Here is a 2002 Chevy Tahoe 4x4. This is a former police unmarked vehicle. It is NOT a police package vehicle. Only 81,654 miles. This vehicle was used by the detective bureau in our department.

Exterior:

White paint, some rust bubbling up under doors and fender wells. No major dents, but minor dings and scratches. Will have a hole in roof from radio antenna.

Tow package/receiver hitch, good glass

Interior:

Dark gray interior, carpet, cloth front seats vinyl rear seats, may have a small rip here or there but nothing major, needs a good cleaning. All police equipment was removed so there may be residual holes from mounting brackets here and there, no holes in dash. Cold Air conditioning, cruise control, electronic 4 wheel drive. electric windows all work.

Drive train:

5.3 liter engine, yes - only 81,654 miles. Drive train has a "growl" in it we are uncertain if it is in the transmission, transfercase, or rear end. It does go forward, reverse, and moves. Tires are fair.

***Note the 4 wheel drive is NOT working in this unit. unkown reason it could be mechanical or electrical.***

This was a police unmarked vehicle purchased new in 2002 for this department. It has remained in service until last week when we noticed the growl. It was regularly maintained every 3000 miles. Maintenance records are not available. This vehicle runs and drives, however we highly suggest to have it towed or trailered from our location. This SEMA special drag race is absurdly awesome

The SEMA Show came and went last month, and it showed us a ton of heavily modded goodies to dream about during the long, cold winter. The Motor Trend Channel on YouTube is keeping the party rolling a little longer, though, with a drag race inspired by the aftermarket event. All of the hosts were supposed to borrow a vehicle from the show for the big race, but only two of them actually cajoled companies into lending their wares. Still, the result includes four very cool and extremely different examples of the breadth of the automotive hobby. First up, there's a 1955 Chevrolet with a 535-cubic-inch (8.8-liter) Hemi V8 stuffed under the hood. Appropriately, it's dubbed the Blasphemi, and with skinny tires up front, fat rubber in the rear and a stripped interior, this this is made to go very fast in a straight line. Next, there's a stock Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat boasting 707 horsepower. Plus, host Jessi Lang has her dog riding shotgun for the race. A Chevy Sonic RS with some body mods, downpipe and intake is also competing. Finally, the most bizarre of the quartet is a custom 1958 Jeep Forward Control with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and treads to replace the wheels. Obviously, the Blasphemi and Hellcat are the only two that really have a chance of winning, but check out the video to see which one crosses the finish line first. NHTSA closes 4-year GM investigation, issues common sense advisory [w/video]

Since January 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating a possible problem with corroding brake lines in General Motors' GMT800-platform models, like the Chevrolet Silverado and Suburban and GMC Sierra, in states with salt on their roads in the winter. However, as opposed to launching a full recall of millions of vehicles, the government is issuing a common-sense safety advisory to all drivers in snowy states to keep their vehicle's undercarriage clean. It even has a video explaining things. "Older-model vehicles, often driven in harsh conditions, are subject to corrosion over long periods of time, and we need owners to be vigilant about ensuring they, their passengers, and others on the roads are safe," said NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind in the announcement of the end of the investigation. The agency was clear in its report that "brake line corrosion seen in the GM vehicles was not unique," and the government "has not identified a defect that would initiate a recall order." Instead NHTSA is advising drivers, especially those of vehicles from before 2007, to wash their vehicle's undercarriage in the winter and spring to remove salt or other de-icing chemicals. It also recommends regular checks by a mechanic to make sure everything is in proper order. According to the investigation documents, for just the GMT800 platform models, NHTSA found 3,645 complaints of brake line corrosion, which included allegations of 107 crashes and 40 injuries. The issue was found to be more common in vehicles over 10 years old. GM has released a statement (embedded below) that the company "supports the consumer advisory from NHTSA urging regular maintenance and care of brake lines on older vehicles."
