1972 Chevelle Convertible. Two owner car. Original V-8 350(fully rebuilt by 2nd owner in 2008 who was a certified GM mechanic at RAMP Chevrolet for 30 years before passing). The only modifications were HEI ignition conversion(no more points to mess with), polished aluminum intake, and headers. The car was to be stripped and repainted after the motor rebuild was completed in 2008(started with pass fender and stopped see pic). The engine turns freely and I am confident it will run and drive fine. I was told by my mechanic not to start the car without removing the old gas....I was told by others to just start the car.......I will be cautious and NOT start the car. I do know it needs a new battery. The car has been in dry storage in the garage since to 2008 to present day. The car has a new black power top with glass rear window, the inner liner of the top is perfect and the frame skeleton is clean(may have been restored). The car has tinted windows from factory and all glass is clean. The pinch molding around the rear deck is spotless and excellent shape, the A-pillar front windshield moldings are spotless and shine as new, the convertible top bow is in mint condition with original leather wrapping intact(no rust, no bubbles..... very clean). The car has all its original panels. The floors, frame and trunk pan are original and solid(see pics). The original color combo from factory on cowl tag which reads paint code 75 cranberry red is very desirable with the black interior and top. As you can see from the pics the pass fender was taken down to metal and headlight extensions with grill were removed(assuming this was where the resto was started and stopped by the mechanic who was in the process of restoring the exterior of car before he passed). All the parts mentioned are included. The front bumper is missing. I may be able to locate it and if I do It will be included...if the widow who sold me the car cant find it you can locate one on ebay for $75 or brand new repro for $150 in mint ready to use shape(see NPD National Parts Depot). This is a nice solid car that can be used as is or finished to whatever level your wife will let you...lol. The car has never been hit. My mechanic looked over the car and had nothing bad to say. I am not asking a lot for the car.Feel free to call with offers if you are serious. Its offered for sale in my local area and I may end auction early. All are welcome to inspect car before auction end. The car is sold in used as is condition. All international bidders welcome. I will assist and store car in garage until pick up, but transport payment and planning are the buyers responsibility. I will gladly assist with shipper contact if need. I am retired Police Officer....so I have some time on my hand and glad to help if I can. If the car does not sell I will put a bumper on the car and enjoy it this summer. I have a clear title/NY reg ready to transfer to new owner Please feel free to call me with any questions. 631-943-9107 Thank you. First fair offer gets the car.

Question of the Day: What's the most irritating car name?
Wed, Mar 9 2016You hear a lot about how the Chevrolet Nova was a sales flop in Mexico because "No va" means "it doesn't go" in Spanish; in fact, the Nova sold pretty well south of the border, and in any case most Spanish-speakers know that "Nova" means "new" in Latin and Portuguese. However, General Motors doesn't deserve to be let off the hook for bad car names, because the Oldsmobile Achieva— no doubt inspired by the excruciating "coffee achievers" ads of the 1980s— scrapes the biggest fingernails down the screechiest chalkboard in the US-market car-name world. That is, unless you think Daihatsu's incomprehensible choice of Charade was worse. Meanwhile, Japanese car buyers could get machines with cool names like Mazda Bongo Friendee or Honda Life Dunk. It's just not fair! So, what car name drives you the craziest? Related Video: Auto News Design/Style Chevrolet Honda Mazda Daihatsu Automotive History questions car names
Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step
Thu, Feb 2 2017General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet. 2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette wastes no time zooming into Jay Leno's Garage
Thu, 24 Jan 2013Where else would you expect the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to show up first? Although this time it isn't exactly in Jay Leno's Garage, Leno instead playing an away game at Brown's Classic Auto in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nor does Leno drive the car, instead taking an 11-minute walkaround of the new American sports car with General Motors design head Ed Welburn, the same man who recently brought by a string of classic Corvettes to the talk show host's California compound.
It is, admittedly, a love-fest for the American sports car now featuring 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, but one that also features admissions about previous Corvette seats like "they were kinda rough," and the explanation that labeling the coupe "Stingray" means not having to call it "the base Corvette." On top of that, Welburn also explains the proper application of the term "dashboard." You can watch it all in the video below.
