1960 Chevrolet Truck 4x4 on 2040-cars
Evergreen, Colorado, United States
I have owned this truck as part of my collection two years. Originally purchased for a full frame off restoration, my interests have changed a bit. Here a few details:
1960 Chevrolet 1/2 ton 235 cubic inch inline 6 4 speed manual transmission divorced 2 speed transfer case Selectro manual hubs The body is in good condition. It has a lot of previous amateur body and paint work. The red/white color scheme is original, but the truck has been repainted. The frame and body are solid and free of any major rust. The original wood bed is intact and useable. Previous owner claimed it to be a native Colorado truck with 47,000 original miles. Based on overall condition, I believe it that to be an accurate claim. The following work has been completed: NOS sweeper seals on front axle All synthetic fluids including differentials, transfer case, transmission and engine Front hub and wheel bearing service Diagnosis and repair of various electrical shorts Cleaning and re-building of speedometer (odometer reset to 00,000) Clutch adjustment Things needing attention: Blower motor is not working. It has power at the switch and to the resistor. Left windshield wiper over-extends. I think a nut has worked itself loose. Oil pressure sending unit needs replaced. I have this part somewhere. This truck is far from perfect. As it stands now, it is a nice, original truck you can use and enjoy without hesitation. It would make an excellent candidate for a full restoration. I am happy to discuss any details. Purchaser will be provided with original owners and service manuals; original wheels with era correct traction tires and whatever spare parts I have. It is running and driving... registered and insured. It spends its life in indoor storage. Please feel free to contact via e-mail for more information. I am entertaining all cash offers. For reference, the insured/appraised value of the truck is $15,000. Test drives are welcome as long as the weather is nice, the roads are dry and you arrive with a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. Truck is for sale locally and subject to prior sale. On Sep-06-14 at 15:03:25 PDT, seller added the following information: The hood has the typical warp at the attachment points. This defect is not well illustrated in the photos. If I were keeping the truck, I'd get a correct 60-61 hood. I have a lead on one for the final purchaser. The aluminum wheels are from a late model Suburban and have Michelin LTX (P255-65-16) tires with about 1/4 tread remaining. The traction tires are 3/4 tread. Please do not bid unless you intend to buy. :) On Sep-07-14 at 06:32:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Also included with sale are a couple of NOS key blanks and original 1960 Colorado number plates. Please ask any questions about the truck before you bid. |

GM to restore legendary Corvette damaged in sinkhole accident
Fri, Dec 5 2014Car lover's hearts' sank when they saw images of bent and destroyed classic Corvettes at the bottom of a sinkhole last February after the floor of the National Corvette Museum gave way. General Motors announced Wednesday it would restore the one millionth Corvette ever produced to its former glory. The 1992 convertible was heavily damaged when a 40-foot deep sinkhole opened beneath a bevy of rare cars at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Since then, GM has been slowly restoring the classic cars, though five of the eight that caught in the sinkhole were determined to be too damaged to repair. This November, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 Blue Devil was the first car to be returned in mint condition to the Museum, according to Autoblog. It suffered significant damage but was still drivable after being pulled out of the debris. The one millionth Corvette is still in bad shape. The automaker is estimating six months worth of work to restore the car, which sustained paint scratches, rear-suspension damage and a mangled front fender. BMW, Hyundai score big in JD Power's first Tech Experience Index
Mon, Oct 10 2016While automakers are quick to brag about winning a JD Power Initial Quality Study award, the reality, as we've pointed out before, is that these ratings are somewhat misleading, since IQS doesn't necessarily distinguish genuine quality issues. JD Power's new Tech Experience Index aims to solve that problem. The new metric takes the same 90-day approach as IQS but focuses exclusively on technology – collision protection, comfort and convenience, driving assistance, entertainment and connectivity, navigation, and smartphone mirroring. It splits the industry up into just seven segments, based loosely on size, which is why the Chevrolet Camaro is in the same division (mid-size) as Kia Sorento and the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class is in the same segment as the Hyundai Genesis (mid-size premium). It makes for some screwy bedfellows, to be sure. Still, splitting tech experience away from initial quality should allow customers to make more informed and intelligent decisions when buying new vehicles. In the inaugural study, respondents listed BMW and Hyundai as the big winners, with two segment awards – the 2 Series for small premium and the 4 Series for compact premium, and the Genesis for mid-size premium and Tucson for small segment. The Chevrolet Camaro (midsize), Kia Forte (compact), and Nissan Maxima (large) scored individual wins. Ford also had a surprising hit with the Lincoln MKC, which ranked third in the compact premium segment behind the 4 Series and Lexus IS. This is a coup for the Blue Oval, whose woeful MyFord Touch systems made the brand a victim of the IQS' flaws in the early 2010s. But Ford and other automakers might not want to celebrate just yet. According to JD Power, there's still a lot of room for improvement – navigation systems were the lowest-rated piece of tech in the study. Instead, customers repeatedly saluted collision-avoidance and safety systems, giving the category the best marks of the study and listing blind-spot monitoring and backup cameras as two must-have features – 96 percent of respondents said they wanted those two systems in their next vehicle. But this isn't really a surprise. Implementation of safety systems from brand to brand is similar, and they don't require any input from users, unlike navigation and infotainment systems which are frustratingly deep.
