Reluctantly for sale, this Corvette has been garage kept, new summer performance tires (non-runflat), fresh engine and differential oil changes. Currently tagged in Delaware. Clear title. I purchased this Corvette in September 2011. Mileage was 18,000, so you can see that I have not driven the car much in the four years of ownership. At the time of purchase, the car check reported one accident. Previous owner advised that another driver backed into the front of the Corvette while parked. Front facia was replaced and the front of the Corvette was repainted the GM factory black. I inspected the car and found no faults and have had no issues since purchase. The Corvette has always been garaged since new and got rained on exactly once since I've owned the car. The powertrain is stock, no aftermarket air intake, stock exhaust. I was looking for a unmodified, garage kept Corvette. I had to look for quite a while to find a triple black 6-speed car. The interior is in nice shape, as you would expect of a low mileage car. A few little interior touches such as chrome radio knobs, chrome piece on emergency brake handle and a new console cover. Original Bose radio system, AM/FM cassette, with factory trunk mount CD changer. Heads Up Display. Dual zone A/C/heat, power sport seats. Traction Control. This Corvette does not have the optional Driver Select Sport Suspension. All in all, a nice little driver that needs someone with more time than I to enjoy. I believe I have priced car reasonably and I'm motivated to sell. The Corvette just sets in the garage, under a car cover and on a battery tender. I welcome appointments to inspect car. Any test drives will be accompanied. The 2001 Corvette is being sold as is, no implied warranty. The Corvette is also being advertised in other venues, so I reserve the right to end auction early. GM will make Chevy Volt production announcement tomorrow

Thing are apparently happening to get the next-generation Chevy Volt ready for public consumption. The most obvious proof is in a preview of an announcement (possibly coming tomorrow) that the two main places where General Motors gets the Volt ready -the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant and the Brownstown Township battery assembly facility - will be getting big money upgrades and lots of new positions. The Hamtramck plant builds the Volt and its fancier cousin, the Cadillac ELR, as well as the global versions of the Volt. The Detroit News reports that GM will add 1,400 jobs and spend roughly $450 million at the two locations in order to build the redesigned Volt. What's less clear is exactly what the updates will bring us. We've heard that the new volt will be a 2016 model and come on a new chassis. Speculation in The Detroit News about tomorrow's announcement runs the gamut from a new compact PHEV with less electric range and a lower price (which makes sense) to an updated Volt with more electric range (heard it before) to a new all-electric vehicle (the moon shot). If there's any hints to be gleaned in the international Volts, there are also reports coming in that the Opel brand will get an all-electric vehicle that is cheaper than the Ampera. Read into that what you will. We pestered GM's Kevin Kelly on the new Volt (again) and he said (again) that he couldn't give out any more detail other than what's been reported. He just told AutoblogGreen that there will be an announcement tomorrow and that it will be about the Hamtramck and Brownstown facilities and involve the Volt. So, stay tuned.

Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below.
