This 1979 El Camino SS, VIN# 1W80L9R425625 was purchased in 1980 by my dad from the original owner when the vehicle had about 12,000 miles. It has been owned by my dad and/or me since 1980. The car has been repainted black cherry color several years ago. It was originally a Black SS Royal Knight with decals etc. This car has matching numbers with the original engine and transmission. It has a newer cam, timing chain, water pump, radiator, fuel pump and rebuilt transmission. It runs very good and the miles are original. I have most or all of the original engine and other parts such as intake, exhaust manifolds, carburetor, ac compressor etc. and they will be shipped with the car. It currently has headers, aluminum intake, holley carburetor, factory replaced air shocks and dual exhaust with no catalytic converters etc it sounds good. The factory AC and cruise control are not currently hooked up. Paint and interior are in very good condition. The bucket seats are the original vinyl still. The paint has a few scratches and door dings but overall it is shiny and very good. Bed and floor pans are solid, no visible rust on exterior. The car runs and drives very well, engine has a couple of small oil leaks and will need a heater core replaced if using in the winter. This has the 350 V8 original engine with 4 barrel carburetor and TH350 automatic transmission. Power Steering, Tilt Wheel. Dash has a couple of cracks. This is a great SS Royal Knight, top of the line El Camino from 1979. Collectible. This vehicle has been in a garage or inside storage most of its entire life. I have the original side rails for the bed. Tires are pretty wide and very good with chrome 15" rims and look good on the vehicle.

2016 Chevrolet Spark lights up New York

The little Spark has been somewhat of a surprising entry in the modern Chevy lineup in the US. Given its diminutive stature, you might have expected the slightly larger Sonic to cannibalize the tiny sibling's sales, but that hasn't happened. The Bowtie moved 39,159 Sparks in the US in 2014, a 14.7 percent boost from the previous year. Now at the 2015 New York Auto Show, the latest generation is being unveiled with a new engine and much improved styling. Replacing the current 1.2-liter four-cylinder is an all-aluminum 1.4-liter unit making 98 horsepower. That still doesn't sound like much, but it's 16 percent more than the 2015 Spark. The new mill can be connected to either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission with which Chevy estimates 40 miles per gallon highway fuel economy. The 2016 Spark also gets a longer wheelbase and 1.6-inch lower overall height. Combined with more elliptical headlights at the front, the changes make for a somewhat more sleek appearance than the current, boxy model. The platform underneath is more rigid as well, and Chevy claims the latest underpinnings mean better handling and lower NHV levels inside. The little hatch isn't growing up too much, though, and gets a trio of new colors that sound like jellybean flavors: Toasted Marshmallow, Kalamata and Splash. Chevy is packing the interior with better quality materials and improved tech. Chevy's latest seven-inch MyLink system sits in the center stack with a capacitive touchscreen, and it now comes with a physical volume control and other buttons for easier use. All models also get a rearview camera, and a LCD instrument cluster remains in front of the driver. The available suite of safety systems includes Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Side Blind Spot Alert. The 2016 Spark goes on sale in the US in the fourth quarter of 2015 and is produced in South Korea. Expect a gallery showing off all its new styling from the New York show floor soon.

Engine block heater issues force GM to recall 324,226 diesel heavy duty trucks

General Motors has issued a recall on 324,226 diesel heavy duty trucks that could be susceptible to short circuits, and consequently, potential fire. The recall affects several models of heavy duty Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras with optional engine block heaters. GM is recalling seven different truck models spread across three years. The recall affects the 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, 2017-2019 Silverado 3500HD, 2019 Silverado 4500HD, 2019 Silverado 5500HD, and 2019 Silverado 6500HD, plus the 2017-2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 2017-2019 Sierra 3500HD. Specifically, it includes these models with the 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engines and the optional engine block heater. The recall technically deals not with the engine block heater itself, but the way it is connected. According to NHTSA campaign No. 19V328000, the engine block heater cord or the terminals that link the cord to the heater could short circuit. A short circuit could potentially damage engine components and result in a fire. According to The Detroit News, 19 fires have been reported but nobody has been injured. GM has yet to figure out a fix, and thus has not yet released a notification schedule for affected customers. General Motors has released a new short video featuring Kirk Bennion of the Corvette's exterior design team, talking about the challenges of sculpting Chevrolet's new flagship sports car and the five goals the team had to keep in mind as it worked. In the end, Bennion's team had the pleasure of seeing their hard work take center stage as the Corvette captured the world's eyes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
