Here is an absolutely SPECTACULAR and incredible car! This is a 1972 Chevrolet Caprice 4 door sedan with only 53,000 ORIGINAL MILES! In my opinion, it would actually pass for half that many (25k to 30k)! This Original Survivor is an unbelievable time capsule! I acquired it from a family member of the original owner. This family member had owned it for 32 years! Car has always been pampered, garaged, and never driven in snow or ice. All original body panels, floors, etc. No patch panels, and not rusted out or bondoed. Body is nice and straight. Not full of door dings or "parking lot rash". Ready to drive or take to cruise ins or shows. Very striking in Sequoia Green with black deluxe cloth interior, this Caprice is equipped as follows: 1. 400 Cubic Inch V8 engine 2. 3 speed automatic transmission. 3. Power steering and power disc brakes 4. AM radio 5. Deluxe cloth and vinyl interior group and appearance group 6 Black Landau vinyl top 7. Exterior appearance group including bumper guards, door edge guards, and factory fender skirts 8. Air Conditioning (new compressor, and changed over to newer type refrigerant) This beautiful Caprice is an un-restored original Survivor and looks great! Nice and shiny, not faded or oxidized. Chrome, emblems, and bright work are also bright and crisp. This is one of the most original cars I have seen in awhile. It has never been detailed or cleaned up under the hood or in the trunk! Still looks great! Underside of car is also nice and clean. The interior is immaculate and original. No cracks in dash or door panels. Headliner and cloth on seats looks great! As you would imagine, this car hits the road just great! The engine and transmission are smooth and powerful. Cruises effortlessly at highway speeds, with no problems or issues that I am aware of. Only things that don't work are the clock and the AM radio. Radio seems to come on, but I believe the speaker is blown. I drove it on a 225 mile trip recently with no problems at all. I would not be afraid to drive anywhere! I have been getting between 14 and 17 MPG on Regular 87 Octane unleaded gasoline. Car has 4 white wall radial tires with excellent tread. Original spare is in trunk. Also original mat and cardboard insert pieces. The best way I can describe this car is to imagine you have a time machine that could transport you back to late 1974 or early 1975. It is like going to your Chevy dealer back then and buying a 2 or 3 year old well cared for car off the front line of his used car department! Yes, before you moan and groan that it is a 4 door, I wish it was a 2 door too! However, I would much rather have a virgin, un-molested, honest 4 door than a thrown together 2 door for much more money that is full of rust and bondo! Great car for Survivor class at car shows or vintage car tours. Remember, they are only original once! Please call me with questions: Landline 518-604-4050 Cell: 704-661-1326 NOTE: I am at my summer home in the mountains of upstate New York. Cell service can be spotty up here. Best to call both and leave messages at both. Or, feel free to message me through Ebay with your phone number, and I will be happy to call you back. Now for the rules: IMPORTANT: Please read and understand these rules BEFORE bidding. They are part of the listing terms and contract you are agreeing to when you bid. Please DO NOT bid, then try to change them later. That's not how it works. If you have questions, please ask and get answers BEFORE you bid. If you don't intend to abide by the rules, please look elsewhere. 1. Your bid is a contract! If you are the successful bidder, you are expected to pay! Please have all contingencies handled and your money in place BEFORE you bid! No retractions will be allowed, so be sure BEFORE you bid! 2. A NON-REFUNDABLE $1000 partial payment is due within 48 hours of auction's conclusion. This can be by bank wire transfer or cashiers check. Pay Pal is NOT acceptable for this. 3. Balance is due within 7 days of auction's close. This can be by bank wire transfer, cashiers check or cash in person. If you are paying balance upon pickup of car, it must be cash in person. 4. Car and title will not leave here until paid in full with cleared funds. If you are paying with ANY kind of check, it must clear MY bank before car or title will be released. No exceptions! 5. Car is sold strictly as-is at my premises with no guarantee or warranty of any kind. 6. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. I will try to reasonably help and accommodate you any way I can, but it is still YOUR responsibility. 7. If you cannot pick up car immediately, that is fine, it can be left here for a reasonable period. However, it still must be paid for within the 7 days, and you should secure insurance as I cannot be responsible for loss or damage due to circumstances beyond my control or act of God. 9. Car is advertised locally for sale. If I find a buyer through that venue, I reserve the right to end auction early. Please call me at 704-661-1326 Cell or 518-604-4050 Landline with any further questions about this. Again, best to call both and leave messages at both, or send me a message through Ebay messaging. 10. If you have been an Ebay member for less than a year and/or have less than 10 feedbacks, and/or have less than a 95% rating, you MUST contact me BEFORE you bid. Failure to do this may result in my cancelling your bid and blocking you from bidding on my items. I understand that new members can be great customers, but I must talk to you first. Thanks a lot. I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for l NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! ABOUT ME: I have been a collector and enthusiast of Postwar American cars for nearly 40 years! I maintain a "rotating collection" of 6 to 10 such vehicles. Sometimes I sell one out of the collection to make way for a new arrival. I favor un-restored original "Survivor" cars from the late 1950s to mid 1970s. |

GM starting to talk seriously about 200-mile EV
Sun, Oct 12 2014We've been hearing word of a 200-mile EV from Chevrolet for a while now. First, there was General Motors then-CEO Dan Akerson hinting at a $30,000, 200-mile EV that would take the competition by surprise. Then Akerson confirmed that GM is working on a 200-mile EV in a speech in March. LG Chem, which supplies batteries to GM and other automakers, recently said it was working on batteries for EVs with a range of 200 miles. GM's head of global product development Mark Reuss just re-confirmed that there are plans for an EV with a 200-mile range, and sources have told Automotive News what that car will be. While Reuss didn't mention anything about a specific model or platform, two undisclosed sources with knowledge of GM's plans have said that an EV with a range of about 200 miles is indeed in the works, and that it will be based on the Chevrolet Sonic. The sources also gave a timeline for the car, saying it is slated for sometime in 2017. According to Reuss, the plan is for Chevy to offer a lineup of electric cars, with the 200-mile EV joining ranks of the Chevrolet Volt and the Spark EV. He didn't hint at a timeline, but if the sources are correct, we could see a Sonic EV being built within a few years. Reuss sees demand for it, too. When speaking of the Spark EV, currently only available in California and Oregon, he says that "people wish we would sell it all around the country." If he's right about that, it's not difficult to imagine people taking interest in Chevrolet's 200-mile electric car, whether or not it's a Sonic.
2017 Chevy Bolt Prototype Quick Spin [w/video]
Wed, Jan 6 2016To say that there's a lot riding on the upcoming Chevy Bolt doesn't quite get at how important this all-electric vehicle could be for GM. To say that there's a lot riding on the upcoming Chevy Bolt doesn't quite get at how important this all-electric vehicle could be for GM. We are entering a new phase for EVs in the US, and it's one where there will be more than one 200+ mile range electric model that will cost around $30,000-$35,000. The two obvious first entries are the Tesla Model 3 and the Bolt, but you can bet your Level 2 charger that Nissan will be joining the party as well, along with all sorts of as-yet-unannounced entries from other automakers. The main change that all of these longer-range EVs will bring is – potentially – to make plugging in your car a mainstream thing. And if the mainstream is in play, then there's money to be made, and you're going to need one heck of an EV to get people to pick your car instead of someone else's. So, yeah, the Chevy Bolt could be a big deal. And today we not only got a bit more information about the car but we also got to go on a really short test drive in a prototype version outside of the Las Vegas Convention Center as part of CES 2016. The "drive" took place in a closed-off parking lot and my two laps through the cone course took less than three minutes, but I can still say that it looks like GM will be bringing a solid option to the marketplace soon. Chevy Bolt Prototype front 3/4 View 16 Photos If you shift into L, the regen becomes wonderfully strong. One of the pleasant surprises in the Bolt prototype is the ability to drive with just one pedal. When in D, the Bolt coasts a bit, which is nice for highway driving, but if you shift into L, the regen becomes wonderfully strong. Strong enough that you don't need to engage the brakes at all if you're in standard city traffic, with lots of gentle stops and starts. If you want even more stopping power without getting the brakes involved, the Bolt also has the regen-on-demand feature that was introduced in the Cadillac ELR and works great in the second-gen Chevy Volt. When you pull the paddle on the left back side of the steering wheel, the electric motor instantly becomes a generator and the Bolt turns forward momentum into energy for the battery pack. It will even bring the car to a complete stop and then hold it when you release the paddle.
Nissan Leaf sales double Chevy Volt to close out winning 2014
Mon, Jan 5 2015To close out the year, sales of the two most-popular plug-in vehicles in the US kept going in the direction that they had been all year. The Chevy Volt dropped and the Nissan Leaf had another record month. Sound familiar? The Volt sold 1,490 units in December, a year-to-year drop of 37.7 percent. For all of 2014, Volt sales were down 18.6 percent to just 18,805 (from 23,094 in 2013). On the Nissan side of the ledger, the Leaf sold 3,102 units, up 22.7 percent from the 2,529 sold in December 2013. For the year, Nissan sold 30,200 Leafs, up 33.6 percent from the 22,610 sold in 2013. A few other things to note: For every month in 2014, the Leaf sold more than it did for the same month in 2013. For the Volt, this was only true for three months (April, May and July). Funnily enough, the Volt sold exactly 1,478 units in both March 2013 and 2014. The Volt's 2014 total was lower than both 2013 and 2012, while the Leaf had its best year ever. There were three months in 2014 when people bought at least twice as many Leafs than bought a Volt (September, November, December). The Leaf outsold the Volt every month in 2014. The closest gap was 215 units, in February. The biggest was 1,612, in December. As you've most likely seen, GM is still busy teasing the new Volt, which will make its official debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week. We'll have a more in-depth green car sales post up soon. <iframe embedded="true" "="" scrolling="no" src="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oIuH75vaSHaaplD4x6gLsYjSsiN4oGmez1T63eaYdhY/pubhtml?widget=true&headers=false" height="430"> Nissan celebrates 30,000 leaf sales in 2014, best year ever for sales of any plug-in vehicle NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 5, 2015) – Nissan, the world leader in electric vehicle sales, shattered yet another sales record with 30,200 LEAF vehicles sold in 2014, which is the first time any plug-in has sold more than 30,000 units in a single year. "Now in its fifth model year, Nissan LEAF is more popular than ever and continues to bring new buyers to Nissan," said Brendan Jones, director, Nissan Electric Vehicle Sales and Infrastructure. "From the beginning our vision was to bring electric vehicles to the mass market in a practical and fun-to-drive package, which is what makes Nissan LEAF the best-selling electric car in the world." Last month, Nissan sold 3,102 all-electric LEAFs, up 22.7 percent from the prior year and a December record.
