1960 - Chevrolet Corvette on 2040-cars
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States
Most C1 Corvettes are not reliable unless they cost $80k and up, everything on this car runs 100%. I spent about $20k making this car run perfectly with toof upgrades. Brand new Cooper tires with brand new 17” chrome rims. T he only thing I'm having a tough time with is the clock running accurately, lol. It's a 3 speed automatic . Driver’s seat/steering wheel customized to feveryone up to 6’2” tall. Other C1 Corvettes you can't fit in unless you are 5'7" and under. No rust and underside is in fantastic condition. Newer Holley Carb, b rand new kingpins, brand new oversized aluminum radiator with fan, newer 350 engine, n ewer Tur bo 350 transmission. Car is mostly original with the upgrades listed. Vintage A/C blows ice cold for those hot days, has heat, and defrost. New Corvette radio and CD player. Original steering wheel available. Comes with 1960 operations manual. Brand new $3500 black soft top only. About 2 minor 2" cracks by rear license plate/trunk and about 2 small chips in paint, all common in fiberglass cars unless paint is only 5 years old. Looks like the original paint. Chrome is in good condition, but not show room quality with some minimal pitting in spots. New console with cup holder. Many brand new parts: new side gears, new yoke, new ring & pinion, and new bearings and seals, housing just cleaned to run perfectly.

GM recalls nearly 340,000 large SUVs to fix daytime running lights
Thu, Nov 10 2022General Motors has initiated a recall campaign for more than 338,000 of its large SUVs to address a potential defect in the onboard computer software that controls the daytime running lights. In some cases, the DRLs may remain on even when the headlights are enabled, which creates additional glare for oncoming drivers at night and fails to comply with federal regulations for headlight performance. "GM determined that the body control module (BCM) software in these vehicles, under a combination of certain pre-conditions, may fail to deactivate the DRLs when the headlamps are on," GM's recall report said. "A regulatory assessment was conducted to evaluate whether the condition presented a potential noncompliance with the DRL activation requirements in S7.10.5, Table I-a. of FMVSS 108. On October 27, 2022, GMs Safety Field Action Decision Authority (SFADA) decided to conduct a recall for potential noncompliance with this standard." GM says the recall covers the 2021 model year GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV. The company says all models produced within that operating window include the improperly programmed body control module, meaning all vehicles within the recall population may exhibit the problem. The issue was discovered by a GM engineer during validation testing in August, prompting a deeper investigation and eventually leading to the recall itself. The module's software can be updated by GM dealers, so it should be a quick fix for customers. Notifications will be mailed to owners in December. Best new convertibles for 2024 and 2025
Thu, Jan 25 2024If youre here, then youre already in the right mindset. Convertibles rule, and we have all the best convertibles listed for you further below. Driving around with the top off is an experience you need to live to fall in love with. When the weathers right, youre on a proper bit of road, and the car youre in is a good one, few automotive experiences can top it. The experience is extra special when you have a musical exhaust note filtering directly into your ears and echoing off the landscape around you. And while rolling the windows down and opening a moonroof can get you part of the way there, it's nothing like feeling the wind wash over you with absolutely no roof overhead. The downsides can be just as harsh as the upsides when youre in the wrong conditions, though. Convertibles are typically worse to live with in cold climates, and driving around with the top up frequently means you might be subject to more road noise and worse visibility than an equivalent coupe. And when it comes to pure performance, convertibles are inherently compromised from a weight and structural rigidity perspective. All that said, we still think the upsides outweigh the compromises if your number one objective is to simply have fun. Its a good thing then that there are a ton of great convertibles for sale these days. And no, the list of possibilities isnt as long as it used to be. Long-running standbys like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and C-Class Convertibles are gone (replaced by the one CLE-Class). And so are others like the Audi TT Roadster, Fiat 124 Spider and Nissan Z Roadster. Nevertheless, opportunities abound from the ultra-cheap and fun, to physics-defying supercars and everything else in between. Well give you options for which new convertibles we think are the best below, so read on to find out. Mazda MX-5 Miata Pros: Lightweight and compact; great engine and transmission combo; one of the most raw and pure driving experiences out thereCons: Not great for tall people; infotainment is dated; tiny trunk Read our Mazda MX-5 Miata Review Miata is always the answer, right? In this case, that rings even more true than usual. In fact, you could stop reading this list right here and go buy a Miata and youd likely be just as happy driving it around as you would be in any of the more expensive offerings that follow. Thats just the magic of the MX-5.
Next-gen Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra may use carbon fiber
Thu, Dec 7 2017It's been generally accepted that the next generation of full-size GM trucks will use some sort of strong, lightweight material for the beds while retaining steel for the cab. While aluminum seems like the most obvious choice, according to Automotive News, the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra will incorporate both aluminum and carbon fiber in their beds. The publication cites sources from within GM, though it seems the introduction of this comparatively exotic material mix is still a few years off. While carbon fiber is both stronger and lighter than steel and aluminum, it takes significantly more time and money to produce, essentially relegating the material to small-volume cars. The main benefit for trucks is the resulting reduction in weight to improve fuel economy without sacrificing the tough, rugged capabilities truck buyers expect. The Ford F-150 made the switch to aluminum for the 2015 model year and it's proved highly successful. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before the competition followed suit. Automotive News says that the next-gen trucks will launch with aluminum beds and that it will take a couple of years before we'll see any carbon fiber incorporated into the design. Even then, only look for the composite material on higher-trim models, with a trickle down to lower-spec trucks possible further in the future. In 2011, GM announced it was working with Japan-based Teijin Limited on a carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic. There's a good chance that material's introduction will be on trucks.
