1996 Chevrolet Express van, 1500 series. 86,233 original miles. White paint with no rust. A couple of dings on the body just like you would expect from a 1996 vehicle.

E Z Ride custom conversion. Hi top, with extra high electric doors and Braun Millenium wheelchair lift with remote controls. An EZ lock wheelchair dock and seat belts make loading very simple. Back wheelchair into dock until it locks and fasten seat belts. Van is not presently equipped for the handicapped driver and since being equipped with lift has always been driven by an able bodied person.
Carpet has some stains on it from coffee or soda, but no offensive smells.

Van was purchased for my father and converted to handicapped in 2007. The conversion equipment and installation was almost $10,000.00. This van saw less than 10,000 miles of driving since then, mostly to doctors appointments and to go out for lunch/dinner. It did make a trip to Kentucky and another to Pennsylvania where it performed reliably and without incident.
I have been reluctant to sell it but now I hope someone who needs it can see the value in this sale.
After sitting for nine months, I started and drove it last week when I found that it won't shift into third gear and the radiator sprung a leak. I installed a new Spectra radiator and new Dex cool antifreeze which fixed the leak, but have not determined the transmission issue. Transmission works in first and second gear as well as reverse. A/C blows cold both front and rear units. Picture windows have working pull down shades. AM/FM w/cassette, power windows, power mirrors. Bench seat in rear is electric and folds down to a bed.  Tires have good tread left on them.

I am also offering this for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I am not putting a reserve price on the van but would like to see $2500.00. Even if a replacement transmission or repair was $2000, the whole package is still a bargain.

No warranty. Buyer responsible for pick up or delivery. 50% of winning bid upon completion of auction, balance within 7 days and before pick up/delivery.

GM will recall 3.5 million pickups and SUVs to fix brake issue

Wed, Sep 11 2019

WASHINGTON — General Motors Co is recalling 3.46 million U.S. pickup trucks and SUVs to address a vacuum pump issue that could make braking more difficult and increase the risk of a crash. The recall, which covers 2014-2018 model year vehicles, including some Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon vehicles, was triggered because the amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time, GM told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in documents posted Wednesday. NHTSA opened a preliminary investigation into the issue in November 2018, and said it had reports of 9 crashes and two injuries related to the issue. It provided GM in July with additional field reports that prompted the automaker to open an investigation. The company did not immediately say on Wednesday how many injuries or crashes are linked to the issue but said it could impact braking in "rare circumstances." GM said dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module with a new calibration that will improve how the system utilizes the hydraulic brake boost assist function when vacuum assist is depleted. GM said the vacuum assist pump, which is lubricated with engine oil that flows into the pump through a filter screen, can in some cases lose effectiveness over time, as debris such as oil sludge can accumulate on the filter screen. GM told NHTSA that prior model years used a different brake assist system design, and vehicles manufactured after 2018 were not equipped with the affected pump design. Recalls Chevrolet GM GMC

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible

Wed, Aug 1 2018

The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else?
