1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Base Hardtop 2-door 5.7l on 2040-cars
United States
1972 Chevy Monte Carlo Running and driving 1972 Monte Carlo. Has a built 5.7 Liter sbc 350 cid. Competition race cam, headers, edelbrock intake, 4 bbl carter carburetor, HEI Borg Warner distributor. New Radiator, water pump, fuel pump, fan belt, spark plugs/wires, torque convertor, and drive shaft. I feel like I’m forgetting a few things. Anyway, just changed oil, transmission oil, set advanced timing, and put in an under dash kill switch. Just had transmission rebuilt and shifts smooth and right on time. Also, installed new kickdown cable. Duel glass pack exhaust, sounds like a beast…if you don’t like your neighbors start when they’re sleeping. Factory options/features, A/C blows, Power Brakes (brakes are good, no problems stopping)front disc brakes, power steering (steers easy and straight, no alignment problems). All gauges work, (Fuel, temp, generator/alternator, brake). Clock doesn’t work. But, it does have a Sony X-Plod CD/WMA/MP3 player w/ remote that does have a clock. Accompanied by two 3-way Pioneer 6x9 speakers. Rally Wheels w/trim rings on all four, hankook white wall tires all the way around with around 90% tread life on them, and a full rally wheel spare in the trunk. Also has a shift kit installed. Also put in dual truck air horns, once again if you don’t like your neighbors sound the horn. The interior is in amazing shape all seats are in excellent condition, door panels are in excellent condition, head liner is perfect, floor boards are solid and carpet is in excellent condition. There is a crack on the dash driver side (pictured), and a small tear just under passenger side rear quarter glass (pictured). That is all. All glass is good no cracks, all windows work. The body is straight but there are just a few dings here and there absolutely nothing major at all, a little surface rust under rear windshield. If you know these cars you know most of them have had this at one point or another. Because of the design of car (pictured). It is where water and moisture collect because of shape of rear windshield, this is a California car, no snow, no salted roads, no rust anywhere else. Trunk floor is solid. Rockers solid. Quarters and fenders solid. It has a 20 foot paint job, meaning it looksgood from 20 feet. There are some chips here and there, but it still shows very well. This is a very clean and very cool1st generation Monte Carlo. It runs and drives and stops without a problem, it has never been chopped, cut , or lowered. There has been a lot of time money and effort put into this beauty, but it is still honest to coming off the line in 1972. It just needs someone to take it the last 5-10%. I also have it listed locally and may end auction early if sold. Clear title, up-to-date registration. Drive this car home if want. Please don’t make an offer if you aren’t really going to buy it, do your research on shipping costs to your location from Los Angeles, California. Happy bidding! |

Recharge Wrap-up: Indianapolis to switch 425 fleet vehicles to EVs, Chevy Corvette provides bat habitats
Tue, Nov 4 2014Indianapolis will deploy 425 battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles as part of its municipal fleet by 2016. The fleet will include such cars as the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt and Ford Fusion Energi. The city will also reduce its overall fleet by 100 vehicles. In all, the revised group - called the "Freedom Fleet" - will save $8.7 million and 2.2 million gallons of gasoline over 10 years. Read more at Hybrid Cars. EVs with longer range would make vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid energy management systems more practical for the US. The idea of using EVs as energy storage for emergencies or times of high grid demand is currently being tested in Japan with Nissan's Leaf-to-Home system. The US is also interested in such capabilities, but the higher average energy use of American households would make larger batteries in EVs ideal for grid storage applications. The factory, when constructed, will have a capacity of producing batteries for 100,000 cars per year according to the Korean company. The plant will supply batteries for Chinese automakers such as SAIC and Qoros. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2015 and LG Chem expects revenue of more than $933 million by 2020. Read more in the press release below. General Motors is using adhesive used in the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to create habitat for threatened bat species. Artificial bat caves could help alleviate white-nose fungus that leads to diminished bat populations. Leftover adhesive is used to create stalactites in the artificial caves, allowing them more structure to hang from. GM has also provided Volt battery covers to create nesting habitats for bats, which eat harmful insects and help pollinate plants. See the videos and read more in the press release below. 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 [w/videos]
Wed, Jan 7 2015I think I was supposed to be back hours ago. Driving northwest on State Road 190 with a final destination deep in the heart of the Death Valley National Park, it occurs to me that I might have agreed to return after an hour or so, instead of the four I'll end up stealing, solo, in the new Z06. Somewhere in the combination of mountain vistas, arching, speed-hungry desert roads, and the sound of this titanic engine on a constant run up the rev ladder, I forgot everything I'd promised back at home base. The generous, civilized part of me worries for a moment that absconding with the new-best Corvette might have left one of my fellow journalists without a car. But the selfish part of me – the part largely in control of the rocket-launcher of a throttle under my right foot – says "screw it." I spent two days with the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06, a monster of a sports car that will soon be dominating track days everywhere, and I never once was inclined to share it. Hurtling through the shattered stillness of the desert and pulling big Gs at Spring Mountain circuit, I never felt overly disposed to give up my seat. This Corvette, more than any I've yet driven, was deep enough to hold my attention; for two days, for two years, probably. With this Z06, the Corvette steps over the amazing-for-the-price category, and solidly into the best-cars-in-the-world zone. There are peripheral elements that remind me of its blue collar, Bowtie heritage, sure, but there's more that simply begs me to carry on driving... faster. Most casual car observers will be able to pick the 2015 Z06 out from its less aggressive Stingray brothers. Subtler hints include a new, more open grille, larger extractor on the taller hood and rather discreet badges on the flanks of the car. More outrageous is the finned spoiler on the rear trunk lid, and the widebody look offered from flared fenders – an extra 1.57 inches (40 millimeters) at their beefiest point. Even driving around performance-car-laden Pahrump, NV – loaded thanks to the very active community at the Spring Mountain racing resort – members of the local populace were turning heads, waving and generally noting the Z06 with approval when I drove through town. In Torch Red over black painted aluminum wheels, staggered at 19-inches in front and 20 at the back, the amped-up Z06 hits a new level of road presence for the C7.
