1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS 454 History Chevrolet El Camino was a coupe utility vehicle produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors between 1959 and 1987. Introduced in the 1959–1960 model years in response to the success of the Ford Ranchero, its first run lasted only one year. Production resumed for the 1964–1977 model years based on the Chevelle platform, and continued for the 1978–1987 model years based on the Malibu. Although based on corresponding Chevrolet car lines, the vehicle is classified and titled in North America as a truck. GMC's badge engineered El Camino variant, the Sprint, was introduced for the 1971 model year. Renamed Caballero in 1978, it was also produced through the 1987 model year. In Spanish, El Camino means "the road". VIN 136800K103203 This 1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS was found and purchased through J.J. Best in June 2002. It was represented as a True SS Big Block, 4 Speed, A/C car that had been 90% restored. I was told the LS-5 is an original motor that has been rebuilt, but not the original from the vehicle. Not known if the 4 Speed M21 is the original from the vehicle. The A/C has no compressor so it is not functioning. For the past 11+ years this car has always been garaged & never been driven in the rain. I am selling for personal reasons/troubles & would like the car to go to someone who can enjoy it more often than I have been able to. This is a good driver quality car that draws a lot of compliments/attention everywhere it goes. Below is a list of things I know/was told about the vehicle. *1970 El Camino SS 454 (True SS car) *92,527 miles *454 LS-5 Engine (Rebuilt, An Original LS-5 but not The Original) *Muncie 4 Speed M21 Transmission w/ Hurst Shifter *12 Bolt Posi 4:10 Rear End *Power Steering *Power Brakes - Front Disc *Cowl Induction Hood w/Flapper(Not Functioning) *A/C Car(Needs Compressor) *Power Windows *Bucket Seats(Need Seatbelts) *New Battery *Budnik Mercury Five Wheels 17"x8" Front, 17"x9.5" Rear Purchased Through and Professionally Installed by Discount Tire in Austin, Texas *Sony CD Player, Amp. & Speakers Professionally Installed by Custom Sounds in Austin,Texas *Flowmaster 3" Exhaust Professionally Built by Muffin Mufflers in Austin,Texas *Comes w/14"x7" Original SS Wheels w/Cooper Cobra Tires in Good Condition Low Mile Tires* *Comes w/ NEW Doug Thorley Long Tube Headers Never Installed ***12+ Year Old Partial Restoration *Tachometer, Temperature Gauge, Power Windows, Small Window Cranks, Heater, Blinkers, Headlights, Dash Lights All Are Working/Functioning, Dash & Dash Pad in Great Condition, Headliner & Sun Visors in Good Condition some fading, Carpet in Good Condition, Driver Door Panel in Great Condition, Passenger Door Panel in Fair Condition as it is separating at the bottom front, Seat Backs in Good Condition some fading, Front Bumper in Great Condition, Chrome Trim in Good Condition, Bed In Great Condition, Frame & Undercarriage in Good Condition, Driver Quality Paint, all Glass in Good Condition. ***Emergency brake, reverse lights, horn, license plate light, speedometer, fuel gauge, volts gauge, air conditioner, interior over-head light are not working/functioning, windshield wipers function, but don't shut off in cab so I have unhooked a wire under the hood, missing front lower windshield trim & front bed trim (beneath rear window), driver seat needs redone, needs seat belts, passenger kick panel has small crack, panel under steering wheel missing, rear bumper has a few dings, driver door has a small dent, lower inside tailgate has small bubbling area, imperfection in paint throughout ***Has Royal Purple Motor Oil, Royal Purple Transmission & rear end fluids, but all fluids should be changed, a tune up would be beneficial also. This vehicle runs and drives good and sounds great! It will pin you back in your seat in any gear and any RPM!! Has wheel hop issues in 1st & 2nd due to the power & gearing, but can easily be managed. I have the described the vehicle as best I can. The vehicle is sold as is, with no warranty. Winner is responsible for pick up/shipping of the vehicle. Thank you for looking and good Luck in bidding!

GMC Envoy could be returning as GM files for 'Envoy' trademark

Thu, Dec 27 2018

The GMC Envoy could be on its way back, if a recent GM trademark filing is any indication of the future. To be exact, GM's trademark filing is for the name "Envoy," and is applicable to "motor vehicles, namely, sport utility vehicles, engines therefor and structural parts thereof." A victim of the recession and high gas prices, the original Envoy – related to the Blazer, and more recently the TrailBlazer and similar GM SUVs – was discontinued after the 2009 model year. In today's SUV-happy market of low gas prices, unearthing the somewhat familiar Envoy name makes a certain amount of sense. As soon as gas prices start trending in the other direction, we'll all be saying the opposite, though. What this SUV will take shape as is the big question now. With the Chevrolet Blazer well and truly on its way, there's every reason for a GMC version of Chevy's stylish new crossover sporting the Envoy name. Another, less likely, possibility is a Traverse-sized vehicle to slot between the shorter Acadia (10 inches shorter than the Chevy Traverse) and the body-on-frame Yukon. GM could come out of left field and make the Envoy a Buick too. It fits the bill with the "En" beginning, and Buick undoubtedly has crossovers in the works. We think that's even more unlikely, but it's important to remember that we're still in the speculation phase. Soon we'll drive Chevy's new Blazer, and perhaps have more news then. Check in next week for that. Related video:

2015 Chevrolet Silverado Custom glitzes up volume model [UPDATE]

Thu, Feb 12 2015

UPDATE: The original prices listed in Chevrolet's press release did include destination charging, despite not being specifically called out as such. We've edited the story to reflect this. The Chicago Auto Show's reputation as the home of special edition debuts grows stronger today, as Chevrolet is complementing the news that it'd unveil the Silverado Midnight Edtion and Colorado GearOn special editions in the Windy City with the debut of the Silverado Custom. And yes, it's different than the higher-spec Custom Sport that debuted just last month in Detroit. What's so custom about the Silverado Custom, you ask? Well, not a whole lot. The new truck is based on the popular Silverado LS Double Cab, and adds, among its most noteworthy features, a set of 20-inch, five-spoke wheels. From there, chrome is the order of the day, with shinier front and rear bumpers, mirror caps and door handles. The top portion of the front bumper, which is finished in black plastic on the standard LS, is matched to the body color on the Custom model. Standard LS interior features, like the 4.2-inch MyLink system with 4G LTE wireless internet, 40/20/40 cloth front seats, remain in place on the Custom, while it's a similar story with the powertrain. Choices below the sheetmetal will force buyers to choose between a 5.3-liter V8 or a standard 4.3-liter V6, and two- or four-wheel drive. Chevy is pricing a V8-equipped Silverado Custom 4x2 at $33,820 (including $1,195 in destination charges). Adding four-wheel drive brings the price up at $37,800, although as we said, selecting the 4.3-liter V6 will yield a more affordable Custom. Check out the full press release on the newest member of the Silverado clan, available below. 2015 Silverado Custom: Back to Basics, with Style $33,820 starting price for a well-equipped double-cab V-8 CHICAGO – Chevrolet takes aim at the heart of the pickup market with the Silverado Custom, which offers Chevy Truck capability and dependability in a stylish package, priced within reach of many truck customers. "The economic recovery has led to booming sales of high-end pickups like the Silverado High Country," said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevy Trucks. "But there are also millions of customers in the heart of the market who want a great looking, well-equipped truck at an affordable price.

2016 Chevy Malibu gets premium looks, hybrid model

Wed, Apr 1 2015

The Chevrolet Malibu was once an automotive icon, but its modern reputation is one for underachievement. A new 2016 model seeks to restore the storied nameplate with improved styling, more interior room and a new hybrid version. It debuts Wednesday at the New York Auto Show. Put simply, "the goal was to put Chevrolet back in the midsize car segment," said John Cafaro, the brand's executive director of car design. In a crowded arena with 2.2 million sales up for grabs annually, Chevy has not been a player. Last year, the brand sold 188,519 Malibus, a six-percent decline from 2013, and fewer than half the number of Toyota Camrys and Honda Accords sold. Despite awards from J.D. Power and Associates and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Chevy knew the Malibu needed a big change. New Skin, Lighter Bones The redesign has been in the works for at least three years. Although the Malibu is still based on GM's Epsilon 2 platform, the underpinnings are more derivative of the Impala than the outgoing model. The body structure makes greater use of high-strength steel, which helps reduce weight by 300 pounds. Size is more Impala-like as well, with 2.3 inches more overall length and a 3.6-inch wheelbase stretch contributing to greater interior space. A new skin covers the Malibu's lighter bones, and design language from the Impala gives its sibling sedan a fresher, more upscale appearance. To execute this premium appearance, Chevy turned to 25-year-old designer Jaymer Starbody, a four-year General Motors veteran and graduate from Detroit's College for Creative Studies. He described the new Malibu as having a "wheel-oriented" design, and the car looks poised to pounce from certain angles. Though the 2016 Malibu is the same width as before, designers stretched the creases and angles in the sheetmetal to create a flatter, sleeker appearance. The hood and cowl are lower, and the Malibu's face sparkles with LED running lamps on the top trim levels. Inside, the roomier cabin has a new center stack, satin chrome accents on the interior panel and a console storage area designed for mobile devices. Chevy MyLink with a seven-inch color touchscreen is standard on lower trims, and the top model upgrades to an eight-inch screen. Perforated leather seats and ambient lighting are also available options. The cabin was designed to look high-tech, but still remain easy to use, according to Chevy interior design director Crystal Windham.
