1967 Chevy Ii 4-speed, Solid Nevada Car on 2040-cars
Dayton, Nevada, United States
|
Up for sale is a very solid, 1967 Chevy II Nova. This car has been media blasted and put in epoxy primer. It blasted with soda around the glass and trim and glass bead blasted everywhere else. The bare metal was prepped correctly for primer and any soda residue has been removed. The epoxy primer was applied two weeks ago. The blasting was professionally done and none of the panels warped or were damaged in any way. The front fenders were left in bare metal as the original plan was to replace them. A new driver's side fender comes with the car but I would recommend that the passenger side fender be replaced as well. As you can see this is an extremely solid car. It does not need any panel replacement of any kind. Super solid floors, trunk, trunk drop offs, back window channel, jambs, etc. are all 100% solid. The car has been stripped down and is ready for restoration. It is an original six cylinder car and was a driving six cylinder, four speed car. The four speed is not original but was installed and functioning. It comes with a correct Nova bellhousing and z-bar set up. I have no info on the transmission as far as if it has ever been rebuilt. It is an aluminum case Muncie, with shifter, numbers available by request or I will add them to the listing later. Glass is in fair shape. Also included is everything we removed from the car like bumpers, grille, moldings etc. All parts removed would be considered poor condition but all of the brackets are in great shape. The rear ralley wheels and tires do not go with the car, it will have generic rollers on the rear. Front rallyes are included. This car is a great platform for a restoration project. The strengths of this car is how solid everything is. In the underside pics, please do not confuse surface rust with real hardcore rust. This is NOT a rusty car by any stretch of the imagination. The reason for the sale is the customer really wanted a 66 Chevelle and one became available to him. Please look at the pictures very closely and ask any and all questions BEFORE YOU BID. This is a starting point for a complete restoration. The car is pretty straight overall, the passenger side rear quarter panel needs to be straightened out, and the trunk has a small dent right in the middle. The rockers have small dents on both sides. Both doors are in good shape with a few small dings. Overall it is a very good car that doesnt need a bunch of panels cut out or endless hours of body work. If you would like the bodywork to be done prior to shipping that is an option as well. I can ship the car as is, prepped, painted, whichever you prefer. The auction is for the car, "as-is." The original six cylinder that was in the car has been sold. There are no front seats, the back seat is not original but is included. The steering and brakes are still functioning to help move the car and for shipping. I will assist in any way I can with scheduling shipping but the cost is your obligation. Talk to me before you book a shipper unless you are confident and have used a particular shipper in the past. ( Some say or promise one thing and do not deliver as expected.) Again, please ask questions before you bid and do not assume anything. Any parts you see in the pics come with the car, but if your not sure, ask. You can send your phone number and I will call you back and take very specific pictures upon request. I will not take more pics if I have not spoken with you first. Payment is by cashiers check, cash in person, personal check is fine too. (Car will be released when check clears.) No pay-pal, no trades, no payment plans.

What if the mid-engine Corvette is really a Cadillac?
Tue, Jun 28 2016Call me crazy, but I'm not convinced the mid-engine Corvette is the next Corvette. The rumor is strong, yes. And, contrary to some of the comments on our site, Car and Driver - leader of the mid-engine Corvette speculation brigade - has a pretty good record predicting future models. But it's another comment that got me thinking: or maybe it's a Cadillac. There is clearly something mid-engine going on at GM, and I think it makes sense for the car to be a Cadillac. First off, check out how sweet the 2002 Cadillac Cien concept car still looks in the photo above. Second, there are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. There are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. The C7 is relatively young in Corvette years, starting production almost three years ago as a 2014 model. Showing a 2019 model at the 2018 North American International Auto Show would kill sales of a strong-selling car before its time. Not to mention it would only mean a short run for the Grand Sport, which was the best-selling version of the previous generation. More stuff doesn't add up. Mid-engine cars are, in general, more expensive. Moving the Vette upmarket leaves a void that the Camaro does not fill. There's not much overlap between Camaro and Corvette customers. Corvette owners are older and enjoy features like a big trunk that holds golf clubs. Mid-engine means less trunk space and alienating a happy, loyal buyer. Also, more than 60 years of history. The Corvette is an icon along the likes of the Porsche 911 and Ford Mustang. I'm not sure the car-buying public wants a Corvette that abandons all previous conventions. And big changes bring uncertainty - I don't think GM would make such a risky bet. Chevrolet could build a mid-engine ZR1, you might say, and keep the other Corvettes front-engine. Yes they could, and it would cost a ton of money. And they still need to fund development of that front-engine car. I highly doubt the corporate accountants would go for that. But a Cadillac? Totally. Cadillac is in the middle of a brand repositioning. GM is throwing money at this effort. A mid-engine halo car is the just the splash the brand needs to shake off the ghosts of Fleetwoods past. And it's already in Cadillac President Johan De Nysschen's playbook. He was in charge of Audi's North America arm when the R8 came out. A Caddy sports car priced above $100,000 isn't that unreasonable when you can already price a CTS-V in that range.
1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28
Mon, Jan 12 2015Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won. Porsche wins the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans
Sun, Jun 14 2015The question going into this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans was whether or not the Porsche 919 Hybrid would be able to combine its qualifying pace with race reliability. After battling neck-and-neck with Audi's R18 for most of the race, the answer is a resounding yes. Not only did Porsche drivers climb the first two spots on the podium, they did so without any major mishaps on track. This win is the first overall trophy for Porsche since 1998. Audi previously won the last five races, and 13 of the last 15. Corvette also returned to the winner's circle, with the No. 64 C7.R taking winning the GTE Pro division. The victory is the first class win for Corvette since 2011. KCMG won the LMP2 class in ninth overall. With 45 minutes to go the No. 98 Aston Martin crashed out of first place in GTE Amateur, giving the class win to SMP Racing's Ferrari and second place to the Patrick Dempsey Racing Porsche 911 RSR. For the full list of official results, click here. The GTE Pro class proved to be just as exciting as the P1 class, with a four-way battle for first after four hours into the race. For most of the race, the battle at the top went back and forth between the two German manufacturers. An tire puncture in the No. 7 Audi gave up the lead to Porsche, and moments later a crash forced the No. 8 into the garage. But a three-minute replacement of the front and rear bodywork kept the Audi in contention. As the race wore into the night, Porsche maintained a slightly faster pace than Audi. Nick Tandy took the lead on Lap 253 early Sunday morning, and car No. 19 never gave up the top position. The win is the first for all three drivers of the No. 19 – Nico Hulkenberg, Earl Bamber, and Nick Tandy. A lap behind in second was the No. 17 Porsche. The Audis fought reliability problems late in the race but still finished third with the No. 7 R18. The GTE Pro class proved to be just as exciting as the P1 class, with a four-way battle for first after four hours into the race. As the Aston Martin cars dropped away, the lone Corvette Racing entry took over, followed by a charging AF Corse team Ferrari 458 Italia. The Corvette and Ferrari continued to trade places in the final hours until gearbox trouble forced the No. 51 Ferrari out of contention. It was eventually passed by the other AF Corse car, No. 71. Nissan experienced all the pain of a first-year effort with its front-wheel-drive GT-R LM Nismo.
