Complete Restoration

Looking for the perfect Nova? This is it. This original 1971 Nova was purchased at Paul Smith Chevrolet in Alabama where it spent most of its life. The car has only had two owners since new. The last owner had her for the last 12 years.

I took the car completely apart, every inch of this car has been addressed. The car was paint stripped down to the metal. The body was perfect, I had to replace the floors due to the heater core leaking under the original rubber floor mat, I have picture to document the process. The car was re-painted with GM code 19, Tuxedo Black, the car is finished in clear coat. The vinyl top is new, I was able to clean and restore the original chrome quarter trim.

The numbers matching driveline has been rebuilt. The original 350 engine is now pushing a very impressive 290hp.  I replaced the original manual 3 speed for a new Muncie 4 speed. The original 10 bolt rear end was taken apart, sandblasted, rebuilt with an Eaton 3.55 posi unit.  During the build I installed a new set of multi leaf springs, shackle kit, shocks, and all new brakes, including hardware and drums.  The sub-frame was removed, broken down, sandblasted, painted and rebuilt with a new power front disc brake kit. I also installed a new fuel tank and sending unit, all new steel 3/8 fuel line, and front to back steel and rubber brake lines. I had the factory exhaust manifold ceramic coated, the finish will last a lifetime. The entire exhaust system is new from front to back, 2.5 in pipes with the "H" pipe crossover and 40 series Flowmaster mufflers.  Please see the attention to detail given to the under carriage of the car.

The interior is completely new. The seats, dash, headliner, and door panels, and carpet all new, I installed heat / sound shield under the carpet. The instrument cluster as been rebuilt, new bulbs, lens, and speedo cable. I installed new glove box insert, horn relay, dimmer switch, headlight switch, new gas, brake, and clutch peddle rubbers with chrome retainers. The peddle assembly has been sandblaster and I installed all new plastic bushings. All the glass in great condition, I installed a new front windshield. Please note the to detail given to the interior during the build.

All lights, gauges, horn, wipers and key buzzer work like new. All seals, window felts, trim, lenses, and bumpers are new, even the bumper brackets were sandblasted and painted. The wheels are COPO correct 14 x 7 painted steel wheels with dog dish hub caps and their sporting all new set of BF Goodrich 215/70/14 tires. The list of parts and labor are endless.

GM to invest $150 million in Flint to boost heavy-duty pickup production

Thu, Jun 13 2019

FLINT, Mich. — General Motors President Mark Reuss said on Wednesday that the automaker is investing about $150 million at its Flint Assembly plant in Michigan to boost production of heavy duty trucks by another 40,000 vehicles a year. Reuss announced the investment at the Flint truck assembly plant wearing a United Auto Workers pin. The Detroit automaker had announced back in February it was adding 1,000 jobs in Flint to build a new generation of heavy-duty pickup trucks. GM did not say that the latest investment would add more jobs at the plant, but Reuss said there could be opportunities to add workers as the launch of the automaker's new trucks progresses. GM has been under pressure from President Donald Trump and lawmakers of both parties to add jobs in the United States after it said last November it would idle the Chevy Cruze assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, and likewise had no new products for three other U.S. manufacturing plants. The Flint investment will include upgrades to the plant's conveyors and other new tooling, and will be completed in the first half of 2020. GM has invested more than $1.6 billion in the plant since 2013. Last month, GM said it would invest $24 million to increase truck production at its assembly plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana, which makes Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models. Sales of heavy-duty pickups in the United States have grown to more than 600,000 vehicles a year, up more than 20 percent since 2013, according to industry data. Prices for luxury models can easily top $70,000. GM's Chevrolet and GMC brands have long trailed Ford's F-series heavy duty trucks in the lucrative segment. The new Chevrolet and GMC heavy duty trucks have been re-engineered to tow heavier trailers, and keep pace in what has become an arms race among the Detroit Three automakers to claim superior torque and towing capability. General Motors CEO Provides Few Details In Appearance Before Congress

Wed, Apr 2 2014

It was only two months ago that Mary Barra, freshly crowned as the new General Motors chief executive officer, visited Washington DC as an esteemed guest of First Lady Michelle Obama for the State of the Union address. On Tuesday, Barra returned to the Capitol under more strained circumstances. For more than two contentious hours, she took questions from members of a House of Representatives subcommittee investigating General Motors years-long delay in initiating a recall of millions of vehicles that contained a defect that has killed at least 13 people. Why did GM accept faulty ignition switches that were below the company's set specfications? Why did GM learn about the problem in 2001 yet take no action until 2014? Will GM compensate victims' families even though the company's bankruptcy may limit its liability? Those were a few of the questions members of the House Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee asked. Few concrete answers were forthcoming. For her part, Barra sidestepped most of the questions, saying she wouldn't have information needed to answer them until an internal review is completed. David Friedman, the administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, testified after Barra. The biggest news that emerged from the hearing was that General Motors has retained attorney Kenneth Feinberg to advise the company on its civil and legal responsibilities. He has made a career of resolving disputes and serving in a 'fixer' role, serving as the chief of the federal government's September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, as an administrator of compensation fund for victims of the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster and a similar fund for victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Barra, who has been GM's CEO since January but been with the company since 1980, expects to meet with Feinberg on Friday, and have a concrete plan within the next 30-60 days. Yet Barra would not say for certain Tuesday that GM would compensate the victims at all. Despite repeated questions from Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), Barra did not outline the company's intentions. "I assume GM is hiring (Feinberg) to help identify the size of claims and then compensate the victims? Is that right," DeGette asked. "Is GM willing to put together some kind of a compensation fund for these victims that Mr. Feinberg will then administer?" "We've hired him to help assess the situation," Barra replied. "So really, there's no money involved at this point," DeGette asked.
