ALL NUMBERS HAVE BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED SO THAT ANY OF YOU DOUBTERS CAN DO YOUR RESEARCH ....WE ALREADY HAVE AND KNOW ALL NUMBERS MATCH THE FACTORY ORIGINAL OFF THE PRODUCTION LINE. THIS IS A THREE OWNER 396 SS CHEVELLE - I AM SELLING THIS CHEVELLE FOR A FRIEND WHOSE DAD IS A SERIOUS COLLECTOR - HIS DAD PURCHASED THIS CHEVELLE FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER ABOUT 25 YEARS AGO. HIS DAD IS NOW IN HIS LATER YEARS AND PASSED THE VEHICLE ON TO HIM ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO. TECHNICALLY 3 OWNERS, BUT REMAINED IN THE FAMILY. HE HAD ANOTHER ORIGINAL 396 SS CHEVELLE THAT WE SOLD ON EBAY ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO TO A VERY HAPPY SERVICEMAN. THE ENGINE RUNS STRONG AND HAS NEVER BEEN OVERHAULED.....IT WILL MOVE ON DOWN THE ROAD FOR SURE. THE SEATS, HEADLINER AND CARPET HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY RESTORED TO ORIGINAL SPECS. THE CAR WAS REPAINTED APPROXIMATELY 10 YEARS AGO IN THE SAME COLOR AS IT CAME OFF THE PRODUCTION LINE. (There is a small ding on the hood on the driver's side) THE VINYL TOP HAS BEEN COMPLETELY RESTORED. (Unfortunately there is a dent on the top driver's side near the back where my friend had an object fall from a shelf in his garage onto the vinyl top. see the photographs). THE ORIGINAL RADIO IS IN THE VEHICLE BUT HAS NOT BEEN HOOKED UP IN MANY MANY YEARS. WE ARE NOT SURE IF IT WORKS, BUT WE ASSUME IT DOES. IT DOES NOT HAVE POWER STEERING. WE ENCOURAGE ALL THOSE WITH SERIOUS INTEREST TO PERSONALLY INSPECT THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE AUCTION END. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE WITH YOUR PHONE NUMBER. THE VEHICLE IS GARAGED IN LIVINGSTON, TEXAS. WE WILL BE MORE THAN WILLING TO ACCOMODATE ALL SUCH REQUESTS. A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT THROUGH PAYPAL IS REQUIRED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE AUCTION END. THE BALANCE MUST BE PAID WITHIN 7 DAYS OF AUCTION END VIA CASH, CASHIER'S CHECK, MONEY ORDER, OR WIRE TRANSFER INTO MY IOLTA (ATTORNEY TRUST ACCOUNT). (PAYPAL CAN ONLY BE USED FOR PAYMENT OF DEPOSIT ONLY). UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THE VEHICLE NOR THE TITLE BE RELEASED UNTIL PAYMENT HAS CLEARED! DON'T EVEN ASK. THIS INCLUDES ALL CASHIER'S CHECKS AND MONEY ORDERS - (IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW, THERE HAS BEEN AN ABUNDANCE OF UNSCRUPULOUS PURCHASERS WHO ATTEMPT TO DEFRAUD SELLERS USING THESE TYPES OF FRAUDULENT INSTRUMENTS) BUYER IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKUP OF THE VEHICLE AND ALL SHIPPING CHARGES IF A CARRIER IS CHOSEN. IF A CARRIER IS USED, WE REQUEST A POWER OF ATTORNEY EXECUTED BY THE BUYER GIVING THE NAMED CARRIER THE RIGHT TO PICKUP THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A PERFECT RATING AS A SELLER FOR A REASON....I CONDUCT BUSINESS HONESTLY. I ALSO HAPPEN TO BE AN ATTORNEY AND MORE THAN WILLING TO BROKER THIS TRANSACTION WITH MY FRIEND VIA MY ATTORNEY IOLTA TRUST ACCOUNT. THIS IS THE WAY WE SOLD THE LAST 396 SS CHEVELLE. I AM MORE THAN WILLING TO HAVE THE PURCHASE FUNDS WIRED INTO MY IOLTA ACCOUNT WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE FUNDS WILL NOT BE RELEASED TO MY FRIEND UNTIL HE RELEASES BOTH THE VEHICLE AND TITLE. I WILL HAVE THE TITLE IN MY POSSESSION AND BE PERSONALLY AVAILABLE TO FINALIZE THE TRANSACTION. THIS IS THE SAFEST AND FAIREST WAY TO APPEASE ALL INTERESTED PARTIES TO THE FINAL SALE OF THE VEHICLE. INTERNATIONNAL PURCHASERS: BUYER WILL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKUP OF THE VEHICLE AND ALL SHIPPING CHARGES. WE WILL MAKE THE VEHICLE AVAILABLE FOR PICKUP IN LIVINGSTON, TEXAS BY THE CARRIER OF YOUR CHOICE. Old Car or New Car? 1993 Chevy Camaro vs 2015 Honda CR-Z
Wed, Sep 30 2015My daily life revolves around used cars. As a former fast-talking auto auctioneer, it was once my job to inspect, appraise, and liquidate thousands of cars throughout the United States. Since I put down my microphone and became a full-time car dealer, I have gone from auctioning off 150 vehicles an hour – yes, we really do talk that fast – to buying 150 vehicles every two to three months. I see and bid on everything from $300 Volkswagens that belch more black smoke than a diesel truck rolling coal, to $30,000 DeLoreans that hopefully can go at least 88 miles per hour. The auctions never run out of weirdness when it comes to cars because they sell over 10 million every single year. So with that big number in mind, let me tell you about these two cars that have about as much in common as Mel Gibson and Mel Brooks.Option A: 1993 Chevrolet Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car Edition View 24 Photos This 1993 Chevrolet Camaro Indy Pace Car has all of 4,187 miles on it. Neither of those numbers are a misprint and yes, those are multi-colored stripes on the hood. Every week, I find at least two or three museum pieces that have been stored in the private garage of an auto collector. As you can tell, there are some very broad strokes to the definition and tastes of a collector. It could be a guy who has an extreme case of what I call "Automotive Compulsive Disorder" who chucks 20 or 30 old cars into a field and lets the weather and elements have at them. I once knew a guy, a car dealer at that, who "stored" seven 1990s Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertibles in the Georgia sun, and within two years those cars turned into complete junk. The fact that he stored them in an open field he didn't actually own and near a public road didn't help either. A few of the local meth heads and kleptocrats decided to strip-mine his collection, from the radiators to the tops themselves. He had a brief time in prison in between the before and the surprise after and trust me, he looked like he had soiled his britches when he saw what happened to his personally prized Cutlasses. Then you have whoever owned this Camaro. Is it a one-of-a-kind? Nope. Just 1 of 125, and an insignificant number at that (#87). But let's open the door to this Camaro and see what we find. Oof! I don't remember this multi-colored silly string design as a '90s must-have. Wasn't this popular back in the 1980s?
Nissan Leaf sells 1,553 in April, Volt climbs to 905
Fri, May 1 2015After three months in the 500 and 600 range, sales of the Chevy Volt climbed to 905 in April. That's up for the year so far – likely due to increasing discounts – but still down 41.5 percent from April 2014. As we've been saying every time the Volt turns in less-than-exciting monthly sales numbers, we suspect a large number of potential Volt buyers are waiting for the next-gen model to arrive in the second half of 2015. While the price for that car has not yet been announced, the updated tech specs show that it will probably be worth the wait for drivers who want the latest and greatest. Over on the Nissan Leaf side of things, April sales were 1,553 units this year. That's the second-best month of the year but down from the 2,088 units sold last April. After the Leaf finally climbed to the top of the cumulative best sellers list for plug-in vehicles last month, the difference between these two leaders is now 1,824 in favor of the Leaf. Nissan says that sales were influenced by the launch of its No Charge To Charge promotion in Indianapolis and Fresno, CA. This deal gives new Leaf buyers and lessees two years of no-cost quick charging in these markets. No Charge To Charge is not available in 15 US markets for (San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Nashville, Phoenix, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta) and will expand to 10 more by the middle of this year. As we do every month, our full wrap-up of US green car sales is coming soon. For now, enjoy discussing these sales figures in the Comments below.
Chevy Volt sales drop in June, Nissan Leaf inches upwards
Tue, Jul 1 2014Different month, same story. That's the gist of the monthly US sales numbers from the Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf. These were the first two mass-market plug-in vehicles to go on sale in the US and we've been comparing their sales numbers for what seems like ages now. So far, the 2014 tale of the tape shows the all-electric once again trumping the plug-in hybrid. The last time the Volt outsold the Leaf was in October 2013. Chevrolet sold 1,777 Volts in June. That was good enough to be the Volt's best sales month of the year, but it's down 34 percent from the 2,698 units sold in June 2013. In fact, it's on par with the 1,760 Volts sold in June 2012. Given the steady sales, General Motors might need to push up the release of the next-gen Volt to gin up excitement, especially if it also offers some of the things that current Volt drivers say they want improved: more range, a lower price and a fifth seat. GM also said it sold 85 Spark EVs in June, an increase of 215 percent over June 2013 Nissan sold 2,347 Leafs last month. The good news continues for Nissan, which says it sold 2,347 Leafs last month. That's an increase of 5.5 percent over 2013 numbers and makes 2014 the best June ever for Leaf sales. Let's credit Texas. Toby Perry, Nissan's director of EV sales and marketing, said in a statement that, "Since the Texas state incentive went into effect in May, we've seen a big jump in Leaf sales in the Austin, Dallas and Houston markets. Our dealers are telling us that they saw more traffic in their stores, and they had their best Leaf sales performance in the last weekend in June." Even with that increase, Atlanta remains the top Leaf market. Nissan has sold 12,736 Leafs in the US so far this year; Chevy 8,615 Volts. Our detailed monthly sales write-up of green cars in the US, including plug-in vehicles, hybrids and diesel cars, is coming soon. For now, we invite you to discuss these numbers in the Comments.
