Chevrolet Mark Iii High Top Conversion Van - 60k Miles on 2040-cars
Norfolk, Virginia, United States
1995 Chevy G20 High top conversion van Sixty thousand original miles! New Virginia inspection This van is loaded! 5.7L V-8, Automatic transmission, Separate front and rear A/C systems, Power windows, locks, mirrors, ABS brakes, extended headroom, TV, separate VCR, four leather captains chairs, and a power rear bench seat that folds to a full size bed with the touch of a button. CONDITION This van is in excellent overall condition with very few minor problems. The body is straight, with very few, if any dents. The paint is still glossy. The pinstriping is beginning to peel in some places. There is rust on the gutter at the top of the front window. It does NOT extend below the level of the lip of the gutter, and there are NO leaks. There is no tow hitch. The glass is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. The windows all open as they should, and the three large custom windows all have screens. The shades on all windows are in excellent condition, and operate correctly. The interior of this van is in excellent condition, with minor sun fading on the drivers seat bottom, the wood on the center console, and a small area of carpet just inside the side doors. The leather upholstery on the four captain's chairs and power folding bed/bench seat is in excellent condition, all of the leather is still supple, and there are no cracks, rips, tears, or major stains. The rear bench seat works as it should. The stereo is in good condition, and all of the speakers work. The TV and VCR both work, as do all of the different lights, both in the ceiling and on the floor. The VCR can easily be replaced with an X-box or other game system. Both air conditioning systems work, but only blow warm air. I have not had this checked. The fuel gauge reads full all the time. I believe a new sending unit is needed. The motor starts easily and runs smooth. The exhaust was replaced several years ago, and has a nice rumble. The motor just received new plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, PCV valve, air filter, fuel filter, oil and filter. The van was given an alignment, and four new KYB shock absorbers and a pitman arm were replaced . The transmission shifts as it should, with no problems observed. The van has new front brake pads and new brake fluid throughout. The rear pads were checked as part of Virginia's stringent annual State inspection. The state inspection tests lights, wipers, brakes, exhaust, suspension, bearings, and more. This van passed inspection in July. The Battery is also new as of June. This van is in very good, original condition, with very few miles. It runs strong, and is ready to go wherever you want to go. This van was purchased from the original owners estate in June. When I took possession, it had a 2009 inspection, and was under a carport. The van came with fender flares and side skirts. The paint is peeling from the skirts, so the flares and skirts were removed and saved, along with all of the fasteners, and will be part of this auction. Ask any questions before you bid. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time, as the van is for sale locally. If you wish to view the van, please email me to set a time. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will meet your trucker within reason.$500 deposit due at auctions end, balance due within 7 days, preferably by wire transfer, but will accommodate to a point (No Nigerian checks). If you wish to fly in and drive home, I am 10 minutes from Norfolk Int'l Airport, and will pick you up. |

Weekly Recap: Racing legend Jim Hall explains Chevy's futuristic Chaparral concept
Sat, Nov 22 2014"I said our cars are built to be winners." – Jim Hall Racing legend Jim Hall never thought he'd be a video game consultant, but when Chevrolet asked for his advice to create a futuristic Chaparral for the Vision Gran Turismo series, he was eager to help. He reviewed early sketches and suggested some changes that made it onto the concept, including the addition of a camera that's mounted onto a mast over the cabin to aid the driver. The Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept was revealed this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show and will be part of a downloadable update for PlayStation 3's Gran Turismo 6 in December. Theoretically, at least, it uses a laser-beam propulsion system and an air-powered generator to produce 900 horsepower in the video game. It's capable of sprinting to 60 miles per hour in 1.5 seconds en route to a top speed of 240 mph. Those gaudy performance specs – even in the virtual world – came at Hall's urging. "I said our cars are built to be winners," Hall told Autoblog on the floor of the Los Angeles show. The 79-year-old drove Lotus racecars in Formula One before launching the successful Chaparral Cars in the 1960s. Like his innovative Can-Am racers, the Vision Gran Turismo project has an eye toward the future. It also introduces the iconic Chaparral name to a new generation of fans, and hopefully, Hall says, gets them excited about engineering and design. "It emulates what we did in the '60s," he said. And what they did back then still resonates. Chaparral Racing and Chevy partnered more than 45 years ago for development work on the composite monocoque chassis, lightweight alloy powertrains, automatic gearboxes and active aerodynamics. "He [Hall] walked right back into this and was able to apply thinkings and learnings," said Clay Dean, General Motors executive director of advanced design. The Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept was created at GM's North Hollywood advanced design studio, and it will be on display at the show through November. Next-gen Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra may use carbon fiber
Thu, Dec 7 2017It's been generally accepted that the next generation of full-size GM trucks will use some sort of strong, lightweight material for the beds while retaining steel for the cab. While aluminum seems like the most obvious choice, according to Automotive News, the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra will incorporate both aluminum and carbon fiber in their beds. The publication cites sources from within GM, though it seems the introduction of this comparatively exotic material mix is still a few years off. While carbon fiber is both stronger and lighter than steel and aluminum, it takes significantly more time and money to produce, essentially relegating the material to small-volume cars. The main benefit for trucks is the resulting reduction in weight to improve fuel economy without sacrificing the tough, rugged capabilities truck buyers expect. The Ford F-150 made the switch to aluminum for the 2015 model year and it's proved highly successful. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before the competition followed suit. Automotive News says that the next-gen trucks will launch with aluminum beds and that it will take a couple of years before we'll see any carbon fiber incorporated into the design. Even then, only look for the composite material on higher-trim models, with a trickle down to lower-spec trucks possible further in the future. In 2011, GM announced it was working with Japan-based Teijin Limited on a carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic. There's a good chance that material's introduction will be on trucks. Cadillac Celestiq, Lyriq, Hummer, other future GM electric cars: Here's everything we saw at ‘EV Day’
Wed, Mar 4 2020WARREN, Mich. — Today, General Motors held an “EV Day” event at its Warren, Michigan, campus to present its new “Ultium” battery technology, modular electric vehicle architecture and soon-to-come electric vehicles. Unfortunately, we were forbidden from bringing cameras into the event, so while we canÂ’t show you what we saw, we can tell you more about it. While we saw the previously teased Cadillac EV (which we now know to be called the Lyriq) and the GMC Hummer pickup teased during the Super Bowl, there were a number of other future cars at the event, which GM President Mark Reuss assured us are all real vehicles in the works. The biggest surprise came at the end of the event, though, in the Cadillac Celestiq electric sedan, which Reuss described as a future flagship that would be hand-built “very locally.” It had been hiding under a dark sheet all morning, with the front and rear illuminated Cadillac emblems shining from underneath. When the wraps came off, we saw a long, white, four-seat fastback sedan. The 23-inch wheels were pushed out to the very corners of the car, giving it what appeared to be a very long wheelbase. The model on the stage had no side mirrors or visible door handles. The grille mirrored that of the Lyriq crossover next to it, with integrated lighting in lieu of the usual mesh or slats youÂ’d see in an internal combustion car. The entire roof, all the way until it tapered to the tail of the vehicle, was tinted glass. In back, vertical tail lighting ran down the C-pillar before turning rearward across the top of the trunk. Inside, everything below the beltline of the windows — essentially all but the headrests and top portion of the steering wheel, was hidden from view. Behind the Celestiq, a large digital display showed a rendering of its interior. The dash consists of a pillar-to-pillar curved LED display serving as both instrument panel and infotainment system. Protruding forward between the front seats was another touchscreen that appeared to house some more controls, with open area, probably for storage, below it. The rear seats had the same sort of touchscreen between them. Built into the back of the front seats were a pair of rear-seat entertainment screens, much like we saw in the Lyriq. The door panels blended wood, metal and animated lighting to give character and a sense of opulence. GM interior design manager Tristan Murphy was on hand to tell us a bit more about the Celestiq.
