2004.5 Chevrolet Silverado Duramax Diesel 2500hd Lt Crew Cab Shortbed 2wd on 2040-cars
Fort Worth, Texas, United States

Hello all. Up for sale is my 2004.5 CHEVROLET DURAMAX DIESEL SILVERADO 2500HD LT CREW CAB. This is the "LLY" version which is the 2nd version GM offered in 2004 with the improved fuel injector design.
WHY I AM SELLING THE TRUCK: Quite frankly, I do not use it to it's full potential. While it still has some residual value, I figured it would be best to sell it in lieu of something more suited for my commuting needs. The majority of the miles driven on this truck are highway miles. HOW THIS TRUCK WAS USED: I am the original owner of this truck since I bought it NEW off the lot in Dallas, TX back in 2004. I decided on this particular truck because I knew that I would be accruing lots of mi. on a vehicle to commute long distances [sometimes up to 25-30k mi. in a yr] and that I needed something that was stout enough to be able to handle those miles dependably. I used it as a 2nd source of income working for real estate developers yrs. gone by to pull tractors from the frame hitch. This was done on an occasional basis whenever there was work. It was not my full time job. AFTERMARKET ITEMS THIS TRUCK HAS: This is primarily a STOCK truck. However, here are a couple aftermarket items that I did add to it: -- BILSTEIN SHOCKS [RIDES THE WAY IT SHOULD HAVE FROM THE FACTORY] -- DRIVERS/PAX TINTED WINDOWS [CAME WITH FACTORY TINT FOR REAR SIDE WINDOWS AND REAR WINDOW] -- [2] approx. 6mo. old EVERSTART MAXX 800 CCA BATTERIES -- LINE-X BEDLINER WITH OVER THE RAILS COVERAGE -- N.FAB TWO STEP WHEEL-WHEEL SS NERF BARS -- HANKOOK ATM DYNAPRO TIRES LT245/75R16 LOAD E [VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH LOTS OF TREAD] **NOTE** This truck is NOT a tuner truck and has NEVER been a tuner truck. I did not tow anything super heavy with it and this truck has more than adequate power for what I used it for. WHAT THIS TRUCK NEEDS: This truck does have a couple of items that are in need of repair/replace. -- Windshield is cracked. -- RT Frnt passenger window just stopped going down -- new motor/assy at AUTOZONE is around $150 -- It has a "surge" sometimes at idle. This points to a faulty fuel-pressure regulator. This a very common and pesky issue with these trucks. It does not mean you cannot drive the truck still. In fact, I have driven this truck like this for a while. It is just more of a nuisance than anything. Look it up on all of the forums or "google" it if you wish. -- Missing RT Frnt. passenger power seat plastic knob adjuster that fell off and was lost. [can be seen in picture] -- RT Front mirror has plastic bits of the mirror missing and mirror glass is cracked. Fully functional still including RH integral turn signal and power mirror folding option fully functional. -- Various rock chips, dings/dents, scratches, etc. as expected from a 200k+ mi. truck. -- Driver seat appears that up/down selector does not work. Actuation noise is made when the knob is moved up/down. All other adjustments work. -- There are some stains, scratches, dents/dings, etc. on exterior/interior of the truck. I will try my best to represent all obvious imperfections. -- One missing rear floormat. -- Some clear-coat on alloy wheels appears penetrated, and some oxidation has formed on an area of two of the factory wheels. Please advise if you want close-up pics. MECHANICAL CONDITION OF TRUCK: This truck has served me very well and continues to serve me very well. To my knowledge, everything is in good condition and works. I was anal about oil/filter fuel/filter changes to this rig over it's life. I ALWAYS used OEM or better filters [Like WIX/BOSCH] Oil used was either Shell Rotella, MOBIL 1 DELVAC or MOBIL 1 TURBO DIESEL oil. There are no leaks of any kind in my driveway from oil. The "mighty" Allison transmission has also always been serviced at the fluid change intervals including spin on filter changes and shifts and strong and smooth as the day I bought it. There are no leaks of any kind in my driveway from any transmission fluid. I faithfully had the rear differential oil changed at the recommended intervals as well as the lubing of the chassis zirc fittings at their recommended intervals. There are no leaks of any kind in my driveway from and diff. fluid or chassis fluids, etc. The drive-ability/handling of this truck is very good and very smooth. THIS MOTOR RUNS STRONG. Upon cold start-up, this motor does not produce any smoke of any kind to indicate any problems. Like I mentioned above, it has always been serviced and has never had any tuners or aftermarket "performance parts" added to it -- PERIOD. I cannot overemphasize that enough. HVAC: A/C BLOWS COLD. Heat works as it is supposed to. There is not doubt in my mind that this motor would go another 200k mi. EASILY. I have personally talked to some owners at the local dealership who brought their 2004 in for servicing with over 500k original mi. These Duramax diesel motors have established some very impressive reliability/longevity numbers. **NOTE** Current Mi. are approx. 209670+ as I continue to drive this vehicle some until sold. Please contact me for more interior pics or other pics that you may want to see in greater detail that are not included in this ad and I will try to meet your needs ASAP. **NOTE** Local Pick-Up will enjoy a $500 discount off the final purchase price. Thank you and Good Luck!! |

GM's Reuss predicts 2016 Chevy Camaro will outperform Ford Mustang in every way
Tue, Apr 7 2015We aren't going to be seeing the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro until next month. But even though we know when we're going to see the new muscle car, it's totally unclear whether Chevy will dole out technical details. That means we can't answer the latest version of the age-old question: Camaro or Ford Mustang? Not surprisingly, General Motors North America President Mark Reuss has already stated his position, saying he was "very confident" that the sixth-generation Camaro will be faster, more agile and more efficient than the Ford. Reuss made his comments after saying he drove the new Camaro back-to-back with the Mustang the week prior. Reuss' statement came in a conversation with Fox News about the 2016 Camaro where he elaborated on the car's weight shedding and how it fit into GM's strategy on other new models. "There are some really cool things in the Camaro, that are quite different than the Malibu, [and] CT6," Reuss told Fox. As we reported previously, the Camaro will shed some 200 pounds by switching to aluminum and other lightweight composites for some of its components. With May 16 just over a month away, here's hoping Reuss decides to loose some other details on the next Camaro ahead of its debut. Related Video:
How real is the Chevy Bolt EV and will it really cost $30,000?
Tue, Jan 13 2015"This is us bragging that we can do this kind of car." That's how Michael Simcoe, GM's executive director for NA exteriors, described the Chevy Bolt EV concept, which made a surprise appearance at the Detroit Auto Show today. While there was talk of a 2017 production debut, this is for sure a concept vehicle. But that means the ideas behind the vehicle are perhaps more important than the details. For example, no one is talking about what size battery might appear in a production Bolt, but Simcoe would talk about how rapid progress in battery improvements made it possible for GM to make the bold Bolt declaration that promises 200 miles and a price tag of around $30,000 (after incentives). But if the Bolt makes it to market, it won't be until 2017 (as rumored) or later, is it really fair to promote the car as being available with a federal tax credit? For one thing, credits for plug-in vehicles may change in the next few years, but if the laws stay the same, each manufacturer is limited to 200,000 vehicles before the credits start to decline. GM is justifiably proud that it's sold over 70,000 Volts thus far, but with a new model coming out later this year and a few years to go until the Bolt potentially arrives, GM could be pushing right up against that 200,000 limit when the Bolt goes on sale. But Volt executive chief engineer Pam Fletcher told AutoblogGreen that, "We're just trying to take some of the confusion out." "Think about talking to the average consumer," she said. "First, going through the explanation of how the federal tax credit was set up, how it's being used and so on. [In the industry, we] have the luxury of understanding the nuances of that regulation, but right now people who aren't in the marketplace, they don't have the luxury of all that. It's already hard to communicate the details so we gave them data in a way that is what they're used to seeing." There was one question that drove the two-year Bolt gestation and design period, Simcoe said: What does a better battery offer a vehicle designer? "We've got a number of spaces we play in for powertrain technology and obviously electrification is one of them," he said. "With Volt 1 and then the Spark EV, with that development and batteries getting better for us, we started doing some practical packaging to deliver a vehicle which was not the traditional aero form which you see around electric vehicles.
