CONTACT JEFF AT 570-977-0741.  Up for sale and your consideration is a nice 1963 Chevy Impala SS two door hardtop with a rare three speed column shift. Please take the time to look at all 24 photos that I have here on the auction. I have many more photos available should any prospective buyer request them. Just call and ask for them. This '63 Impala is a turn key driver, that is ready to drive home and enjoy immediately upon the day of purchase. If you are looking for a 100 point numbers matching Arizona car, this isn't it, nor is it priced as such. It is a typical northeast car with evidence of some rust issues that were addressed over the years. The only visible hole I could find is on the inside rocker panel on the driver's side. The color combination is a desirable black on black. There is a small dent on top of the left front fender from a tree branch. There is a paint blemish and crack at the top edge of the rear fender where the hardtop meets the fender. The interior was completely redone a few years ago, with new seat covers, door and kick panels, headliner and carpet, and presents very well. The headlights, parking lights, backup lights, and turn signals are all functional. Horn, radio gas gauge and heater all work. Wipers do not work. All glass is nice and windows operate well. A new gas tank has been installed. Weak original hood hinges were replaced with brand new units. Sway bar bushings were replaced with new units. The car has been just serviced with a fresh Castrol 10W-40 oil and Fram PH5 oil filter change, a new gas filter, a new PCV valve, new AC Delco spark plugs and a fresh air filter element. The engine is a 1975 Chevy 350 Casting # 3790010 from a Chevelle. Cylinder heads are high performance units Casting # 3890462 found on 1967 Corvette 350HP models and 1967 Camaro Z-28s. Intake is a cast iron unit Casting # 3799349 found on 1962-1964 passenger hi performance engines and Corvettes with the 300 HP engines. This Impala runs, drives, and stops great. It has nice sounding dual exhaust. The low rider look was achieved by heating of the coil springs by the previous owner. The tires have good tread on them and the chrome wheels with 3-spoke center caps are like new. Acutal mileage of this car is unknown. The title lists the mileage as 174,249. The speedometer shows 10,585. The condition of this car does not represent a high mileage vehicle. And there is no 6th digit on the speedometer. I would more sooner lead to believe that the car would have much lower mileage but again I have no proof of this. This car is currently PA inspected until 06/2014. I have the last inspection receipt in hand for this car showing mileage of 10,389. Prospective buyers who have any doubts about the condition of this car are welcomed and encouraged to view it in person, as it is being sold in AS-IS where is condition with no actual or implied warranty or guarantee.
Please check my 100% positive feedback and buy with confidence.  I have listed this vehicle honestly and accurately.  My description is based on a complete physical inspection, also servicing the car as well as driving it repeatedly. I have a clean Pennsylvania title in hand ready for transfer to the new owner.  The title will be and must be transferred to the new owners name by a licensed Pennsylvania notary official. This car is sold in AS-IS condition with no actual or implied warranty or guarantee. Payment for the car is as follows: An Ebay required non-refundable deposit will be paid by the buyer using either the buy it now option, or by the winning buyer at the end of the auction. The most preferred, encouraged and accepted method of payment is funds in hand and a local pickup of the car. Any other method of payment must be discussed with me first. Shipping of the car is the financial responsibility of the buyer. I will be happy to reasonably assist in the appointment set-up, pick-up and loading of the car. If any prospective buyer has any questions at all as to the condition or integrity of this car I again welcome and encourage the opportunity to show this car in person by appointment. My contact number is at the top and bottom of this ad to make it easy for any prospective buyer to reach me at. So lastly any question at all on this nice 63 SS Impala please don't hesitate to CONTACT JEFF AT 570 977 0741. Thanks and good luck !

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible

Wed, Aug 1 2018

The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else? Cadillac could base its entry-level sedan on the Chevy Cruze [UPDATE]

Wed, Apr 27 2016

UPDATE: Cadillac spokesperson Donny Nordlicht tells Autoblog , "The post speculating on a future Cadillac model derived from the Chevrolet Cruze is completely false." Premium automakers Mercedes-Benz and Audi have seen plenty of success with new small front-drive-based sedans. The CLA-Class had its best January ever this year, while Audi moved more of its new A3 in 2015 than its predecessor sold in 2005 through 2010 combined. The fact that Cadillac wants a piece of that pie is no surprise, then. There's a new rumor that GM's luxury brand could launch its own compact – possibly called CT2 – to battle the Germans. Cadillac, a brand that's pushed hard to rebuild its rear-drive reputation, could develop a new entry-level model based on the front-wheel-drive 2016 Chevrolet Cruze's D2XX platform. Go ahead and make your Cimarron jokes. Sources are telling GM Inside News that a Cadillac built on the Delta platform would ditch the Cruze's turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder for a 1.5-liter turbo in base models. General Motors' well received 2.0-liter turbo four would serve in higher-end models. According to GMIN, the Delta-based Cadillac would likely command a $6,000 to $9,000 premium over the Cruze, so figure $23,000 to $26,000 on the low end to $30,000 to $33,000 for something at the top of the range. As much as we dislike the kind of badge engineering that brought us the Cavalier-based Cadillac Cimarron in the '80s, the company has done an admirable job of distinguishing vehicles on shared platforms lately. A Delta-platform Cadillac would at least have a good basis – the new Cruze is surprisingly comfy. That said, we question GM's rationale if this rumor is indeed true. Put simply, Cadillac needs another sedan like I need another student loan payment. The company has four sedans, three of which overlap two segments, and none of which are selling very well. That's not because they're bad, but because customers want crossovers, of which Caddy has but one – the new XT5. Spending the time and money to add a fifth sedan to the mix when the company desperately needs to flesh out its CUV range would be a tremendous mistake. As much as we hate to say it, if Cadillac really wants to add a small, entry-level car to its range, it'd better be a crossover. Related Video:

GM executive chief EV engineer says reducing cost of plug-in vehicles is 'huge priority'

Mon, Mar 17 2014

As we know, another major automaker investing heavily in electrified vehicles is General Motors, and it's doing things much differently than rivals BMW, Ford or Nissan. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV is a modest seller at its $35,000 sticker price but a huge hit with owners. The Chevy Spark BEV, still in limited availability, puts smiley faces on its owners and drivers. The just-introduced Cadillac ELR, a sharp-looking, fun-driving $76,000 luxocoupe take on the Volt's EREV mechanicals, has admittedly low sales expectations. With this interesting trio in showrooms and much more in the works, the third vehicle electrification leader I collared for an interview at Detroit's North American International Auto Show (see #1 and #2) was Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer, Electrified Vehicles. ABG: Why do your EREVs need four-cylinder power to extend their range when BMW's i3 makes do with an optional 650 cc two-banger? "We designed [the Volt and the ELR] to go anywhere, any time" - Pam Fletcher PF: I get that question all the time: why not something smaller? You don't really need that much. You use the electric to its ability, then you just need to limp. But we designed those cars to go anywhere, any time, and we don't want their performance to be compromised. If you're driving through the mountains, we don't want you to be crawling up grades, or to be limited on any terrain. So it's optimized to be able to travel literally the biggest grades and mountain roads around the globe at posted speeds. Because what if you can't? Another good reason: when the engine is on, you have to run it wide open throttle, max speed, most of the time. And while we can do a lot with acoustics, and the ELR has active noise cancelation, a small-displacement, low cylinder-count engine at high speed, high load all the time isn't something you want to live with. That's how we came up with the balance we did among the key factors of performance, NVH [noise, vibration and harshness] and range. ABG: Where you go from here? Is the range-extender engine due for an update? PF: We know and love the current Volt, and there is still a lot of acclaim about it, so we think it's a good recipe. But we are heavily in the midst of engineering the next-generation car, which I think everyone will love and be excited about.
