1956 Chevrolet Pickup by Blue Ridge Hot Rods
We began with a very solid southern truck and performed the following..
Body
Truck was removed from chassis and totally disassembled.
The cab and all small parts were media blasted .
Minor rust repairs were made using new sheet metal from Ecklers Classic trucks.
We then replaced essentially the rest of the body panels because we didn't want a truck that was smeared head to toe with body filler.
We added new front fenders, new rear fenders, a complete new bed with all new Oak and Stainless strips, new tail gate, new driver and passenger doors, new running boards, new hood etc..
It was then painted with a custom mixed BASF basecoat/ clear system which we wet sanded and polished to a show quality finish.
We then added all new glass, front and rear windows, left and right door glass with new regulators, vent glass, all new weather stripping etc.
Next up was all new chrome, front and rear bumpers, grille, headlamp trim, window trim, mirrors etc..
We also added a modern Rain Gear windshield wiper system.
Wiring consist of an 18ct Painless Wiring kit with all new plugs and sockets front to back.
All new lighting includes H4 headlamps, LED tail lamps, new park/turn lamps etc.
All assembly was performed using stainless Steel or grade 8 hardware.
The interior is all new as well, it includes Air Conditioning, leather covered power seats, custom leather door panels and console with alligator inserts, a custom leather headliner, leather sun visors, window cranks and door handles from Clayton Machine, new custom instrument cluster from Classic Instruments, Ididit tilt column, Billet Specialties steering wheel with leather half wrap etc...
Chassis
We sandblasted the bare chassis and added the following-
Heidts Mustang II front clip with polished stainless upper and lower control arms, power rack and pinion steering and power disc brakes.
Out back we added a Ford 8.8 rear with 3.73 gears and disc brakes that is held in place with a Heidts polished stainless 4 link kit and polished aluminum adjustable coil-overs.
The chassis was then painted Cyber gray from the ZR-1 Corvette before we added all new fuel and brake lines.
Powertrain
The engine is a new 350ci with a Trickflow camshaft/ aluminum cylinder head package making an honest 400hp, it has a polished 140 amp alternator, polished A/C compressor, polished Be-Cool aluminum radiator, Hooker headers, Flowmaster mufflers etc..
Backing up the engine is a fresh 700-R4 overdrive trans with a mild stall and a B&M shifter.
Wheels consist of Billet Specialties "Street Lites" wrapped with Mickey Thompson Sportsman radials front and rear.

This truck is as clean as they come, ready to be wiped down and register for the shows, or gas it up and cruise across the country!
It literally is all new front to back and top to bottom.
We have over $50k in parts receipts alone so obviously it's not being given away.

Feel free to call or email with any questions!

GM follows Ford and Honda in skipping SEMA

Fri, May 20 2022

The list of automakers skipping SEMA has become longer. First reported by Muscle Cars and Trucks, and confirmed to us by a company representative, General Motors will not have an official presence at the aftermarket show. It joins Ford and Honda in leaving the show. It will be a large hole in the show, with the GM brands typically filling a significant swath of available show space in one of the main halls. GM hasn't provided much explanation for the move, either. The GM representative provided Autoblog with the same statement that Muscle Cars and Trucks got: "GM has made the decision not to participate in the 2022 SEMA Show. The SEMA show has always inspired us, and accessories and performance parts remain an important part of our business." We also asked if we would see any sort of announcements around the time of the show — Ford said it has plans to share some things around that time — however, the GM representative said that the company has no immediate plans for announcements. Certainly things could change between now and the November show, though. SEMA had previously noted that other exhibitors would help fill in some of the space vacated by these major OEMs. Another OEM, Volkswagen, is returning to the show after an absence, which will also help with the display deficit. Corvette + fireworks = so much glory

Fri, Jul 3 2015

You might think that those of us making our living by reviewing cars, think critically about the cars we're driving most of the time. It could be that I'm an underachiever, but that's not the case with me. In fact, unless I'm set to the review task, I typically think about the cars in front of and around me more frequently. That's because a) you never know what you're going to see out there, and b) all of them could be out to bump/scratch/tailgate/crash me out. You can never be too careful. Such was the case when I was driving a 2015 Chevy Corvette earlier this week. I'd already had my fun finding the edges of grip on a river road in the car, the night before; on the morning in question I was just trying to get to work. But while scanning the suburban streets for potential dangers to the 'Vette's neat-o Daytona Sunrise orange paint, I spied a XXL-sized fireworks tent in an empty parking lot. Oh right, I remembered, 4th of July weekend. That obvious bit of observation lead to a chain of thought along these lines: "We should do something with this car for the 4th" ... "Too bad I have to give it back tomorrow." ... "Wonder if I could do a quick video?" ... "Wonder if I can set off a bunch of fireworks in slow-mo for a video?" The result, well, I won't call it genius, but I will say that I remember why every kid loves fireworks. And I will call it glorious. Happy 4th, y'all.

Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.
