So this is our 1959 Chevy Apache Pickup.  For those of you with background and knowledge, you will immediately notice that the front fenders/headlights are off a 1957 Chevy.  Why?  I have no idea.  But this is in fact a titled and VIN matched 1959.  I suspect that at some time in the past, a previous owner that did the paint job probably liked the look of the 57 better and changed them.  There's no indications on the rest of the truck that it would have been the result of either excessive rust, nor do I believe that someone piled up the truck on just the 2 front quarters.

Anyway, about the truck:
We picked this beauty up a while ago to use as part of a photography business.  We have now decided we are done with it and ready to move on.
No secrets.  The truck is way better than most unrestored of this vintage.  Someone painted it gold in the past.  The paint is pretty decent still.  But nothing spectacular.  The box wood was replaced as well.  And that IS very nice.  Tailgate opens and closes.  Doors open and close tight.  Truck starts right up....every single time.  It doesn't smoke, choke, or sputter.  It runs nicely.....really does.  Shifts easily thru all 4 forward gears, as well as reverse.  The stereo works, and actually the speakers are decent.  The seat is something out of a late model rig.  Its comfortable enough, but in my opinion looks dumb.  All the gauges seem to work, but for the odometer/speedometer....it doesn't roll.  The steering wheel is all wood....actually is pretty darn nice.  Carpets good, floors solid etc.  It for sure was someone's amatuer start on a restoration.  Certainly some of it was done well.
You can honestly drive it right now, every day, without concern.
Tires are marginal, it steers and wanders like you would expect.  Brakes are good.  Headlights are good, but only one blinker and one taillight.  So a little wiring.
But truly everyone, this is a nice little truck.  It's not rusty, crusty or dusty.  Way better than a lot of trucks I see on here.
If I can answer any questions let me know.  Thanks for looking and good luck.

New 2016 Chevy Volt ad arrives in time for Tomorrowland

Tue, May 12 2015

As summer approaches, so do the blockbusters. We've already seen Furious 7 and The Avengers: Age of Ultron, while Mad Max: Fury Road arrives this week. Next week's big debut is Disney's Tomorrowland, starring George Clooney, and not surprisingly, the advertising campaign is kicking into gear. Perhaps attempting to capitalize on the high-tech theme of the flick, Chevrolet has teamed up with Disney for the second-generation Volt's very first commercial appearance. As we reported previously, the Volt will star on the big screen when Tomorrowland hits theaters, and it will be accompanied by the EN-V Concept. Take a look at the Volt's Tomorrowland spot, up top. Cadillac XT4 crossover to be built in Kansas City

Mon, Jan 8 2018

Cadillac's upcoming XT4, a crossover we've previously known as the XT3 in a long series of spy shots of heavily camouflaged mules, will be built at General Motors' assembly plant in Kansas City on the same platform as the Chevrolet Malibu, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the plan. That will give Cadillac another entry in the red-hot luxury crossover segment and, GM hopes, help to reverse a sales slump in the U.S. It'll also breath life into the Kansas City plant that makes the slow-selling Malibu, where GM cut a third shift last year, by sharing the assembly line between the crossover and sedan and defraying costs for each vehicle. The XT4 was known most recently as the XT3, with styling cues based on the Escala concept sedan from 2016. It's slightly smaller than the XT5, Cadillac's top-selling vehicle, and will also augment the full-size Escalade in Cadillac's stable of SUVs when it makes its expected debut later this year. Cadillac last week reported its second-highest-ever sales mark with 356,467 vehicles, an increase of 15.5 percent over 2016. But that mark papers over an 8 percent sales decline in the U.S. to 156,440 vehicles. The luxury brand is on a hot streak in China, where sales jumped 50.8 percent last year to 175,489 units.Related Video: Image Credit: Brian Williams Plants/Manufacturing Cadillac Chevrolet GM Crossover sales cadillac xt5 cadillac xt4 cadillac xt3

GM says safety is a reason it's dropping Apple CarPlay, Android Auto

Tue, Dec 12 2023

Update: GM sent us a statement as a follow-up to its original comments seen in this post: "We wanted to reach out to clarify that comments about GM's position on phone projection were misrepresented in previous articles and to reinforce our valued partnerships with Apple and Google and each company’s commitment to driver safety. GM's embedded infotainment strategy is driven by the benefits of having a system that allows for greater integration with the larger GM ecosystem and vehicles." The original story can be read in its entirety below.   General Motors announced its intention to remove Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality from its upcoming EVs earlier this year, and internet comments sections haven't been kind since. As the first of many EVs to follow – the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV – hits the market, GM is expanding on its initial explanations for dropping the tech. Motor Trend spoke with Tim Babbit, GMÂ’s head of product for infotainment, to learn more. Attributed to Babbit, from the story: “They have stability issues that manifest themselves as bad connections, poor rendering, slow responses, and dropped connections. And when CarPlay and Android Auto have issues, drivers pick up their phones again, taking their eyes off the road and totally defeating the purpose of these phone-mirroring programs. Solving those issues can sometimes be beyond the control of the automaker.” Babbit suggests that a world without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto will be a safer one, as folks wonÂ’t be looking to control their infotainment systems via their phones. However, Babbit also tells MT that this theory hasnÂ’t been tested in either the lab or the real world yet. Instead of using a navigation or music-playing app powered through your phone, upcoming GM EVs will use a Google-based infotainment system called “Ultifi” that runs a ton of integrated Google apps. Google Maps will be the native navigation app in the system; youÂ’ll be able to log in to Spotify or other apps to load your music up, and so on. The idea here is that youÂ’ll have all the same apps that were on your phone available but integrated within the infotainment system instead, and you'll be able to use voice controls to control every last bit of it with no need to reach for a phone. That sounds amenable in theory, but how consumers react to the removal of a feature that they know and love now is a risky gamble.
