1963 chevrolet impala, texas car.when i bought this car it had been sitting for a while.my buddy josh[as seen on discovery channels texas car wars]and i took it apart and lovingly poured our hearts into this rebuild.it is not a frame off rebuild although i spent many hours under the car with a wire wheel and pressure washer getting every nook and cranny clean.i spayed it down with rust killer three different times and washed it time and time again.the main rust areas were at the truck lid reciever[near bumper] and cab at the rain gutters.here is where josh worked his magic.the parts we could buy,we did.the others were cut out and reproduced with a metal brake and some seriouse massaging.all those areas are rust free and coated professionally with the proper primer and paint.floor pans were not bad although we did do a few repairs. i primed the entire floor and then put in a sound deadning mat thruought the whole thing.i then installed the correct new black carpet and pad.the truck was treated to the same.i used the speckled trunk paint for that and even have the old school mat in there.josh went through the entire body.took it down to metal, repaired any sheet metal, primed and painted. in total there is not more than a half gallon of bondo on the car.in my opinion that is very good.im a stickler for doing it right and we did.as you can see the paint is awesome.ill bet there are at least 30-50 passes of varying lines, panels, lace, flake etc... on the top alone.ghost flames, pearl lines, lace panels, scallops thruought the rest of the car. i chose a factory color for the body as i feel it is important to be able to reproduce it if needed.lots of pearl!!!!
the motor is a very peppy 383 that i got from tough dawg motors.[the name is cheezy,i know]these guys can build a motor though. they claimed 450 hp.i was getting 400 when i had it dynoed.the guy told me w a different carb and bigger exhaust i could get to the 450. for me its plenty!i can probably find the build sheet if you get interested.what i will say is that its top notch.i payed nearly 4k for the motor alone.i have an edelbrock hi rise intake, edelbrock 700 cfm carb, borg and warner super t-10 4 speed tranny.pretty cool little custom piece i made is a motorcycle chain for a throttle linkage.aluminum radiator.it has never gotten hot on me and im not even running the shroud. originally i had a dual electric radiator fan but it didnt work as well as the set up i have now.heavy duty alternator.just put a new battery in it yesterday.slam specialties air bags, dual chrome compressors, dual tanks,3/8 valves on a smart manifold.one of the front lines leaks down very slowly[48 hrs]i have a decent sound system with an amp and has plenty of thump! there is very little the car needs to be complete.ive been rolling this car like this for five years and it is a head turner and panty dropper! seriously ,for a car that looks lowrider its super quick! super cool and plenty of street cred. any questions feel free to ask.i have countless hour in this car and quite a bit of money tied up in it as well. im trying to build a house and am selling a few things to be able to do so.i have a box of new weatherstripping, seat belts etc.. that go with it.its all yours if you buy it. this is not a bondo bucket or some sloppily built ride.its clean and correct, not completly done but correct. thanks for your interest, bill |

Do you guys like trucks?
Wed, Jan 17 2018Do you guys like trucks? If the answer is yes, boy do we have the show for you! The 2018 North American International Auto Show is lousy with 'em. Yeah, we saw the new Ram 1500, Chevy Silverado and Ford Ranger, but that's just scratching the surface. There are big trucks, little trucks, clean trucks, dirty trucks, old trucks, new trucks, red trucks, blue trucks. It's like a Dr. Seuss book. Anyway, we made a little video for you truck nuts (see what I did there?). Check it out above, and if you're looking for more serious coverage of the Detroit Auto Show, we've got it, along with a ton of images and other videos from the show floor. Enjoy! Chevy exec confirms SS production model reveal at Daytona on Feb 16
Wed, 06 Feb 2013The 2014 Chevrolet SS will make its racing debut for the 2013 Daytona 500, but the production version of the car will get its official unveiling on February 16 in Daytona, a week before The Great American Race. According to a report by Automotive News, the reveal has been confirmed by Jim Campbell, Chevy's US vice president of performance and motorsports. With the departure of the Dodge Charger, the new Chevrolet racecar will be the only competitor to feature a V8, rear-wheel-drive layout in both street and NASCAR form.
NASCAR fans will be able to see the new fullsize performance-oriented sedan on display in the festivities leading up to the Daytona 500, but the car won't go on sale until later in the year. The Australian-built Chevy SS will be a low-volume performance model, and it will be priced above the 2014 Impala, which starts at $27,535.
A Chevy Camaro hybrid? That's what EcoCAR3 could bring
Fri, Apr 10 2015Figuring out a way for a hybrid powertrain to co-exist with the performance expectations of a classic American muscle car is a challenge that could vex that most experienced of automotive engineers. It's a challenge, in fact, being handed to a bunch of college students. Over the next four years, students from 16 North American colleges and universities will attempt to wring fuel efficiency from a 2016 Chevy Camaro as part of EcoCAR3, an advanced-vehicle technology competition sponsored by the Department of Energy, General Motors and others. They'll be attempting to use hybrid or plug-in hybrid technology while not sacrificing the performance of the Camaro, which was selected in part because the current model achieves just 17 miles per gallon in city driving and 28 MPGs on the highway, per EPA numbers. Students will get the latest version of the vehicle to work on, one that is expected to be unveiled next month on Belle Isle in Detroit. "If we still want to produce V8 Camaros, we're going to have to look at alternative methods of propulsion," said Al Oppenheiser, the chief engineer on the Camaro. "So the ideas that these college teams come up with could very easily be adapted to a car like the Camaro." Unlike similar competitions that reward fuel efficiency in vehicles, EcoCAR seeks those gains while emphasizing cost and consumer acceptance of these vehicles. The cars shouldn't look like experiments; they should look like everyday vehicles on the road. Previous competitions have allowed the teams to use whatever powertrain they desired. This time, EcoCAR officials designed the competition to concentrate on hybrid, hybrid-electric and diesel options. Competitors won't have the option of using hydrogen fuel cells as they have in the past. Last year, a team from Colorado State built a vehicle that contained both hydrogen and electric power sources. This year's limit is a curious choice, as some automakers such as Toyota have placed heavy bets on fuel cells in recent years. General Motors also runs a fuel-cell program. With the focus on cost and practicality, however, the program officials wanted to narrow the framework of the contest. "We always have some good decisions on what to make within the scope or out of scope," said Jim Kolhoff, global director of software engineering for General Motors.
