Im letting go of my friend Butch Walkers 1959 Chevy 3100 Apache fleetside. Affectionately named "Pearl" for obvious reasons....

You may have seen this truck last year on ebay which is where we got it from. Its not the same truck anymore! Where there was, literally NO SUSPENSION, we had it reworked with monroe shocks and leaf springs to sit at a low but comfortable to drive level. The white walls were stripped in favor of classic black tires and the engine received a full tune up/fluid change! I just replaced the transmission rear main seal as well as the slip yoke and Universal joint. New belts for the alternator and a strong battery.  The engine runs smooth and at a steady cool level. Power steering and brakes make stopping and turning a breeze. It was converted to an automatic but still retains the original dash shifter. The Diamond gauge cluster works (except for temp... see aftermarket gauge) as well as the heat which is STRONG. Kick panels function properly. It tracks straight down the road and handles great with strong get up and go from the motor with edlebrock carbs.

Its a "turn key" (technically push button) truck

Its set up to drive and be used as a truck. Its not a trailer queen but its ready to run and catch some looks

Im an honest seller so I wont go without mentioning what I feel is of concern with the truck although only a few....

  • The Bed was done with plywood and is peeling and while structurally sound its not the prettiest. An easy and cheap fix with a few buddies and some lumber
  • The truck sat for 3 weeks in the Malibu sun with a full tank of gas which caused it to vapor out of the cap. What resulted was a discoloration and peeling just below the cap
  • When the truck has sat for a bit, upon startup it emits a puff of smoke which clears. I assume valve guides or even a valve adjustment would fix (although not necessary to run)

The truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
A $500 deposit is due via paypal within 24 hours with the remaining balance due in cash/money order.

The truck is a 6 foot short bed fleetside

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible headed for Geneva debut

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.

Leak reveals GM's 2017 heavy duty diesel trucks to get 910 lb-ft of torque [UPDATE]

Tue, Sep 27 2016

UPDATE: Chevrolet officially announced specs for the 2017 Silverado HD and the rumors were true. The truck's new Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 puts out 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Chevrolet says the new motor produces 19 percent more torque and 12 percent more horsepower, while producing 35 percent fewer emissions. Overall, the new engine is a big improvement over the current motor, which generates 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque. According to Truck Trend, GM's newest heavy duty pickup trucks will pick up quite a bit more power and torque. The publication spotted a recent GM Powertrain ordering catalog that had the engine specs for the 2017 model year and managed to get some screenshots before the catalog was taken down, and they can be viewed here. The screenshots revealed that the 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 powering the Silverado and Sierra heavy duty models will boast 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. This is a substantial gain over the current models' 397 horsepower and 765 lb-ft of torque, and as Truck Trend points out, it exceeds the Ford Super Duty line's horsepower output of 440, but comes short of the 925 lb-ft rating. Truck Trend credits part of this output gain to the new intake system GM will introduce on the 2017 heavy duties. The intake gets 60 percent of its air from a scoop on the hood, with the other 40 percent coming from behind one of the front fenders. GM doesn't reveal horsepower figures in the press release about the scoop, but it does say the cooler air helps with maintaining the engine's output, and that the scoop does produce a ram-air affect, providing more air at speed. As we know, more air plus more fuel equals more power, but there's likely more to the power increase in this engine than only the intake. Mother's Day Suggestion No. 2,506

Thu, 02 May 2013

With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.
Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt - with similar results - around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Scroll down for the video, but know that the action really gets going at around the 1:40 mark.
