One of a kind custom Chevy C50 Pickup. My father and I bought this truck from a very talented fabricator in Tampa, FL about a year ago. We were blown away by the quality of work, though there were a few details left to finish up. We completed the truck; restored the engine compartment beautifully and took care of some vibration issues in the driveline. The truck now looks and drives AWESOME! In a nutshell: engine, trans, clutch, rear end, brakes, steering are all solid and trouble-free and the body and frame are completely rust-free. You can drive this truck anywhere.
Here are the details:
10 FEET removed from original moving truck frame; 5 feet in front of and 5 feet behind the rear wheels. That is a stock width 8' Chevy truck bed set atop the original C50 framerails. She has a strong, reliable 350 V8, 4-speed manual with a 2 speed rearend for a total of 8 forward gears. Runs and drives great, totally sorted with no vibrations. Everything works, stops, goes well. Body has a nice 10-footer paintjob, I am picky, it looks great to most people. Minor issues include some bodywork shrinkage & tiny bubbles on the bedsides. The interior is clean & original. This truck is a blast to drive and turns heads everywhere. The engine compartment is completely restored with the carb rebuilt, working manual choke, new belts & hoses, new master cylinder; looks absolutely fantastic. Wood bed floor all redone. Rear end, wheel bearings & brakes just serviced. Front tires are fine for around town but may need to be replaced in the future due to some dry rot. Other than that needs nothing! No disappointments. This truck will fit on a normal open flatbed for shipping and estimated weight is between 6-7k lbs.

National Corvette Museum to recreate sinkhole experience for patrons [UPDATE]
Sun, May 10 2015UPDATE: The Thunderdome at the National Corvette Museum is not a ride; instead it's an experience that mixes digital graphics and thundering sound. For a brief period, it looked like the National Corvette Museum was going to preserve that sinkhole that ate eight important 'Vettes last year. After all, tourism boomed there afterwards. However, keeping the crater would have been more expensive than just doing the repairs. The museum isn't ready to let people completely forget, though, and now intends to make a major attraction out of a recreated version of the calamity. The museum's plan turns the sinkhole disaster into an amusement park ride called the Thunderdome, according to GM Authority. In a smaller recreation of the Skydome, 15 people at a time would get to watch an imitation of the sinkhole devouring the eight Corvettes. To make the experience even more immersive, visitors would get to view this all from an artificial, underground cave. If you missed seeing the actual pit, this would certainly be a bizarre way to experience it. According to GM Authority, the exhibit would also include an explanation of how sinkholes occur. The Corvette museum reportedly wants the attraction open by this fall.
Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV
Mon, Jul 20 2015A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV
Texas sues GM, saying it tricked customers into sharing driving data sold to insurers
Wed, Aug 14 2024Texas filed a lawsuit Tuesday against GM over years of alleged abuse of customers' data and trust. New car owners were presented with a "confusing and highly misleading" process that was implied to be for their safety, but "was no more than a deceptively designed sales flow" that surrendered their data for GM to sell. The suit contends that at no point was selling driving data ever even suggested as a possibility, putting GM in violation of the state's consumer protection laws. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is seeking a jury trial and at least $10,000 per offense (every GM car sold in the state since 2015) and a hefty add-on of $250,000 in cases where the victim was over 65. Texas seems to be flying high after a recent $1.4 billion settlement from Meta over other privacy concerns. This may well be a way to solve any pending budgetary issues in the Lone Star State.
