1987 Chevrolet El Camino Pickup 5.0l W/29,000 Miles on 2040-cars
Buffalo, New York, United States
As far as I know, I'm the 2nd owner of this All Original last-year made 1987 Chevrolet El Camino. I bought it last month in South Carolina to haul my Harley Fat-Boy Motorcycle from Florida to New York; but cycle is too big to fit in truck. I didn't want to cause damage to El Camino (or Harley) so I left cycle in Florida and decided I must sell this great running all original El Camino Truck w/29,000 miles - - - - - - - - - - my loss = your gain. As of 3/28/14 the air conditioner needs charge and head-liner needs repair. This truck has new tires, original interior, rides good, is tight, cruises straight at 65MPH on Interstate #95 and gets approximately 20 miles/gallon on gas! Has new Air Shocks. Presently has clear South Carolina Title - is being transferred from Dealer (I bought from) to my Montana LLC. Vehicle was the hit in Key West at Southern Most Classic Car Show recently. It is now garaged in Buffalo, New York - drive it anywhere, runs great - may help drive/ship to it you! PS: I'm having trouble loading photo's from my cell to eBay site. Send me cell # to send photo's cell to cell. |

GM, UAW poaching Nissan workers in Tennessee
Tue, Sep 8 2015General Motors and the United Auto Workers are going on a recruitment drive at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee, and they're hoping to poach some skilled workers from Nissan's nearby plant in Smyrna, TN. The General and the union even bought a billboard advertising for industrial electricians near the Japanese automaker's facility, according to the Daily News Journal. The reason for the billboard was simple. "GM was short of electricians," said Tim Stannard, the president of the UAW local at Spring Hill, to the Daily News Journal. The factory currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox but has a contract to assemble the next generation of Ecotec engines and the Cadillac XT5, which replaces the SRX. Thanks to the $185-million deal, employment there is expected to double by May 2016, according to Stannard, with roughly 1,800 additional union jobs. Beyond just several billboards, GM has job postings online for the Spring Hill plant looking for workers with specific skills. There has already been some interest in the positions among Nissan employees, Stannard indicated. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, the average GM worker currently makes $58 an hour, including benefits. Comparatively, Nissan pays an average of $42 an hour with benefits. The General's number could change in the coming weeks because its contract with the UAW is about to expire, and higher wages are among the major negotiating points.
Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head
Mon, Dec 29 2014Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?
Thu, Jun 23 2016The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose!
