Rarest of the Rare. 1954 Chevy 3100 series five window half ton pickup with very rare factory G.M. Hydramatic automatic transmission.  Outstanding candidate for restoration.  Has been setting in Texas Panhandle and not driven for several years. Does NOT currently run but was running when parked several years ago.  Engine is not locked up and will turn by hand.  Good Texas title.  Truck is located in Amarillo Texas.  I'm listing this truck for a family member who does not have a eBay account.  A 90% rust free truck with good body but has the normal small dents and scratches you would expect for a truck of this year, but no serious body damage as pictures show. This truck also has the dealer installed 15" steel wheels with original steel clips to hold hub caps intact. The hubcaps and trim rings are new.  Tires are used. Notice that this truck does not have that  "old tired and wore out look".  It sets up nice and straight and body alignment is good.  There are TWO  factory options that make this truck very rare and very desirable:

1. TRANSMISSION: The rare factory Hydramatic automatic transmission. Only a hand full of serious GM truck collectors of this era have ever seen one of these trucks with a Hydramatic transmission in person and there is an abundance of documentation that a very limited few were built with this option.  These same transmissions were also used in the Oldsmobile and Pontiac cars of that era. They were a very reliable transmission.  Many Hot Rodders in the 50's switched from 4 speeds to Hydramatics and many races were won with the tough Hydramatic transmission because the risk of missing a gear with a 4 speed in a tight race was eliminated with the Hydramatic transmission.

2. INTERIOR:  This truck was the "Best of the Best" interior up grade package called the "Deluxe Interior".  Only a limited number were ever known to exist.  It is believed that G.M. was responding to Ford Motor. Co. who had already introduced their "FIVE STAR CAB" to their truck lineup. The Ford Five Star Cab was a very dressed up interior package with a few extra exterior options as well and was doing very well in the light truck market. Evidently G.M. felt the need to respond to Ford with their version of a "CADILLAC" truck. The Korean War was over and the economy was strong.  This 1954 Chevy rare interior package was a upgraded interior with the following items seen in pictures that I've enclosed.  General Motors offered two options of interior in 1954. The "Standard Interior" and the "Deluxe Interior".  The Standard interior was with brown cardboard trim, black steering wheel and black rubber floor mat which was very common.  As a premium upgrade interior General Motors also offered a "Deluxe Interior" that was color keyed to the exterior color. Please see the following attached pictures of remnants of old original interior to verify " DELUXE INTERIOR" was a option on this truck.   Also please do a Google search of   "1954 Chevy Truck Interior Colors"  then click on the link at  " Jim Carter Truck Parts".  You will find information on this rare interior on this sight.  Mr. Carter is well know for his vast selection of Chevy truck parts and his research and knowledge of this era truck and is a true authority on old Chevy trucks.  When I say  "Rarest of the Rare"  this is no exaggeration.  How many 1954 Chevy trucks have you seen with these two rare options together on one truck??

Factory green painted steering wheel and steering column. Please note the pictures show a limited amount of original green paint still on steering wheel.
Factory upgraded cloth seat with two tone checkered fabric. See pictures.
Factory green rubber floor mat. There is still a small amount of green rubber intact on floor for color verification but not visible in pictures.
Factory Green dual sun visors. See pictures.
Factory two tone green foam padded arm rest. See pictures
Factory green cardboard door trim panels. See pictures
Factory green cardboard headliner. Gone
Factory 1.5 inch wide rubber doors seals that attach to cab ( not attached to door ) are green and still intact.
Factory green painted running boards instead of the usual black running boards as on other 1954 Chevy trucks.

What makes this truck unusual and very limited in production is the combination of both the" Hydamatic Transmission" plus the " Deluxe Interior" with cloth seat and color coordinated interior together on same truck.  Many deluxe 5 window cab trucks were produced, but to add the "Deluxe interior" with " Hydramatic " transmission together is super rare.  Most of the rare Hydramatic trucks had the five window cab with  the "standard interior" package which was trimmed in the usual brown cardboard with black steering wheel and black rubber floor mat.  This truck with its rare options and limited production deserves a concourse restoration.  No one knows, but this could quiet possibly be the only one of a few to survive.

This truck has not had a repaint. The white paint under the green paint on the cab that is seen in the pictures is because G.M. used a white cab to begin with on this two tone truck. The upper section of the cab was masked off in order to end up with a white upper cab. Then the lower part of the cab including the firewall was painted green on top of the existing white paint in order to make a two tone colored cab.
.
The side glass is green tinted glass but the windshield is clear glass suggesting that the windshield had been replaced in its history. The only missing  mechanical items are the voltage regulator and the starter

Forza Motorsport 6's new drivable Hot Wheels cars are the best

Tue, May 3 2016

Each month, Turn 10 Studios releases a new car pack for the latest installment of its Forza Motorsport video game. Sometimes that means less-than-exciting stuff coming to our Xbox Ones – BMW X6M, bleh – but this time our inner seven-year-old is beyond ecstatic. Two of the seven cars are based on actual Hot Wheels models. And. They're. Awesome. First we have the 2011 Hot Wheels Bone Shaker. Yes, there are flames on the side. And yes, there's a giant skull where the grille should be. This one came from the imagination of "Mr. Hot Wheels" Larry Wood, whose design was so popular it inspired an actual real-world creation. Like all good things in this world, it's powered by a small-block Chevy V8. Oh, and it has no roof. This will be a popular one among gamers. The other digitized Hot Wheels creation is a 2005 Ford Mustang. A modest vehicle, sure, but the toy designers have festooned this pony car with a wild paint scheme and the body mods to emphasize it. Originally developed to celebrate the 'Stang's 50th birthday, this Hot Wheels car trades Americana for wild Japanese style. There's just one functioning life-size version of this car in existence as well, but if you look hard, you might be able to find one of the 1:64 scale models that inspired it. Other highlights from this month's car pack include the latest Ford Focus RS – finally time to replace that NASCAR-V8-powered, all-wheel-drive 2009 Focus RS – the 2015 McLaren P1 GTR, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS, the aforementioned X6M, and Alain Prost's 1990 Ferrari 641 F1 car. The Hot Wheels Car Pack is available for download today. GM opens official investigation into C8 Corvette transmission leaks

Mon, Nov 1 2021

In March 2020, a month after Chevrolet began customer deliveries of the 2020 C8 Corvette, a GM dealer technician created a Reddit thread about a leaking gearbox in a Corvette with 32 miles. That car hadn't even been sold yet. Since then, as a search of "C8 Corvette transmission leak" shows, it's been tales of woe for some owners. Something in the Tremec TR-9080 transaxle in the back of the mid-engined Corvette doesn't work as it should, the fault able to cause codes that the transmission needs service, or that the driver needs to shift to park. In some cases, the battery would die because of follow-on issues after the initial transmission code, that code preventing the car from powering down. As Autoevolution reports, GM filed paperwork with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in August to look into what's going on. Between forum threads and GM's investigation document, there are several issues mentioned. The most common appears to be the dual-clutch transmission leaking fluid due to gasket failures like the one suffered by one owner at 858 miles, and another for an owner currently enduring a second leaking transmission. The Midengined Corvette Forum reported that Chevy engineers redesigned the TR-9080 pan, fitting Corvettes with the new unit at some point in the 2021 model year. The original pan was stamped steel unit affixed to the engine with two studs and 13 bolts, plus "reinforcement plates." The updated pan is said to be a cast aluminum unit affixed with two studs and 17 bolts, omits the reinforcement plates, and gets a new machined new groove around its edge to seat the gasket seal. The GM paperwork now at the NHTSA mentions a P1789 code, and says one reason for it could be "debris on the park position sensor magnet causing an incorrect position reading to the TCM." This might be caused by another issue mentioned in forums, which is clogged transmission filters. GM gives instructions for returning transmission filters to the company, and a poster on one forum said the Corvette tech at the dealer where he bought his Corvette told him the automaker "requires every used transmission filter to be returned to GM."  Whatever's going on, the problems haven't stopped, and they go beyond the P1789 code. Over the weekend, a 2022 Corvette owner posted on Corvette Forums that he got a check engine light on his car after just 850 miles.

This 450-hp electric Lotus Evora is powered by Tesla and Chevrolet

Tue, May 9 2017

When someone mentions an electric Lotus, the first thing that comes to mind is the Tesla Roadster, the California-based automaker's first vehicle. That car started life as an Elise before being heavily massaged and adapted by Tesla's engineers. In a similar spirit, the people at Onpoint Dyno are close to finishing Blue Lightning, a track-ready all-electric Lotus Evora. Blue Lightning uses a Tesla drive unit and a Chevrolet Volt battery pack, both mounted in the middle in place of the Evora's 3.5-liter Toyota V6. It's putting down about 450 horsepower at the wheels. The car was built for time attack sessions, so power is fed through custom forged wheels and super sticky Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires, the same ones found on the last Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. There is a custom digital instrument cluster in place of the Lotus gauges. There's also a regen paddle on the left side of the steering wheel. With a full charge, Blue Lighting should go about 120 miles. While the car runs under its own power, it's only about 90 percent complete. It has no power steering, no firewall in between the seats and the motor and battery pack, no A/C, and a large hole where the shift lever used to be. Other final touches include fine-tuning the brakes and suspension. There is also a custom rear bumper coming that should make it look more like the new Lotus Evora 400. Onpoint Dyno expects the car to hit the track in the next month or so. Related Video:
