain high-speed crashes. During a routine quality inspection, it was determined that a component required for a second-stage/high-output deployment was not loaded during the inflator build. Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag assembly. There have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue. This issue is unrelated to the ongoing Takata recalls.
