1979 Chevrolet Caprice Landau Coupe on 2040-cars
Attleboro Falls, Massachusetts, United States
1979 Chevrolet Caprice Landau Coupe 102,278 orig. miles orig,5.0L- 305 c.i. V8 2 barrel factory posi (limited slip) rear differential its TH-350 transmission has been rebuilt with a mild shift kit for a nice firm shift. This very rare caprice was ordered with factory posi rear end,big sway bars and big brakes ( police package) however they decided to go with the 305 v8 for better fuel economy. It also has a factory power glass sunroof that is intact However, it is not in working order due to switch missing. Its original split bench seat has been replaced with some very presentable black leather buckets from a late 60's or early 70's camaro. The original seat tracks were modified to work with the buckets and the drivers seat is still six way power and it works.as you can see by the pictures this is a very clean car.Its frame is solid with no rot as well as the floors.Factory air conditioning compressor and lines have been removed and i do not have them.It has a custom duel exhaust system with vortec mufflers that is not too loud but has a nice low rumble when pressure is applied to the gas pedal. This car starts right up in the cold (auto choke works) Heat works beautiful and gives a very smooth enjoyable ride. The ignition turns freely without a key because it has broken off inside. If you wish to address this, you will have to replace ignition and get a new key.The car will come with a key that unlocks doors and trunk.I also have a clear mass title that will come with purchase. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have and be sure to look at all pictures before bidding. Thanks for viewing and Happy Bidding! |

GM forced to cut truck production amid semiconductor shortage
Thu, Jul 22 2021WASHINGTON — General Motors said Wednesday it will cut some truck production in North America because of the ongoing global semiconductor shortage. The largest U.S. automaker said its Flint Assembly plant that builds the Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD trucks will operate on one production shift the week of July 26. GM said its Ft. Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana that builds the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 model trucks will be idled next week. GM's Silao Assembly plant in Mexico that also builds the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Cheyenne (for the Mexico market) and GMC Sierra 1500 will also suspend production next week. All three plants are expected to resume regular production the week of August 2. Related video:
GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
GM to idle car production at five factories as Americans continue CUV love affair
Mon, Dec 19 2016In case you needed another reminder that Americans have fallen out of love with sedans, General Motors today announced plans to idle five factories in January in a bid to cut its inventory to 70 days. Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly ( Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Chevrolet Volt and Impala) and Fairfax Assembly in Kansas ( Chevy Malibu) will stop production for three weeks. Lansing Grand River ( Cadillac ATS and CTS, and Chevy Camaro) is going down for two weeks, while Lordstown, OH ( Chevy Cruze) and Bowling Green, KY ( Chevy Corvette) will go idle for a week each, Automotive News reports. GM's shutdown reflects a broader problem with the company's supply – at 847,000 vehicles, the company's supply increased unsteadily from a low of 629,000 units in January of 2016. That's more than a 25 percent increase in the past year. Citing information from Autodata, The Detroit News reports that at the end of November, GM had a 168-day supply of LaCrosses, 177 days' worth of Camaro, 170 days of Corvette, 121 days for Cruze, 119 days for ATS, 132 days for CTS, and 110 days of CT6. Meanwhile, inventory of the company's more popular vehicles is actually below the professionally accepted 60- to 70-day supply, The News reports. The Trax, Colorado pickup, and GM's full-size SUVs are sitting below 50 days and experiencing year-over-year sales increases. GM needs a rethink of its inventory levels, which is something that's apparently coming. "We're going to be responsible in managing our inventory levels," GM spokesman Jim Cain told The News. Another unnamed spokesman told Automotive News the company's day-to-day supplies would "fluctuate before moderating at year-end." But at least one analyst thinks this won't be the last time Detroit needs to stop production to level things out. "Incentives are elevated, residuals are declining, and rates are rising," Brian Johnson, an analyst with Barclays, told The News. "And while GM in particular may benefit in the months ahead from new product launches, it's important to recognize that GM's inventory is elevated at the moment, and it wouldn't surprise us if they need to announce another production cut – which could pressure the stock."
