UP for Auction here is a 1965 Corsa Coupe 140 4 speed car. This car has lots of goodies so please read carefully.

Exterior   Black (Base Clear) has decent curb appeal a great 20 footer or driver quality car. Previous owner let it sit under a pine tree to long and the sap ate into the clear coat. I have done minor cleaning and polishing to bring it to it's current state. The Body shows one bad spot of rust bubbling under the paint on the drivers side just in front of the door. With one rust spot and a cheap paint job (Maaco) you could make this into a real head turner.

Interior   Black   Good carpet, New headliner, New door panels with matching rear cards. Stock rear seat in great condition not hard or cracking. Front seats are aftermarket fabric seats with black and grey charcoal  inserts.. Proper Corsa Dash  just completely re worked and Odometer rolled to 000000. Dash has new wrinkle finish and is fully functional except for the clock. Radio is a Sony CD player with front input jack for an mp3 player. Speakers are Alpine 6 x 9 in the rear window.

Chassis   good mechanical condition. Previous owner did some Autocrossing with this car and every suspension joint is either Nylon or Delrin. Front has been converted to Disk brakes and it has a dual Master Cylinder. (DOT 5 Silicone Fluid) Rear end has a Corvette sway bar and it fits perfectly.  All springs are stock... not cut down or modified in any way.  Front end has Aftermarket Quick Steering arms and the shifter has a Quick Shift adaptor.

Engine / Drivetrain   Correct 65 transaxle is in the car it drives and shifts nicely. Engine is not the proper Coded RB block. It is however a late model 140 engine. The engine was internally inspected and the rod bearings looked perfect. The heads where extensively rebuilt with a complete new valve job and had the chambers cut to raise the compression to 10 to 1. It has a bolted and balanced flywheel with a new clutch disc. No oil Leaks ..  Dual exhaust is welded together and sounds good (not rusted out junk). Car can come either as pictured with 4 individual air filters or with a stock style snorkle air cleaner... your Choice... Engine has a MSD 6AL ignition system firing from a set of points in the dist. the fuel pump is electric.

Floor pans have all been replaced with new units from Clarks Corvair parts. I don't know how bad they where but the previous owner cut out the old and replaced them.

Everything Mechanically is good and it can be test driven and or driven home.

The Bad   To be a real nice car it will need a paint job and minor exterior rust repair . Tires are worn it will need them soon.  Engine has a sometimes hearable wrist pin knocking.. I have personally checked the rod bearings and the condition of the internal engine and all is good.

If you don't know my user name or me personally ,,, My shop builds and repairs Corvairs all the time and with the size of the Corvair community my name is well known. I wouldn't attempt to sell this car if it wasn't ready for a new owner to enjoy.

With that Said
It is a used car and please bid accordingly. Check out my feedback rating..

Some may ask why sell this car if it so good...  Bottom line is that I took this car as payment for performance engine work I did for a customer. I have put a ton of labor and parts into this car to bring it back to driver status and now I need to turn the car back into Capitol.

My reserve is set at what any running driving 65 Corsa Coupe should bring.. If the reserve isn't meet I will keep the car for a few months fix the rust and repaint it. then sell it for twice as much. Or buy it and pay me to do this work and when you get it it will be beautiful.

On May-18-13 at 07:18:16 PDT, seller added the following information:

Things to note that I forgot when listing the car...

The door jambs are solid no rust in them and the doors do not sag when opened.

Trunk is solid no rusted through holes. A quick clean up and can or two of trunk splatter paint and it will look new.

Windshield is a replacement aftermarket unit very good condition. (no scratches or nicks)

I can provide any additional pics requested by serious bidders. All of the pictures in this auction where taken Friday the 17th of May. The car was  not cleaned up for the pictures. In these pictures it is currently covered in a coating of pollen.

GM might lose 90-year U.S. sales crown over chip shortage

Sat, Oct 2 2021

Automotive News editor Nick Bunkley tweeted on October 1 that according to AutoNews data, General Motors "has been the largest seller of vehicles in the U.S. every year since passing Ford in 1931." With automakers having turned in light car and truck sales data for the first three quarters of 2021, GM's 90-year-run might not reach 91. According to AN figures, Toyota was 80,401 vehicles ahead when the October workday started. Worse, GM is so far behind its historic pace that it might only sell enough light vehicles in the U.S. to match its numbers from 1958.  Meanwhile, the New York Times put a few more salient numbers to the pain GM and Toyota are enduring alongside the the rest of the industry. GM sold 33% fewer cars in Q3 2021 than it did in Q3 2019 during the dark days of the pandemic, 446,997 units this year as opposed to 665,192 last year. GM's Q3 2020 was only down 13% on Q3 2019. Over at Toyota, the bottom line showed a 1% gain in Q3 2021 compared to 2020, with 566,005 units moved off dealer lots. The finer numbers show two steps forward and one step back, though; Toyota's September sales were down 22% compared to last year.  GM remains optimistic about what's ahead, GM's president of North American operations telling the NYT, "We look forward to a more stable operating environment through the fall." We'd like to see that happen, but we don't know how it happens. The chip shortage said to have been the inciting incident for the current woes isn't over, and not only can no one agree when it will be over, the automakers, chip producers, and U.S. government still can't get on the same page about who needs what and when. Looking away from that for a second shows articles about "No End In Sight" for supply chain disruptions in early September, before China had to start working through power supply constraints, global supply chain workers started warning of a "system collapse," and roughly 500,000 containers sat waiting to be unloaded at Southern California ports — a record number seemingly broken every week. And back to chips, we're told just a few days ago the chip shortage is "worse than we thought."   For now, the NYT wrote that GM dealer inventory is down 40% from June to roughly 129,000 vehicles, and down 84% from the days when dealers would cumulatively keep about 800,000 light vehicles in stock. However, GM just announced it would have almost all of its U.S. facilities back online next week, although some would run at partial capacity.

GM laying off more than 4,000 workers Monday morning

Sat, Feb 2 2019

According to reports from Automotive News, The Detroit News, and CNN, General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting Monday morning. In a statement to AN, a spokesperson for the automaker said, "We are not confirming timing. Our employees are our priority. We will communicate with them first." We've been expecting layoffs at General Motors since November, 2018. At the time, the Detroit-based automaker announced it would seek to shed 8,100 salaried employees, shut down five assembly plants in North America, and kill off several slow-selling models. One month earlier, GM offered buyout packages to 18,000 workers and said it would seek to cut its global workforce by 25 percent. A spokesperson said at the time the moves were "proactive steps to get ahead of the curve by accelerating our efforts to address overall business performance." The cost-cutting moves are expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020. David Kudla, CEO and chief investment strategist of Mainstay Capital Management, referred to the impending culling as "Black Monday" and told The Detroit News that the layoffs would begin around 7:30 a.m. and continue in waves throughout the coming days and weeks. GM plans to deliver on its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings report on Wednesday. President Donald Trump plans to deliver the annual State of the Union address a day earlier on Tuesday. We expect to hear plenty more from both sides over the next several days.

GM under fire from safety advocates over braking problem caused by recall fix

Thu, Feb 6 2020

Safety experts are lambasting General Motors over what they say is the automaker’s slow notification of owners of certain 2019 sedans and trucks that a recall fix could cause power braking to fail and increase the risk of a crash, the Detroit Free Press reports.  GMÂ’s original recall in December targeted about 550,000 Cadillac CT6 sedans and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups, all from the 2019 model year, over potentially defective electronic stability control and antilock brakes. In that case, GM said the errors would not show up as a diagnostic warning on the instrument cluster. But after GM had done recall work on 162,000 vehicles, about 1,700 owner have complained that their power brakes didnÂ’t work after they had the recall done and then used the OnStar app to start their vehicle. GM then issued a supplemental fix for customers whoÂ’d already had their vehicles serviced. In this case, a diagnostic warning should illuminate saying either “Service Brake Assist” or “Service ECS,” which GM says is a signal that a customer should not drive the vehicle and instead call their dealer, which will tow the vehicle and have it repaired. Safety advocates say the automaker hasnÂ’t gone far enough to protect customers. “The fact that you could potentially start a vehicle and not have brakes is a pretty risky proposition,” Sean Kane, president of the Safety Research and Strategies, which works on auto issues for plaintiffs and governmental organizations, told the Freep. “The fact that they wouldnÂ’t notify owners (sooner) is pretty stunning.” GM told the Freep it was required to notify the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and file paperwork before it notified customers about the original recall, which was made Dec. 12. It then had to investigate and resolve the problem created by its original recall fix before alerting customers. GMÂ’s call center and dealers are contacting the remaining 900 customers who havenÂ’t yet had the update made to the original recall repair. GM also hired a vendor to send recall letters to the 550,000 customers affected by the original recall notifying them about the update. There are no known injuries or deaths related to the problem.
