1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible, 110 engine, 3 speed manual transmission, power electric top. runs, drives, and shifts good. Body work finished about 2 years ago, painted about 1 year ago.  Any rust found was cut out and metal welded in. Lots of new parts installed within last year or so including new top (not a cheap $200 top either, but a good quality one) cost me $950 just for top, new convert. top cables, new top boot, new upholstery on seats, new carpet, new rear side panels, etc. Tires are like new BfGoodrich T/A radials 215-60 14 on newly painted 14x7 rally wheels, new weatherstrips on engine lid cover and trunk cover, new engine lid "110" emblem, new front fender "Monza" emblem, 2 new tail light lens, new outside chrome door handles, new door locks, new master cylinder, new fuel pump, new carb fuel filters, new coil, new distributor tune up parts, new plugs and wires, new battery, new arm rest bases, Corsa gauges and shifter base, speedo, tach, and fuel gauge work, manifold pressure gauge and cylinder head temp gauge never hooked up, new rear nylon strut rod bushings and strut sleeves, new clutch adjuster, new glove box lock assy, new steering wheel adapter, etc, etc, etc.  I am sure I haven't listed everything that has been replaced, but this gives a good idea.  The red pin stripe is paint, not just some cheap sticker, but was painted first, then other colors painted and whole car clear coated.  There are 3 coats of color and 4 coats of clear that was applied when painted.  Paint is very nice as shown in pics, but it is not perfect.  There are extremely few, if any, perfect paint jobs out there.  There are a few things that I never got around to, for example, never put on new door seals or seal across front of convertible top that seals against top windshield frame, radio either isn't hooked up or doesn't work, front trunk lid needs a new lock put in (I may have one, just haven't got around to it), have not installed sun visors. I have them, think one needs re-upholstered, but I have both and will go with car.  Really hate to sell, but I am buying some land and need the money for that.  No trades.  Car is located in Somerset Ky. 42501. I have car listed locally and reserve the right to end the auction early for any reason.  Please come look at and drive the car before bidding.  Winning bidder to pay non-refundable $300 deposit via pay pal and rest in cash at time of pick up.  If not picking up in person, payment to be made by certified bank check and car will not leave my possesion until I have proof from my bank funds have been transfered. I prefer winning bidder to pick up in person, but if needs to be shipped, shipping costs, set-up, etc. will be paid by and set-up by winning bidder.  Feel free to call me with any other questions at 606-two one nine, 5590, but remember I am on eastern time zone so call at an appropriate hour please.

GM now finishing and shipping pickups it had parked for lack of chips

Fri, Oct 22 2021

DETROIT — General Motors is more than halfway through shipping newly-assembled pickups that it had parked due to a shortage of semiconductor chips, a top executive at the No. 1 U.S. automaker said on Friday. "We've made great progress," Steve Carlisle, GM's North American chief executive said at the Reuters Events Automotive Summit. "We're a bit better than halfway through that at the moment and our goal would be to clear out our '21 model years by the end of the year. We'll have a bit of a tail of '22 model years into the new year but not for too long." The global chip shortage has forced automakers like GM to idle production or in some cases mostly build vehicles and then park them until the necessary chips can be installed, allowing those vehicles to be then shipped to dealers. Last month, GM Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson cautioned that GM's third-quarter wholesale deliveries could be down by 200,000 vehicles because of chip shortages. He did not break out what share of that was trucks. To expedite transportation of newly-built vehicles to dealers, Carlisle said GM bought a number of car haulers to deliver them from factories or distribution centers. The Detroit automaker has also allowed dealers to pick the vehicles up themselves in some locations. Carlisle said new vehicle inventories have shrunk to below 20 days in the United States due to the supply chain disruptions, but the company wants to get that back up to 30 to 45 days with some getting to 60 days depending on the product line. GM sees sales of gasoline-powered vehicles being steady over the decade and real growth opportunity in electric vehicles and software, with one not undermining the other, he said.

GM executive chief EV engineer says reducing cost of plug-in vehicles is 'huge priority'

Mon, Mar 17 2014

As we know, another major automaker investing heavily in electrified vehicles is General Motors, and it's doing things much differently than rivals BMW, Ford or Nissan. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV is a modest seller at its $35,000 sticker price but a huge hit with owners. The Chevy Spark BEV, still in limited availability, puts smiley faces on its owners and drivers. The just-introduced Cadillac ELR, a sharp-looking, fun-driving $76,000 luxocoupe take on the Volt's EREV mechanicals, has admittedly low sales expectations. With this interesting trio in showrooms and much more in the works, the third vehicle electrification leader I collared for an interview at Detroit's North American International Auto Show (see #1 and #2) was Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer, Electrified Vehicles. ABG: Why do your EREVs need four-cylinder power to extend their range when BMW's i3 makes do with an optional 650 cc two-banger? "We designed [the Volt and the ELR] to go anywhere, any time" - Pam Fletcher PF: I get that question all the time: why not something smaller? You don't really need that much. You use the electric to its ability, then you just need to limp. But we designed those cars to go anywhere, any time, and we don't want their performance to be compromised. If you're driving through the mountains, we don't want you to be crawling up grades, or to be limited on any terrain. So it's optimized to be able to travel literally the biggest grades and mountain roads around the globe at posted speeds. Because what if you can't? Another good reason: when the engine is on, you have to run it wide open throttle, max speed, most of the time. And while we can do a lot with acoustics, and the ELR has active noise cancelation, a small-displacement, low cylinder-count engine at high speed, high load all the time isn't something you want to live with. That's how we came up with the balance we did among the key factors of performance, NVH [noise, vibration and harshness] and range. ABG: Where you go from here? Is the range-extender engine due for an update? PF: We know and love the current Volt, and there is still a lot of acclaim about it, so we think it's a good recipe. But we are heavily in the midst of engineering the next-generation car, which I think everyone will love and be excited about.
