1959 Chevrolet El Camino White on 2040-cars
Eureka, California, United States
Feel free to ask me any questions about the car : perlahorwood@net-c.pl .
Up for sale is a bitchin 59 El Camino – one of a kind. This car has just undergone a 3 year nut and bolt
restoration with tons of time and money invested. There are not a whole lot of 59 El Caminos out there like this
one. If you are in the market for a good example, you need to consider this car. Look at the 24 pics, you will see
that this isn't your average restored 59.
This car was built with long term investment in mind. Nothing has been altered to permanently affect the cars
integrity or originality. Nothing was cut or welded. The car could easily be put back to stock later on down the
road if someone wanted to do so.
This is a very thorough build with everything new, rebuilt, replaced, or restored. Every single clip, screw,
bearing, seal, nut and bolt has been gone through on this car. It was done right and it shows.
The underside of the car was completely detailed and looks great. The frame was striped and painted semi-gloss
black. The floors were coated in 3m Shutz coating. This is a very fine textured coating that holds up very well.
All the suspension and front end parts were either powder coated or shot in base clear.
The car was in Arizona, where it had been most of its life. This was a super solid car to start with and was one
of the best unrestored El Caminos I had ever seen.
These are not easy or cheap cars to restore to this level. They don’t reproduce a lot for them and parts can be
tough to find. There are a ton of man hours into this build.
The paint on the car was professionally done and looks great! It is very slick and has been color sanded and
buffed to a glass finish. All DuPont materials were used. It’s done in a 2014 Corvette red.
Every piece of stainless, aluminum, or chrome was refinished. The one piece bumpers have been replated.
The inside of the bed is beautiful. Lots and Lots of hours went into just the bed alone.
The entire engine compartment was finished with great detail. The firewall is painted body color, as is the
underside of the hood. As you can see everything was painted apart. No painted-over bolt heads, all hardware is
either new or blasted and re-coated original. Lots of time and money spent getting the engine compartment to look
as good as it does.
Everything under the hood is brand new. The motor is a rebuilt 327 that runs very smooth. It has a polished Demon
Carb, billet HEI distributor; Billet Specialties streamline valve covers and air cleaner that were shot in red.
Stainless headers, polished intake, pulleys, wire looms and more. All hoses, wires, and anything else that could
be replaced was.
The tranny is a Muncie 4 speed that shifts nice and functions as it should.

Nissan Leaf hits 3,000 sales in July, Chevy Volt climbs over 2,000
Fri, Aug 1 2014It was a good sales month for both the Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Volt, with the two 'elder statesman' plug-in vehicles reaching numerical milestones in July. The Leaf sold 3,019 units and the Volt crossed the 2,000 sales level for the first time in 2014, hitting 2,020 sales. With Tesla also announcing it is delivering around 2,500 Model S EVs a month (but that's globally, compared to the US-only numbers for the Volt and Leaf we're talking about here) and Ford's plug-in vehicles selling well, we are certainly in a golden moment for EV sales. The Volt was a bright spot for the Bowtie brand last month. For the Volt, the 2,020 units sold represents a 13 percent increase from July of 2013 even thought year-to-date sales are down 8.7 percent this year compared to last year. Overall, total Chevrolet deliveries for July 2014 were up eight percent compared to 2013, so the Volt was a bright spot for the Bowtie brand last month. On the Leaf front, this is only the second time that the EV has sold more than 3,000 units in a month (the other being in May of this year). The year-over-year increase for the Leaf was 62 percent in July and represents the 17th straight month of record sales, as Nissan is more than happy to report each month. Overall, Leaf sales are up 34.6 percent, year-to-date, and Nissan's director of Leaf sales and infrastructure, Brendan Jones, said in a statement that a free public charging incentive was responsible. "Since we launched the No Charge to Charge promotion in the first 10 markets, we've seen a surge in Leaf sales in those areas. Leaf sales in the northeastern US are also picking up with new tax incentives for Massachusetts and Maryland residents." With No Charge To Charge set to expand to 25 markets over the next year, we expect Leaf sales to continue to grow. We will have our monthly look at all green car sales available soon, so stay tuned. GM profits threatened by glut of pickups
Wed, 05 Dec 2012Automotive News reports that General Motors may slash production or ramp up discounts in order to deal with an oversupply of pickup trucks. GM currently has more than double the standard supply of pickups, and the vehicles are threatening to dampen the automaker's profits for 2013. Typically, automakers try to sustain a 60- to 75-day supply of vehicles, but GM is currently loaded with a 139-day supply, as of last month. At the end of November, the automaker was sitting on 245,853 units.
The manufacturer says that it will adjust production accordingly before laying any incentives on the profitable pickups. Even so, there's some concern that the inventory swell could hurt the roll-out of the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM actually began slowly stepping back production in August, but it's clear the company will take further action as it heads toward the end of the year and into the next. Analysts predict the automaker could reduce pickup manufacturing by nearly half in the first quarter of 2013.
That still may not be enough to keep GM from laying extra cash on the Silverado and GMC Sierra. While the company's incentive spending was down in November compared to the same month in 2011, both the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 saw double-digit percentage increases in sales last month while the Silverado and Sierra numbers slid compared to a year prior. Incentive spending could help move more trucks and add some balance to the GM inventory surge.
Chevy Express, GMC Savanna reportedly ending production for 2025
Sat, Jul 2 2022The oldest commercial vans on the market may only have a few years left, according to a report from Autoweek. The news outlet cited a "competitive analysis source" in saying that the Chevy Express and GMC Savanna commercial vans would be discontinued after the 2025 model year. They would then be replaced by a new electric van, likely Ultium-platform based, for the 2026 model year. We reached out to GM for comment, and this is the official statement sent to us: "We have said in the past that as part of GM’s larger EV acceleration plans that we will add two new vehicles to our commercial portfolio. The first is a full-sized battery electric cargo van and the second is a medium-duty truck that will put both Ultium and our Hydrotec hydrogen fuel cell technology to work. We have not disclosed timing, names or shared any other details, so any articles reporting more are purely speculative." The GM vans are mighty old, having been introduced for the 1996 model year. They've barely changed since then, having received just some facelifts and updated powertrains over the years. And with GM's electrification plans, we're not surprised that these vans will be on the way out. We do have some disagreement about the reported timeline for replacement, though. We suspect that the upcoming electric vans will overlap with the old vans for at least a year. The reason being that there are a lot of these vans on the road, and there are a lot of pieces of equipment that fit them. Box vans, buses and more have components that have been designed for the Express and Savanna. If you're a fleet that has invested in these components, you might not be ready to shift over to a whole new platform. So GM will probably want to give fleet buyers one last opportunity to replace any old vans before committing entirely to a new electric van platform. It will also be interesting to see what kind of market the GM electric vans enter. Ford already has its electric Transit on the way, and Stellantis will be launching the Ram ProMaster electric van next year. Those are both based on existing gas-powered vans. And GM itself has already delivered the first of its larger BrightDrop EV600 electric vans to FedEx. The coming GM vans will likely be new platforms, which could give them performance and range advantages, though the Ford and Stellantis vans will have the advantage of being compatible with equipment for the gas variants.
