Vehicle is equipped with a 2.2L 4-cylinder bi-fuel engine, which averages around 28 MPG. The CNG tank can hold around 5-6 GGEs (gallons) and the regular fuel tank holds about 12 gallons. This gives you a range of 500+ miles. This car has four Goodyear tires. Although the pictures show a mounted power inverter and floor mats, both of these have been removed. The inverter was really nice and could be remounted; I'd be happy to include that with the car (just let me know). I've placed the generic floor mats (from Costco) in a different car... sorry. The inverter is nice because it allows you to plug in your regular computer, phone charger, etc. without fiddling around with the DC outlet and related accessories.
There is a mechanical problem that you should be aware of, which I'm told will cost between $600-$2,000 to fix. As a student I do not have the time, money, or inclination to fix it. The vehicle starts up and drives, but it cannot travel long distances because it overheats. I've had 2 mechanics look at it and they agree that the head gasket is blown. Therefore, I am selling as is with no warranty expressed, written, or implied. This would be a great vehicle for someone who is mechanically inclined. My mechanic quoted me the following scenarios: (a) $600 to rebuild the engine with a 50/50 outcome, (b) $1,000 to replace the engine with a used one, or (c) $2,000 to replace with a new engine. In any of the 3 cases the vehicle would retain it's CNG capability. You could do the labor yourself and have a CNG vehicle for much less.
I've also noted that the passenger's side headlight is more dim than the driver's. As I understand, this is a common problem for these vehicles, but I have not investigated how to fix it. Also, I noticed that the A/C had difficulty working when the vehicle was at a standstill. Works great when driving. Despite this, the vehicle and A/C did wonderful in the blistering Arizona heat. The body and interior have wear typical of a vehicle its age. There are also cracks in the dash (see picture), especially near the driver's side windshield. Headboard in good condition, but the visors are not (see picture).
At the very least, this would be a great parts vehicle for someone with an existing CNG cavalier (i.e., donor car), as you would still qualify for the tax credit and obtain expensive CNG parts at a fraction of the normal cost.

Recharge Wrap-up: Lexus CT 200h is NWAPA's favorite hybrid, 'No Charge to Charge' in LA
Thu, Jul 24 2014The Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) has given the Lexus CT 200h its Favorite Hybrid title. It named the compact luxury hybrid its favorite of 2014 at its Drive Revolution in Portland (where it also named the new Volkswagen Golf TDI the Northwest Green Car of the Year). According to NWAPA president Nik Miles, the CT 200h earned the honor for "impressive combination of state-of-the-art small car luxury and hybrid technology." For 2014, the Lexus CT200h got an updated front end, including the spindle grille we've been seeing on new Lexus vehicles, plus a redesigned steering wheel and sliding sun visors. Read more in the press release below. Chevrolet credits the Malibu for helping make stop-start mainstream. Chevrolet started including stop-start technology standard in Malibus equipped with the four-cylinder engine. Chevy has sold about 83,000 of that model, so 97 percent of 2014 and 2015 Malibu sales include stop-start. Now, that technology has made its way into the 2015 Impala. With drivers idling an average of 16 minutes a day, stop-start can significantly reduce harmful emissions and save fuel. According to Navigant Research, we can expect annual sales of cars equipped with stop-start technology to surpass 55 million by 2022. Read more in the press release below. Nissan Leaf customers in Los Angeles will get access to free charging beginning August 15. Nissan is extending its "No Charge to Charge" promotion to LA, which will allow customers to charge at public charging stations at no cost. Leaf customers - including those who bought or leased their car from the participating dealerships on or after July 1 - will get an EZ-Charge card, allowing them to use ChargePoint, Blink, CarCharging, AeroVironment and NRG eVgo chargers for free. Rapid chargers can charge the Leaf's battery to 80 percent in 30 minutes. Nissan plans to offer the "No Charge to Charge" in at least 14 more markets in the US, bringing the total to 25, within the next year. See the press release below for more details. California will get six all-electric school buses for three school districts as part of a demonstration program. The California Energy Commission awarded a grant of $1.4 million for the program to National Strategies LLC; this is in addition to a $2.2-million grant from the South Coast Air Quality Management District. The EV buses use vehicle-to-grid technology, allowing them to sell energy back to the grid when it is needed.

Chevy Volt owners log half a billion electric miles, 2015 production starts
Thu, Jun 19 2014As General Motors gets ready to start 2015 Volt production Monday, Chevrolet is looking back at some of the numbers that got the car to where it is today. The headline number is that Volt owners have collectively put more than a half-billion electric miles on their cars. The unsurprising upshot is that, if you went out and bought a Volt, you're pretty keen on getting as many electric miles out of it as possible. 90 percent of all Volt trips are done purely on electric power. The typical Volt driver goes 970 miles between fill-ups, GM says, and that means that 63 percent of all miles are done on battery power. General Motors executive director Larry Nitz gave AutoblogGreen a few more details on the usage habits of Volt drivers, including that 81 percent of commuting miles are electric. Two-thirds of US Volt drivers charge their vehicle 1.4 times a day, a clear indicator of drivers trying to maximize electric miles through opportunity charging. In fact, Nitz said, 90 percent of all Volt trips are done purely on electric power. GM also says that the Volt's official 35 miles of electric range is still doable for many owners who have had their car for more than 30 months. Looking ahead, we know that one upgrade for the 2015 Volt will be 4G LTE connectivity that can turn the car, like others in the GM family, into a mobile wifi hotspot. We're of course much more interested in when GM is finally going to start production of the next-gen Volt, but GM officials would only tell us that they're very excited about the still-secret vehicle, promising we'll be learning more "soon." Nitz did confirm that today's Volt drivers are most interested in three things from the next-gen model: more range, a lower price and a fifth seat. He did not say whether or not GM will be able to deliver on those requests. Chevrolet Volt Owners Surpass Half a Billion Electric Miles After 30 months of use, a sampling of Volts shows consistent all-electric range 2014-06-19 DETROIT – Since its launch in late 2010, Chevrolet Volt owners have accumulated more than half a billion all-electric miles. Additionally, based on a General Motors' study of more than 300 Volts in service in California for more than 30 months, many owners are exceeding the EPA-rated label of 35 miles of EV range per full charge, with about 15 percent surpassing 40 miles of range.
