I am relisting this car due to a local sale falling through.

This is a rare opportunity to own a very nice and solid, matching numbers 1963 Impala Sport Coupe SS with a 300HP Turbo Fire 327 (factory tach and double hump heads) and a 4 speed transmission. Based on the prior owner’s comments and condition of the car, I believe the car’s actual mileage to be 124,000, but can’t guarantee it.

The car starts, runs, shifts, drives and stops great. Car rides on almost new Firestone tires accented with its original SS wheel covers. Car has power brakes but no power steering or AC. We drove it almost 350 miles over Easter weekend with no issues whatsoever. Fly in and drive it home!

Originally from Texas, the car has been garage kept for most if not its entire life and it shows. Its been in Georgia and Alabama for the past 15-20 years. One single stage repaint 12-15 years ago back to original color (adobe beige) still looks very good with only a couple of blemishes and paint chips here and there. There is barely any rust anywhere on the entire car, with the possible exception of 2 or 3 small spots less than the size of a pencil eraser on left rear quarter, just above exhaust. This may be from the exhaust heat as the prior owner says they have been there and not grown for years.  Body is very straight and solid, as is undercarriage. Chrome, stainless steel and glass is all there and in great condition. I believe it is original.

Interior (cordovan brown) appears to be original and is in great condition with the exception of a little wear and tear on the driver’s seat and a place or two on the door panels. All gauges, knobs, wipers, heater, vents, etc. work properly except for clock and fuel gauge which won’t register above 1/2 tank. Radio is aftermarket with cassette player.

The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at any time. Buyer will be provided with a clear and open GA title.  $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. Balance should be paid within 3 days of auction end. Buyer should have car picked up within 10 days of auction end. I have 4 kids and I’d hate for one of them to scratch or damage the car while it sat here in the garage.

Please email any questions and I’ll be in touch ASAP. I have more pictures as well. If there is anything specific, please let me know and I’ll accommodate you as best as I can.

The Volt Dance had precedent; meet the Chevy Footlockers

Sun, Dec 14 2014

Marketing in the auto industry can get weird sometimes – really quite bizarre, in fact. For example, remember the Chevy Volt dance from the 2009 Los Angles Auto Show? If not, a group boogied to a song about the electric car, and it was every bit as awkward (and hilarious) as that sounds. In fact, that innocent bit of promotion lives in infamy, as some pundits grabbed hold of it during General Motors' bailout and asked why America's tax dollars were going to such things. The Chicago Auto Show has been digging through its vault of vintage videos, and it has come up with something that might actually be worse than that Volt-themed routine. They're called the Chevy Footlockers, and they're a dance troupe somehow promoting the Cavalier at the 1988 Chicago show. The connection between the car and their routine is unclear, but it's gloriously cheesy in a Chippendales-meets-AC Slater sort of way. Also, there are props towards the end, but we aren't going to spoil them for you, because you just have to watch for yourself. As a bonus, there's another (brief) clip below showing a female dance group with the Geo Tracker at the '91 Chicago show, and they sing, too. Scroll down to watch both of these oddities. GM recalls nearly 340,000 large SUVs to fix daytime running lights

Thu, Nov 10 2022

General Motors has initiated a recall campaign for more than 338,000 of its large SUVs to address a potential defect in the onboard computer software that controls the daytime running lights. In some cases, the DRLs may remain on even when the headlights are enabled, which creates additional glare for oncoming drivers at night and fails to comply with federal regulations for headlight performance.  "GM determined that the body control module (BCM) software in these vehicles, under a combination of certain pre-conditions, may fail to deactivate the DRLs when the headlamps are on," GM's recall report said. "A regulatory assessment was conducted to evaluate whether the condition presented a potential noncompliance with the DRL activation requirements in S7.10.5, Table I-a. of FMVSS 108. On October 27, 2022, GM’s Safety Field Action Decision Authority (SFADA) decided to conduct a recall for potential noncompliance with this standard." GM says the recall covers the 2021 model year GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV. The company says all models produced within that operating window include the improperly programmed body control module, meaning all vehicles within the recall population may exhibit the problem. The issue was discovered by a GM engineer during validation testing in August, prompting a deeper investigation and eventually leading to the recall itself.   The module's software can be updated by GM dealers, so it should be a quick fix for customers. Notifications will be mailed to owners in December.  Related video: Recalls Cadillac Chevrolet GMC Ownership Safety SUV Luxury
